Issue resolved
Ordered a smaller size!
Original problem
Oh dear, I definitely ordered the wrong size! The cups are obviously too big, but I'm not sure how many sizes I need to go down, particularly as this bra uses European sizing.
I usually wear a UK 30E, and most other people who wear this size seem to wear 65G/70F in Comexim, so I think I need to go down just one cup size (to 70F), but I'd like to get some second opinions please, just to be sure.
I had cookie pockets added to the bra as part of my order, and I have used some foam inserts here, as that's how I would probably wear it even in a smaller size - I'm quite shallow on top and need a bit of a boost from underneath to get a more rounded shape overall, especially on my smaller side.
I do fill up to the apex of the bra, although the apex is a little bit high, and there's quite a lot of gaping at the top and by the gore. The wires are definitely too wide.
I'm otherwise very happy with the fit - the band, straps and gore are all fine - and I think in the correct size this style would really suit my shape.
Thanks in advance!

helpfulI think a standard 70F would be perfect!

I agree with lcl0706
I feel like we're pretty similar shape-wise as well, and if that's the case a standard plunge in 70F or maybe even 3HC should work well. :)I have the Yoko without any customizations and I love the way it sits on my chest(no worries about any empty space at the corners) except that it's a bit too shallow.. I think lcl0706 even recommended that the 3HC would work a lot better for projected shapes and omg have you seen her 3HC Ivy? *_* I want one so badly haha
-
Thanks, Queequeg0925! I have reordered the same bra in 70F, so fingers crossed!
I'm a bit uncertain about the 3HC, or any Polish half-cups. I do well in Freya half-cups, as the cups curve in at just the right point on my chest, but others I've tried have been too open at the top and have gaped like mad! I seem to need a fine balance between open, but not too open. With a plunge, even if I don't have enough upper fullness for it, generally the way the cups are angled disguises it somewhat. I will be brave and try a 3HC at one point though!
And yes, lcl0706's Poison Ivy half-cup is a delight!

helpfulI would suggest trying one of the bras with alterations before dropping a cup size. Judging by your description I'd suggest reduced cup and reduced gore. How do the straps feel???

Thanks for your feedback!
I'm nervous about requesting complicated alterations, as I don't want to make things worse!
In general, I prefer full coverage, as I get a better shape that way and usually less gaping, so I'm not sure about reduced cups working for me. I saw a review from Queequeg0925 - who I think is a very similar shape and size to me - where she compared the same Comexim plunge with and without reduced cups, and she found the original cut worked much better for her shape.
The wires are also much too wide (by almost half an inch), so wouldn't the only way to fix that be sizing down in the cup?
The straps feel fine actually. Yes, they're a bit wide on my shoulders, but I have the same issue with most bras, so I'm used to it!
-
Yeah if you prefer more coverage and the wires are to wide I'd go down a size then.
-
I second going down a size (I do think one is probably enough)! Reducing cups does take away some cup volume, but it takes most of the height from near the straps (and it seems to be an okay height for you at the straps, with most of the gapping in the middle). Reduced cup height is usually best for people in larger cup sizes and/or people with short roots.
-
Thanks, kermitdafrog21. Yes, I don't normally have problems with gaping near the straps, as I have fairly tall roots, and I prefer all my side boob to be enclosed, so I don't think reduced cups would be the right option for me.

helpfulI'm surprised you fill the apex with it being too big and you having low nipples. I can never fill the apex unless I get 3HC in comexim. My nipples are at my IMF though (so legit the bottom of my breasts from the front view). If you find a cup size down is too small, then try the alterations. However, try the cupsize down first. I'm in between sizes and I find padding up is better than wearing too small a cupsize for me in comexim. The cutting in just looks too bad on me. Once you try a cupsize down you'll have a better idea of where to go though!
Usually 55Ks/50Ls are a little small on me recently. However, the mimi half cup I just lack the upper fullness for it (or I used to). So when I had trouble filling it, I cut a tiny slit and made my own cookie pocket. Obviously getting them made with cookie pockets is better. However, if you find a cupsize down to be way too small that's an option(albeit not the best).Updated on June 9, 2016 Flag this

Yes, that's me as well - nipples essentially at the bottom of my boobs! But, I'm also very pointy and projected at that point, so once it all gets lifted up in a decent bra, everything sits where it should! I only just fill the apex in this size though, and it is a bit too high for me.
My usual problem is gaping at the top, as I have so little upper fullness - all my volume is hanging around at IMF level!
Thanks though! I agree that I'd rather go slightly too big if I'm between sizes, and pad the difference, otherwise I end up with uncomfortable armpit boob.
-
I'm not pointy unless I'm cold! I have the top gaping too. I've learned I'll either have some top gaping or major quadding. I'd rather have minor gaping, but that's a personal preference. I'm around a solid 26GG EM in terms of cup volume(so I fluctuate based on style, brand, etc), but I'm a small 26(my UB is around 23/24) and sorta busty...so minor gaping is my only hope at no shoulder pain/some back pain. I'm a US 00 & naturally just tiny/small framed I need support in a band. Some minor quadding is a compromise I'm ok taking. If you're compromised support or in pain change your size, otherwise minor fit issues are merely cosmetic IMO!
-
Yes, I'm realising that it will be impossible to get a technically perfect fit (especially with my awkward shape), and learning to accept some cosmetic imperfections, such as slight gaping/wrinkling, in preference to discomfort.
I'd be very glad not to be pointy, but it's the hand I got dealt! :D
-
alexad yeah I know exactly what you mean. I either get major quadding or minor gaping. I have to take the minor gaping because I'm projected, but more wide than round. I also have super tiny nipples. Like that of a true a cup(I'm talking like 11 year old legit board flat ones lol)!

Thanks! That's what my instincts say too, but it's good to get the opinion of someone who is more familiar with the brand.
