Bra fitting help » Do I need a bigger cup/ higher gore/ different shape?
Comexim » Rita Plunge Bra (414) » 75HH 34:9
Issue resolved
I'm marking this resolved, because it seems the gore is very low, so my center-heavy (inner/center fullness) breasts shift to the middle towards each other. Also, there might just not be enough fabric in the top-center of the cup to contain them. I just realized also that the underwire had moved to the sides, so moving it back in to the center helped a bit. I plan to try a different Comexim shape, perhaps a slightly higher gore, and straps moved in a bit.
Original problem
Actually, my best fitting bra thus far. A bit of quadboob over time as breasts shift --due to low gore, shape/size of cup, and/or soft breast tissue? A little space at the top of the cup where it meets the strap (maybe I need a shorter cup?). Straps are better width than others-- they don't dig into my shoulder/ tail of spence when driving like other bras. Would appreciate any recommendations, comments, etc. Thank you!

helpfulThis isn't bad, I think the tissue shifting around/quadding is due to the low gore. If you can tolerate higher gores, I would suggest one of their 3 part half cups, and try both 75HH and 75J if you can. A lot of people need to size up for those, but the cups will be shorter and also more immediately projected. If the higher gores bother you, try asking for a reduced gore on a 3 part half cup.

helpfulThe cups look like they are being pulled east-west a little bit, which is not what normally happens in Comexim... I wonder if you threw on an extender (not one with elastic, a regular one) to get just 1/4 to 1/2 inch more ease in the band, if that would let the cups sit better and the slight quadding might disappear.

Thanks for the suggestion! I never thought of that... I put on the extender that I had, which adds about 1" more, so it's a little too loose with it, but it did help with the quadding a bit. Looking at the measurements though, I think I do need to try 1 cup size bigger. Perhaps with an insert of some kind. Thank you again.

What about using the extender to add just 1 or 2 extra hooks -- so adding more like the quarter to half inch advised instead of the whole inch or so you added, which was too much? What happens then?
Again, I don't think you need another cup up.

Yes 1" could be too much.

Oh, okay. I'll try looking for a different extender. The one I have adds 1" minimum.

helpfulOne vote for theraised gore. To me, this doesn't look that small. The raised gore option adds the cup volume a bit. So I think it would be enough for you. Btw it looks great on you.

Oh, thank you. I normally wouldn't buy a red bra, but that's all they had in my size, and the next size up was a UK-HH. Good to know that the raised gore could help with the cup volume. Thanks!

It can help with the cup volume and increase the amount of room to accommodate center fullness, which I think you could use here.

helpfulI think it looks great honestly, and the color is epic with your skin tone. Lined cups can sometimes be off in the shape because they don't form to your body the same way an unlined cup will. So you may have some gaping just due to the nature of the bra.

Now that being said, looking at the measurements the cups are not deep enough, your laying breast is 11.5 and the cups on this are 10.
So if you were looking to get a different bra I'd say go up a cup size, and the band looks just right. If it feels snug/is pulling the cups out of shape that's due to the breast tissue using the slack in the band to fill out the cups. the band should fit the same when you were it upside down as when you put the breasts into the cups. If it gets notably tighter when you flip it up and settle your boobs then the cups are too small. -
cjarasmith Oh, wow, thank you for the compliment on the color. I was hesitant to buy it because I thought red was a bit bold for me. Thank you for pointing out the measurement. I'll definitely try a bigger cup size.

mmm no, respectfully, these cups are plenty big and you do not need find a bra to match your perimeter measurement, especially when you have the evidence right in front of you that the cup fits just fine. (we can see it!)
The point of a bra is to shape your breasts. If I got a bra the same measurement as my breast i'd get no shaping! To use myself as an example, my perimeter is 12-13 (depending on how I measure) but I generally take a cup depth of around 10-11.
This is a really low gore. It is not a run-to-the-bus-stop gore. You might have to readjust yourself periodically in a bra with a gore this low -- and that's fine! All bras have different purposes. If you size up in the cup, you are going to get new problems. The straps will be all up in your armpits and the cups will be tall and gape. (Because it's comexim, the wires might not get too wide as they would in other brands.)

fair enough, she mentioned quad boob, so when I'm doing a fit check I look at the laying measurement if quadding is mentioned. I agree that it looks great from the photos. How ever because of the things she mentioned I added my information accordingly.

helpfulThanks for all the help. I definitely want to try a bigger cup size. It's possible that my other bras (e.g. Freya 34G) seemed to be the right cup size due to their wider wires. But, they don't really fit, because the wires are too wide for me. This bra has narrower wires, and that's affecting the cup depth. Also the low gore may be changing how it fits as well. It could be a bit too snug around the band, so I might try a larger band size as well to see how it goes. Thanks so much!

helpfulHave you tried to loosen the straps a bit to see if that helps ?

lcl0706 Thank you so much! Higher gores do tend to stab me in the chest, but I'll try a slightly higher gore. I'll also try a bigger cup size. I should probably try a bigger band size too, but we'll see if I can find them and afford it.
