Bra fitting help » Underwire poking me
Panache » Andorra Full Cup Bra (5675) » 34GG 34:10
Issue resolved
Thanks everyone! I got an extender, and it's fitting much better. I will definitely try to bend the underwires as well!
Original problem
The underwire is poking me in the armpit. Not sure if the cup is too small and/or the band is too big. I can fit my hand underneath the band, but I can't imagine going down a band size! The bra already feels tight.

helpfulThe cup volume looks fine, I'm not entirely positive about band length, but wires poking you in the side is not necessarily an indicator of wrong sizing. Panache is known for using hard, often uncomfortable underwires and also for wide wires. It's likely this bra has wires that are WAY wider than you need, and they are hitting you at an uncomfortable spot on your side.
The good news is that many brands offer this cup volume (about 12") in a 34 band so if you search by measurements you should be able to find a range of other options to try.

helpfulI agree the wires look a little too wide (meaning your breast ends a little bit before the bra does), but i'm wondering if the band is too tight and the wires are being stretched? You could try an extender to see if its more comfortable that way. the 'fit a hand' is not a great test imo. You should feel supported and comfortable. the band should stay (mostly) in place. as a 32-34 JJ, i still need some adjustments.
also panache breaks in some . . . tho for me, Envy never broke in, but my Floris did. The envy was too shallow at the bottom, but this looks like it has great projection at the bottom. I never have tried an Andorra.

helpfulThe fit of the cups looks fine.
Poking underwires usually don't happen when the cup is too small - too small cups would cause the underwire to be drawn away from the body, and the top of the cup cutting in.
Apart from the suggestion too look for bras with similar measurements you could try an extender with this bra. If it's your first 'fitted' bra, chances are your body might need some time to get used to the underwires, tight band etc. (I still remember this when I tried on my first 'fitted' bras.)
An extender is a cheap option to try this out, and it's always good to have one at hand. Make sure you use a non-stretchy extender though (only hooks and eyes, no elastics in between) because otherwise it will mess up the fit and support a tight band is supposed to give.
As you wear the bra a few times, the band will loosen up a little, and your body will become accomodated, and you may decide to skip the extender.Updated on January 29, 2016 Flag this

helpfulIf you want a more immediate solution, you can bend the top of the underwires out. I have to to do this with almost all my Panache bras, I think it's a combo of slightly too wide cups and slightly too long underwire. It is easier to bend when you are not wearing the bra, just take the top 1/2-1 inch of the outer wire and bend it out.
