Issue resolved
After trying on a couple of times, the fabric calmed down and hugged the chest wall closer.
Original problem
I can't tell if the center is supposed to lift away like this, or what. Is the empty space indicative of a size or shape mismatch?

helpfulThe top of this bra will do that because the wires don't go all the way up. It's not a shape mismatch, the bra just does that.

helpfulI've never tried a sports bra, but I thought w a sports bra, the most important thing is the bounce test - like, do some jumping jacks or something and see if it keeps you locked down and is comfy. But i thought ppl tried to go down a size w sports bras, for better compression. Unless you are looking for comfort rather than support during activity.

With an encapsulation sports bra like this, you don't want compression. It prevents jiggle by having the breast fully surrounded rather than squishing it.

helpfulThis bra doesn't have an underwire. Thus it has nothing that will push the fabric of the bra against your body. the fit looks good.

Usually, jumping is the way to go, yeah. But I'm having issues with breast tenderness, so it's difficult to tell. The jiggle pain could be lack of support or it could be me being way too sensitive, lol
