Issue resolved
Scooping more in definitely helped but not enough to feel comfortable. I finally tried an extender and it just made it ride up in the back. I'm going on a hunt for a bra wider or more tapered wires. This is not the bra for me :*(
Original problem
This is my first suggested size and I'm not sure if this is a good fit. I think I fill out the cup pretty good, the band doesn't feel too tight but the upper band under my arm is irritating. I'm not sure if it's a fit issue or a material issue.
Edit- I read that you should be able to fit 2 fingers through the band comfortably, but I could fit y whole hand, so I'm not sure if that helps.

helpfulI'm not convinced the band isnt too tight, and changing the shape of the cup? But I do think that where the cup hits under your arm is awkward. I dont know what the fix for that is - high on the outside, maybe, so it contains more of that underarm flesh? Did you scoop-and-swoop and try to pull more of that in to the bra?

Today I made sure to scoop-and-swoop as much as I could today with this bra and I really had no noticeable discomfort! I do think I'm going to keep an eye out for a bra higher up on he outside.
Also adding that I'm not sure what up with the band, I could fit my whole hand though it.

fitting the whole hand is not really that good a measure, imo. But if you have an extender you could try it and see if it feels any better that way. It is hard to know when you are squishy.

I just ordered one off Amazon. Hopefully that will solve the problem or at least narrow down the issue.

Its always handy to have one around

helpfulThe whole thing looks to small, I feel like the wires should be wider and the band looks really tight as well. Have you tried it with a none stretchy extender? Also to test band fit, put the bra on backwards and spside down, then let us know how that fits.

I don't have an extender to try, but I did try the backwards and upside down way and that seemed to work great.

its really a comfort thing if its supper stretchy fabric being able to stretch it to get your hand in doesn't mean that when the elastic isn't stretched as far that it can't hold.

I ordered an extender and I believe it should be in later today. I'll for sure update after I try it out. I know the band does look tight but the band itself is comfortable except for the part under my arm. Now that I'm checking it out more, I think it's more of the strap area from the wire under my armpit. The wire itself doesn't poke, just the edge of it.

helpfulI agree with most of whats already been said. I have a question on the stretched band measurement, though. How far did you stretch the band to get that measurement? The band should be stretched until the wires just start to distort. If this is how the band was measured, then it should be fine but since its a 38 band that you have measured at 43 inches, you may have pulled it too far. Ideally, you'll want a stretched band length that approximately matches your comfortable rib cage measurement.

After wearing the bra today by making sure I was all stuffed in it seemed to fit more comfortable. I'm a bit lost when it comes to the stretched bra measurement. I tried to redo the stretch test and I'm not sure how to tell if it's distorted. The actual wire starts to flex open just after 31 inches and I couldn't find an example. But this is some good information thank you!

helpfulDon't worry about the hand vs. fingers under band thing. It's a myth that proper band sizing is determined by how many appendages/household appliances/family members can fit under the band. The best way to choose your band is simply to wear whatever size is snug enough to avoid riding up.
The most striking issue to me here is cup shape and indeed perhaps wire width. These cups are suited to projected breasts with a very narrow base, with tissue that does not extend far up or to the sides of the body. You look to have a much more moderate distribution of breast tissue--you do have some tail of Spence tissue going out under your armpit (I really don't think that is entirely fluff) and it looks like the upper end of your breast root tapers gently upwards instead of ending abruptly. I also don't think you are filling out the very deep and pointy ends of the cup here. So basically I would look for a slightly shallower-at-the-apex cup shape (not shallow overall, just without this almost retro point) with wires that are wider or else angle out nicely at the side. You may also want to consider brands that have more flexible wires. Panache is known for its very stiff, unyielding underwires. This isn't very friendly to the armpits, as a rule.

Thank you so much for even more insight and the household appliances/family members comment! Before I search anymore, do you know of any bras that would fit the slightly shallower at the apex, with wider/better angled wires or anything in your experience that would be better suited? Also would you say I have a wide root, or just not a narrow root? Sorry for all the questions. I feel like every time I search myself I come to one conclusion just to read something else to say the opposite :/

Hi, I'm new here but I thought I could give some advice because I tend to have the same issues with Panache and many other brands. I'm mostly 38D/DD and often suffer from too narrow wires and too projected cups. I'd recommend trying Curvy Kate, actually I mostly wear CKs now since they are quite wide and shallow in this size range, and think they might work for you too :)
-
CK are not bad, Elomi has very wide wires... Tutti Rouge also are known for being wider. Overall seamless and foam cups are shallower though width may vary.
I don't know that you are incredibly shallow, just moderately so! I think the width and height issue will be trickier as you don't want bras poking or cutting in.
Above the 34/36 band line you also have quite an impressive selection of very supportive nonwired bras and this can provide a backup choice as the absence of wire means the cup can conform pretty well to a diverse range of breast shapes.

Thank you ladies! I'll be checking into those brands for a better match. Getting a wire free bra might be a safe bet until I find a better match. I've defiantly never gave that any thought before.

It might be too small, it's always hard to tell since I've got fluff. I did do the scoop-and -swoop but I'll see if there is more I could swoop into the cup. Thanks for the suggestions!
