Issue resolved
Cup too small, wrong shape for my chest
Original problem
Hi! I just had another fitting help threat where the band turned out to be WAY too big. This bra is pretty comfy, and the band fits very nicely/straps don't fall off, but I wanted to know if I needed to go up a size. The gore also doesn't completely tack when I'm in certain positions, but does in some. Thanks.

helpfulYes, I do think that 36DD and 36E are better for you to try. Another thing that I noticed from these photos and from the photos of your 36DD Maidenform bra is that your shape is non-shallow, that is to say, you probably have above average projection. I still recommend the Cleo and Freya bras meant for FOB types. I no longer recommend brands like Aerie, Thirdlove, VS, or most department store brands.

So would the Cleo Kali in 36E be a good bra to try? Or should i try to find a 36DD?
-
lustforlemons Cleo Kali is a clone of the Lucy so yes, it would be good to try. I'd recommend trying both 36DD and 36E because in the beginning it is important to figure out which brands and which styles are better for you in 36DD and which ones are better for you in 36E.
-
Ok! If it doesn't fit I'm allowed to sell it once more, right?
-
lustforlemons you should check with Jj just to make sure.
-
Yes of course you can re-sell the bras you get here. It's all good as long as you follow the buyer's agreement: http://www.bratabase.com/help/buyers-agreement/

awesome, thank you Jj :)

helpfulYou do need to size up in the cup (you'll want a cup that is about 10" deep instead of 9 like this one). You may also find that 36 bands don't feel quite so good once you have the correct cup volume. A too-small cup makes the band feel tighter because insufficent cup volume artificially increases band tension, and part of the band length gets used up to contain the side boob that the cups cannot contain. So 36E/34F is likely to be your size range depending on brand. Cleo runs snug in the band so that could be a safe brand to try in 36.

Would a bra with 10.8" cup depth with a 36 band (Cleo Kali) be okay, or do you think that would be too big?
-
If it's really 10.8 that will likely be too big unless there is some unused space at the sides (very wide wires). But I see there are only a couple measurements recorded for this size in the Kali and human error is common with depth measurements, so it could be worth a try.

If it doesn't fit would it be worth trying a 34E?
-
You could try it!

We've certainly seen worse here, but just because there is no quadboob doesn't mean a bra is a good fit. Here are the signs I am looking at. I'm offering the stupidly long, detailed version hoping this can be useful to OP and other posters trying to figure out fit:
First, the cups are artificially shoving her boobs out toward the side of the body when they clearly are center-full and close enough that they would naturally sit at the front of her body, quite centered, in a well-fitting bra. I'm willing to bet she has to "tuck" herself into the cups whereas a well-fitting bra should fit right after scooping and swooping to the center. If she gave her bosom a vigorous, centering scoop and swoop I think she would spill right out in the middle of the bra.
Second, the breasts do not look supported--note the slight slumping angle in the side profile, and the front view where the breasts are clearly being allowed to sort of hang down into the cups which are not successfully giving them the "boost" intended by semi-padded styles.
Third, the breast tissue is not contained the way the designer intended, cf. the amount of boob showing from the side and the fact that the right-hand cup (from our perspective) appears to be so low on her that it's actually cutting across the top of her areola and we can see that the cup edge is barely 3/4 inches from the nipple. That might be the intended fit in a super sexy half-cup boudoir bra but definitely not in this everyday t-shirt bra. This is another sign of poor fit. Cups that are either too small or too big offer sub-optimal support.
Fourth, (this is the easy one) she mentions in her fit comments that the gore cannot tack. Now I know some people have a bit of confusion about this but it is really only in the VERY upper reaches of the cup size range (breasts much heavier and larger than average) and in cases of a tissue/implant bridge between the breasts that it can become universally impossible for gores to tack. There is truly no reason for someone without that inter-boob bridge to have a non-tacking gore in a decently fitting bra in the 34/36 DD/E/F range, which represents a pretty easy-to fit, average breast weight and volume.
Fifth--the amount of gapping she has at the straps at the upper outer corner of the bra, combined with the fact that there appears to be empty space at the base of the cups due to the breast being too large and projected to settle into that base, indicates that this is not an ideal fit overall. If these were the only problems and she otherwise had a great fit, this might be overlooked but in view of all the issues above, it's just one more sign that she needs a different size and a different cup design.

ok, thanks, that was v informative.. I just didn't think it looked like it was too small but I didn't think of all those other factors you pointed out. sorry :/
-
Don't be sorry, it's great to say honestly when you don't see the issues! If you don't say so nobody will take the time to explain :-)

yes, these molded/padded bras you are trying are not the right shape for you. Some breasts are more shallow - like the amount of breast tissue is spread around up and down and side to side - and some breasts are more projected - the tissue comes straight out of the body more, not covering as much of the chest. Yours look more projected, but the bras are you trying are fairly shallow.
