Issue resolved
Will keep looking
Original problem
If I tighten the band and take in the gore does it look decent for a strapless?

helpfulI agree it looks a bit too 'squashed'. To some extent that's inevitable, but I also think you can do better
For me, Curvy Kate Luxe (although still a bit closed on top) was a better fit. Haven't added mine (30H) on here yet though. See a review on Beckysboudoir and I think more bloggers have reviewed it, perhaps fullerfigurefullerbust? Hope it may work for you!
Edit: don't forget that tightening the band will probably make it more squashy as well.
And in a larger cup, Brasandbodyimage has also reviewed this one.Updated on March 22, 2016 Flag this

helpfulI think you could do better ... it's really squashing you across the top and that doesn't look fixable with alterations.

I am looking for a strapless bra right now too...if I find a good one I'll let you know because the ones I tried were too closed on top for me too! But I know there are better choices out there somewhere!

I'm low set so I had this idea I have low roots but when I do the push test I end up with boobs a finger width away from my collar bone so I'm sure that is making more difficult too to find the right fit.

Me too! You sound like you have a "full on top" shape :)

One I tried so far that doesn't squash me on top and is pretty true to size is this: Va Bien Low Back Strapless Bustier. I got a sister size (32D instead of my usual 30DD) and it didn't squash me on top, cup volume was right, it looked nice from the front view and side view...my only complaint was the cups are about a centimeter too far apart for me, but it wasn't noticeable to my boyfriend who looked at it, so it wasn't that far off. And I need cups a lot closer than average to avoid that so it might not be an issue for someone else.

(I'm venturing my search into bustiers too because I need the strapless for a bridesmaid dress, and I don't want to rule out all the dresses that are lower in the back)

helpfulThis really isn't doing anything for you; it almost looks like a binder rather than a bra! Are you willing to try a padded strapless with seams? Panache makes one, Evie.

I think I did try that one. I actually kind of like the binder look lol. No wonder I was pretty happy haha

Ohh I see. You may like the Panache Porcelain then. It's very shallow so it flattens a lot. Comes in a smaller band so you won't have to alter it down.

I'd like to believe that and hope you are right! I haven't found a better one yet. I've tried around ten I think. Of popular ones, deco, porcelain, another panache, a wacoal, a btempted, le mystere soirée, a couple Gossards...
