I found the perfect bra
Original problem
Looking at these photos I can really see how poor the fit is... The bra is gaping at the sides on top, but I am spilling out on top (towards the centre) of the cups (does not really show on the photo, but it shows through clothes).
In addition, I think I need a lot more uplift and support.
Maybe I need to try a different brand or bra type?
My boobs are - I think - narrow rooted and close set. I haven't quite figured the full on top / bottom out.
I get quadboob in many bras, even if the cup size is almost too big. I really like the padded, rounded tshirt bra look, but I am having problems finding one I don't fall out of...

helpfulThese cups barely cover you and your breasts are pushing the whole bra away from your body. You need a much smaller band and a much larger cup. If this band really stretches to 43 inches, then it runs way large. You should perhaps try a 36 band and look up the model here to make sure it really does stretch to around 36in. I'm not sure what cup size to recommend. It looks like you need to go up at least 3,which would be a 36J. It would be helpful if you retook your horizontal perimeter measurement (it's of 1 breast, around its equator from one side to the other) and you would want to look for bras with a cup depth near that measurement and a band that stretches to around 36in. Good luck hunting, hopefully you can find cheap stuff here, on reddit /braswap, and on ebay. It'll be a journey but you can keep posting fit requests and we'll help you out!

When i search for a band of ~36 and a cup depth of ~15 (yr horizontal perimeter) i get mostly results that are 36HH-J. I really don't think going up 1 cup size to a GG is going to do much for you.
The bratabase recommendations are also based on what bras you have added and what bras other users said fit them, so i really don't use them. Calculators are often flawed because they don't get the whole story, most of them go by your whole circumference of the chest but that doesn't say anything about your shape.
For very projected breasts like yours it is most important that the shape of the cup is deep enough. I would recommend Panache or Cleo for you rather than Fantasie. I would also highly suggest Polish brands like Ewa Michalak and Comexim eventually on your bra journey, but Panache and its related brands would be a good starting point for now.

I have actually tried Panache a couple of times, and the fit has been very close to perfect (e.g. Tango II balconette and pluge), but the wire always comes up to high - very high - under the arms. I have read that many have that problem with Panache. Do you know of any models from Panache that have lower sides?
I've read that Cleo should be better in that way, but to me honest, I am yet to find a design I like - I do like colours, but most of the designs are a bit too tutti frutti flower power for me :-) But then again, if the fit is great, maybe it's worth trying.
I did place an order with Comexim last year, but after a month they still hadn't dispatched it, so I cancelled the order. Maybe I should try again.

I actually just found a Panache Tango II plunge bra in size UK 36H - I thought I had sold it. I've always really liked that bra , as it fits really well, except for the fact that it comes up so high under the arms.
Now I tried bending the wires outwards under the arms, and that actually seems to make a difference. Now I'll try wearing it and see if it digs in under the arms or at the center (it's the first bra I've ever tried that has fitted completely in the center, so I don't know if it'll dig in when it sits so tight).
Thanks for making me try this bra one more time :-) There's no doubt that the width of the wires is much better than any of the other bras I have - and there is no quadboob and no excess fabric at the sides.
Have taken some photos and will add the bra when I have measured it.

helpfulCould you start by correcting your breast perimeter? All three perimeters really helps, but you are supposed to measure around just one breast. The perimeter should be somewhere in the ranges of the cup depth, but your perimeter is almost twice that. The correct perimeter helps with the correct cup size. And all three helps because it gives the idea of how much space your breasts take up in different positions, and depending on various factors, some ppl have some measurements that work better than others.
The band also seems to be too big for you. It looks like you might be between a 34 and 36, but a 38 will not give you the support you need.
Your breasts do look really long and narrow, which can be hard to fit, but I'm thinking you are bigger than a G cup for sure.
My breasts are maybe similar but not quite so narrow and my best bra is the Floris, but those wires are super-firm, and can be hard to get used to. But first you need to figure out your size!

Thanks, I really did a bad job measuring :-) !! I've entered new measurements now.
I for sure can't fit a 34 band, a 36 fits in some models but is too tight in other models (as in so tight I can't force it closed), so I use both 36 and 38. Bratabase calculates me to be a 36GG - 38GG (UK sizes). Most of my bras (the ones that fit okay) are 38GG. The band doesn't ride up.
I think you are right that my breasts are long and narrow - although they are wider at the bottom than at the top.

Was thinking about this more - First of all, while you can fit in a bra with a too-big band and too-small cups, what that means is that part of the band is basically on your breasts. You can fit in it, but it doesnt fit you.
There was someone recently who had short roots and projected breasts and did very well in some Elomi bras - there is one that says its good for short women, and she said she's not short but has short breasts and it works for her.
The only thing is most Elomis I think run wide.
as for molded - just be clear they dont not make them in your shape. again, you might find one you can fit in, but it wont fit you - I have an elomi like that.
I think the other poster is right, you really should try a J cup most likely.
As for Comexim, they dont make cups big enough without customization. And their bigger cups dont look good to me. But Ewa Michalak S cup is very open at top, so that might not cut in to your armpit. But you have to go up 1 or 2 cups in the S, their padded bras run small.
-
I think the Elomi bra that is good for short women and also works well for someone with short roots is the Etta bra. I have this bra and have found that the band runs true to size so is a bit firmer than older styles by Elomi. It has narrower wires than my other Elomi bras and the cup size seems slightly smaller overall.
I have a 36J and if I purchased another one I would probably get a 36 JJ. -
I just tried the Elomi Bijou in size 36GG and 38GG. The fit was perfect, but the 36GG was too small in the cup and the 38GG too large in the band. So now I've ordered a 36H and think it'll be perfect, maybe with a band extender in the beginning. I would have like to have tried a 36HH too, but that model doesn't go higher than a H-cup. I love padded bras so I am so happy to have found this. I would love to buy the Bijou Soiree too, it's really pretty.
As Elomi is impossible to find in shops here, I have to order online, which makes it a bit difficult and takes a bit longer (and postage expenses) to find the right bras, but I'll definitely order some more Elomi bras and see if they fit as well as Bijou. I've been looking at the Etta bra, as the description sounds perfect. Does it give a good uplift?
-
I think the Etta gives a good uplift. It isn't padded though so if you prefer padded bras you should be aware of this.
There aren't many padded bras made in my size so I don't have any. I have found as long as you have the right size and shape bra for you then an unpadded bra should give you uplift and a good shape under clothes.

helpfulcould you check your perimeter measurements?
Beyond that, this looks like classic too big band/too small cup from the picture. I'd be try 34's and 36's for the band. You can check the database for cup depth in different models to get you started.

Thanks, I really did a bad job measuring :-) !! I've entered new measurements now.
Batabase thinks I'm a 36GG - 38GG, which is also the size range I usually use (in Freya and Fantasie, which are the brands I usually end up in).
-
Bratabase recommends the Cleo Juna to me in 28E, even though I list quadding in the 28FF! These recommendations are a starting point only, and I think are particularly bad for those with narrow roots and lots of fullness.
I'd start with a 36H and maybe even a 34HH if it's a Freya. Is there a Nordstrom or specialty shop near you?
Also, you might be a good candidate for the Polish brands. Others could give you more help with that sizing, though
-
No Nordstrom shops here - I live in Denmark, Scandinavia :-) It's quite hard to find the large cup size brands here, so I usually order online from the UK, which does make it a lot more difficult to try different brands and sizes.
I think you are right, I should look more at the measurements of other bras instead of the calculators. After all, they know nothing about the shape of the breasts and that does have a lot to say.

helpfulI just added the Elomi Bijou to my bras. It's perfect (size 36H). What a difference - the pictures says it all, Especially compared to the other bras I added earlier !

Bratabase recommends UK size 36GG - 38GG, so I should be within the right size range (it also matches other calculators I've used).
Most of my other bras are 38GG and the band does fit quite tight. For the Elodie in specifik, the band actually is a bit tighter than my other bras (e.g. Fantasie Allegra and Lois) and that would have fit better in 36 - maybe a 36H would have been a lot better, as the cup also needs to be larger.
I did try it in a size 38GG when I bought it but it felt like it came up to high under the arms, which is often a problem for me when I go up a cup size.
