Wacoal » Lace Finesse T-shirt Bra (853201) » 38G 38:7
Issue resolved
I bought a Wacoal unpadded bra in a 38H and it fits pretty good. It is very comfortable but I don't think it gives me the support I need. Will try some other brands and try 38H or 38I in U.S. sizing and 38FF or 38G in UK. Thanks so much for the help. I love this site. I know I am not very good at taking pictures of myself in a bra. I still haven't found the perfect fit bra but know I will.
Original problem
The cup size on this bra is too small and the band is a little loose. I was told that I should wear a 38G but this 38G does not fit right. I bought a Soma minimizer also in a 38G and it feels comfortable but I feel even that cup size is a little small. On this Wacoal bra the cup really looks too small. I am wondering if I should go up to a 38GG or 38H. I wouldn't want to go down a band size or up one either. The band on this Wacoal is a little loose on the looses hook, but I don't think I need a smaller band. I was so happy because I thought I am finally going to get a bra that really fits me. Not yet.

helpfulWacoal and soma both use US sizing. UK sizing is more consistent in terms of letter progression, especially since US bras aren't usually made in larger sizes (theres always exceptions of course). A wacoal 38G is equivalent to a Uk 38F. I'm thinking you're probably nearer to a uk 38G, 2 cups larger than this bra. You can go by index sizes if all the uk/us/eu conversions are throwing you off. That would be 38:9 so when you find a brand you want to try, check the brands page to see what the 9th cup is.
Edit: just checked one of your adventures posted. The measurements definitely indicate closer to a 38G or GG in UK sizes. If you find a US brand you want to try, it will most likely be labeled 38I or J, or on some newer tags they have something like DDDDDD/I

helpfulNot sure why you dont want to go down a band size if it feels loose? are you closing it on the tightest or the loosest hook? You should be able to close the band on the loosest hook, so you can tighten it if it stretches out. If you go down a band you have to increase the cup letter, to keep the same cup size - which means go up several up sizes to find something that actually fits.
These pictures seem to be from below your breasts. Can you take a picture from straight on, and one from the side? (I take them in front of a mirror)
You only measured one breast perimeter, but its 14 and you measured this cup depth at 10. Those numbers are supposed to be close to each other (tho, for me, laying perimeter is the closest to my actual cup size need)
But you definitely need a bigger cup.

I have a Soma bra in a 38G and the band fits great but the cup also is a little too small. Maybe I will try to go down a band size and up a cup size. I am not good on measuring breast perimeters and all that stuff. So if I go down a band size I would get a 36H? The Soma bra almost fits, it is just a little too small in cup. I will try and take a better picture. My daughter says I take terrible pictures. At 65 I am finding out most of my life I have been wearing the wrong bra size. Even though I have been told that I should wear a 38G by three different people, I am beginning to wonder. I have heard that Wacoal bras run small in the cup. I have the Wacoal bra on the loosest hook and I can put my whole hand easily under it on that hook. The Soma one I can't so don't know. I guess it just depends on the brand.

yourlovealive made a good point up there - you need a UK G cup, not a US G cup. UK bras tend to be a little pricier unless you can find them on clearance. I sometimes just do a search for "32J bra" (my size) and then sort by price, I think? to find things on sale. cuz i dont usually care if I'm wearing last year's pattern. well, except with my favorite bra, which is Panache Floris - I kinda want every new pattern in that one!

Wacoal, like many brands, has really variable cup sizing depending on whether the bra is a molded/padded (rigid cup) design or a cut and sew (unpadded, seamed) design. I am a 32F in unpadded bras, but in most brands, the molded/foam/padded designs in that same size are WAY too small for me.

I just bought a Wacoal Awareness 85567 and it fits pretty close. I think a 38 I would fit better though, but Wacoal doesn't have it in that size. I am wondering what styles and brands I should try next. I am not familiar with some of the other brands. I usually look on ebay and can find bras at a really low price. Can you recommend some brands and sizes for me to try next.
