Bra fitting help » Quad and no projection, what to do?

Issue resolved
Lost weight so it fit better
Original problem
Super disappointed with this fit. These pics are without the pads in. Is this typical of pl style ewa bras? The wires are too wide and there is little immediate projection.
The band felt great, but there is lots of quadding on the larger breast.
And the sides of the cups and wings come up a bit high.
I am thinking of going down a band size and using an extenser, to get narrower wires and shoter cups. Then going up a cup or two. Any suggestions on size or style? I need the lower gore so that is why I went with a pl style....

helpfulI think this is just too small for you. Try 1-2 cup sizes up.

I'm not an Ewa expert and the numbers provided by other users suggest inconsistent sizing... but I would possibly consider 2, just because you're seriously busting out of it on your larger side. Again, though, I don't have the expertise on this brand to speak really confidently. I hope others in your size range will be able to give a more definite opinion!

helpfulThe PL has no immediate projection. It's designed to push everything up and in from the sides and bottom, so it lacks that space. Because of the intended shape, they're also quite wide in this size range.
Have you tried a CH or a CHP yet? I think you'd be a good fit depending on what gore height you can tolerate. In a 65F they're around 2.5" high, typically with overlapped wires. They have excellent immediate projection and are about .5" more narrow than the PL in the same size.Updated on January 23, 2016 Flag this

I agree, I don't think that this bra even in a different model will do what you want it to. A larger cup with narrower wires and perhaps with side pockets to bring you more forward.

Please update your measurements here: http://www.bratabase.com/profile/measurements/ so they are properly reflected and also considered correctly for your next bras and fit information.
Otherwise the site will think that your fit assessment is for the old numbers and not these.

I did just, just after I posted this fit check 😉

Cool :) then you can edit this request and change it to your new measurements.

helpfulGoing down a band size makes them custom, and not returnable, and not honestly likely to be narrower - esp because the cups are much too small.
I think in that range maybe some of the other models are narrower/deeper?

I hope so, this was not what I was expecting. Do u think 2 cups larger?

well, in general, if you are fitting 30Fs in unlined UK bras, a lined EM should be one cup size up . . . but you do seem to have a lot of quad, and if it comes with pads (I think it does) that gives you some flexibility to go up another size. Also if you are PMSing your boobs could be a little swollen.
but again, hopefully someone will come and talk about fit. I'm wearing 75 J/JJ in EMs, and cant fit some of their models.

helpfulI can't comment specifically for the plunge styles, but this one looks like 2 sizes too small. The cup depth is only 8.2 inches while your laying perimeter is 9.4. An s style in 65G has a similar cup width but in my experience 9.5 inch depth, which should work better for you than this plunge. They're also pretty projected and deep, especially near the wire.

helpfulI personally found the PL Lilia to fit completely differently to my PL Onyks and I do not think the Lilia is typical of the PL cut. It is smaller in the cup, shallower, wider at the gore, more closed on top.
I got major quad in my 65H PL Lilia when my 65GG PL Onyks fit perfectly, so it might be worth trying a different model PL before you write the PL off completely as a shape incompatibility. Sorry - I know that isn't much help if the Lilia is your only point of comparison. I see you classify yourself as FOB, is your breast tissue soft or more firm?
I would only go up one cup size given your volume measurements, and I wouldn't recommend going down a back size. My firm underbust is 69cm (comfy 71, loose 75) and I've been wearing my new Ewa 60 with an extender for a month as the wires distort if you stretch it past 69cm which would create other fit issues. While Ewa's bras are notorious for band inconsistency, my recent experience is that the bands seem to be less stretchy than they used to be (although it may just be coincidence for the models that I've bought).
I can't comment on the CHP cut as I've only tried it once and the band was way too big for me to assess fit properly, however I also need a low gore and have a LOT of centre fullness and recently tried the S cut and have been amazed at the engineering in this bra.
I was pretty wary about trying the S as I thought the gore would be too high for me and the cups too closed but I was mistaken - the gore is significantly lower and narrower than I expected, and the cups have a lot of projection and are very accommodating (and give cracking cleavage) - it might be worth a try for you in a 65FF size.

Thanks so much for all your input. I did try a s turkusik and it was so close but the gore bothered me. I have soft tissue, breastfed 4 kiddos including a set of twins 😊. And not a ton of center fullness though I do need a narrow gore.

helpfulNo real help, but your idea to go down a band size and use an extender, plus go up a couple cup sizes should work. I've done it several times just to get the gore width, cup depth, and wire width I needed. It worked great until I gained 5 pounds! :/

Thanks, that does help. I'm very petite and I think I need the smaller band spacing of the cups in front, but an overall longer band.

helpfulHi quadding means the cups are too small - I agree try going up possibly two cup sizes but in a different brand of bra. There are bras out there that will fit you so much better.
Freya side support bras in the right size can give you all the support you need and look pretty too as well as being functional for everyday wear.
Try Mimi Holliday full cup comfort bras too although you won't get the lift from them that you will from Freya.Updated on February 29, 2016 Flag this
I can tell that, but I was surprised at the lack of projection. Thanks for the comment. Do you suggest one or two cups larger?
