Bra fitting help » Bad fit for my shape?
Natori » Feathers Contour Plunge Bra (730023) » 30C 30:3
Issue resolved
<a href="/profile/bxt/" class="mentioned-item">Saskia_C</a> very astutely pointed out that the Natori Feathers is too broad wired for my average/narrow roots. Going to try the Cleo Neve, Freya Deco Plunge, Curvy Kate Plunge, and Cleo Marcie!
Original problem
Band slightly too big, quadding, do not fill out the cups fully. Would going up a cup size help? Or do I just need a completely different bra?

helpfulThe fit isn't bad. I used to wear 30C, and still do in styles where the cup runs large. I think that for you, 28 bands will be a better fit. As for cup shape, it's not terrible. It fits your tall roots but it is too broad wired for you. As the Natori Feathers is one of the most broad wired bras out there, I can only conclude that your root breadth is not extremely broad. Your root breadth might be narrow, average breadth, or slightly broad. I think that 28D is probably a better bet for you, especially in styles that are tall cupped and not extremely broad wired.
You might like the Cleo Neve, the Cleo Marcie, and the Freya Deco Plunge in 28D. All three accommodate tall roots but vary in wire breadth and level of projection. Some of the Curvy Kate moulded plunges are also nice, but will only work if your shape is very FOT.

the Freya Deco Plunges all have the same basic shape. there are small differences in fit between them though. as for Cleo Neve vs Cleo Marcie vs Freya Deco Plunge in 28D, it's a continuum. The Cleo Neve is almost as broad and shallow as the Natori Feathers, but the differences is noteable. The Freya Deco Plunge is one of the most narrow wired 28D bras out there, and can accomodate average projection. The Cleo Marcie is a nice bra because it has medium breadth wires. It also suits average projection in 28D.
Here are some examples of broad roots: http://www.venusianglow.com/2013/07/nsfw-pictures-of-breasts-with-broad.html
Here are some examples of narrow roots: http://www.venusianglow.com/2013/06/pictures-of-breasts-with-narrow-roots.html
The middle figure represents tall roots while the one on the right represents short roots: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hBvDG7g_Hss/UsGHeX2IepI/AAAAAAAACgw/nIZTPzDBJso/s1600/wide_shallow_breasts.jpg

Ahh that makes so much sense! Now I can clearly tell that the Natori is wired about an inch too wide! Funny since I was trying to push the tissues to the side to fill out the cups better!
Super excited to try out the options now I have a much better understanding of what I'm looking for. Thank you so much!

helpfulNo expert in your size range, but I'm thinking its the wrong shape. Look for bras that come in your size range here and say they have tight bands. are you filling out the bottom of the cup or not? If not, its probably too shallow. looks like the cups are too wide apart, but I could be wrong. Not really as good at knowing what I'm seeing in your size range

You definitely hit the nail on the head. I'm not filling out the bottom of the cups completely, there's slight wrinkling. Also, I agree that the cups feel too far apart. This is my first real bra fitting after years of VS *cringe*
I really appreciate your insight!

helpfulHi there! You and I are a similar size and shape, but my breast perimeter is around 7".
This bra is too small in the cups for you and probably too shallow for you even in a better size.
This bra (and probably a lot of bras) actually makes you look smaller than you are, right? Like it squishes your breast tissue instead of bringing the girls up and forward.
If you are looking specifically for a foam or moulded bra, I don't have a lot of recommendations. However, in general, you want to start with a bra that has a cup depth similar to your breast perimeter.
Here are some bras that might be a closer match, as per your measurements:

Funny you say that since I've never considered myself as particularly endowed! I've definitely gone braless on numerous occasions :)
Thank you for the suggestions, I'm new to the site and still trying to figure out how to do even basic searches! Definitely going to run the search again once I remeasure myself!

Thank you so much for all the suggestions! I just placed an order for Cleo Neve, Freya Deco Vibe UW Moulded Plunge, and Curvy Kate Daisy Plunge! Would have ordered the Cleo Marcie but alas no Prime shipping. There are so many Freya Deco Plunge styles, do they all fit similar?
I also ordered b.tempt'd Ciao Bella 30C, Panache Andorra Plunge 28D, and Natori Feathers 30D to try on. Hopefully I'll find one I like out of all of those!
I'm super new to this bra fitting business and don't quite understand the concept of root yet. I was reading about shallow vs projected but am having a hard time translating it to myself. What exactly is a tall root and wide/narrow breadth?
