Bra fitting help » Top of cup gaping

Issue resolved
In the future I will look for deeper, less tall cups with room in the bottom such as balconette style. I may have to size down for some padded bras
Original problem
I'm still pretty new to the good fitting bra world. This is the second bra I've ordered in my proper size (First was Freya Eden which fits pretty well). I'm hoping to get a padded bra that will give me a nice round shape. I can tell this Casey does not fit well but I'm not sure if it is the size or just the wrong shape for me. I have gapping all along the edge of the cup especially under the strap and near the gore. The band feels comfortably snug. The lace part on the cup where it meets my underarm is rubbing a bit. Any suggestions as to if it is wrong size vs. wrong shape? And if it is wrong shape does anyone have any recommendations for a padded bra that works well with FOB, slightly projected breasts? Thanks!

helpfulIf you are short rooted, center heavy and/or projected at all, you may need to size down in this. You look fairly short rooted and projected ( which is probably why the eden fits you well). I typically wear a 30F/FF in unlined freya (like the eden). Because I am all those things (short rooted, center heavy and projected) moulded plunges will never fit me perfectly. But I do owe a couple (deco delight and cleo neve) and the deco (like the xasey) doesn't gape because I sized down to a 30E.
In your normal size, your boobs are pushing the cup down and away to make room for your boobs. This tilts the cup away from your body, causing the gaping at the top.
Try a size or two down if you want to stay with the casey. Otherwise I would recommend trying a Cleo Neve. Its a similar style (moulded plunge) but I think the fit is way better. The foam is more flexible, has shorter cups and allows for more projection. . If you want a perfect fit however, stay with unlined freya s. Some of them, like the Ignite create a much rounder shape than the Eden. if you are worried about nipples, you can pick up silicone petals for coverage.

Thank you! I must admit I was hesitant to move to soft cup bras after years of wearing crappy padded bras in my tragic 36B size but they are definitely growing on me for the comfort and appearance. It's good to know that some will give me a more rounded shape. It is still nice to have a moulded bra for t-shirts and such so I will definitely check out those models you suggested.

Happy to help! Another moulded plunge you could try is the Passionata sexy invisible plunge. I like the fit of the Neve better, but my Passionata is a nude so I wear it more. But like the Deco, I sized down in the cups for the Passionata.

helpfulI have tried on a bunch of Parfait bras and I felt that this one is like the Jeanie only with even taller cups (Jeanie already has tall cups) and is a bit less shallow. If your shape is FOB or short rooted, or even average height rooted, it will not be a good fit for you.

helpfulI would suggest a half cup or balconette style. I think it's the wrong shape for you. Perhaps a Cleo Marcie? Or one of the Polish brands in those types of style. I don't know if you are looking for padded or not. The Marcie is not padded.

Now that you say that I remember having a balconette bra in my ill-fitting days that I loved so I will have to look for more in that style. I was specifically mentioning padded bras in this post but I just need more bras in general so I will add Marcie to my to-try list. Thank you!

helpfulMy usual UK size is 30E so it's similar to yours. However in the Casey I had to go one cup size down (my photos and reviews here: http://www.abracabra.cz/2014/10/parfait-casey-30dd.html). So I reccomend you to go down with the cup size. If this doesn't help, you can try Freya Deco Spotlight. It's more close on top and I think it might not gap.

Thanks I'm not particularly attached to the Casey I just got this one from another Bratabase user to try it out. If I get a chance to get a different one I'll try sizing down.
