Bra fitting help » Size disparity, which side fits best?
Curvy Kate » Princess Balcony Bra (CK6001) » 40GG 40:10
Issue resolved
I returned the bra and ordered a new one in a 38J. Hopefully it will fit better.
Original problem
Does this fit? The right side, my larger side, seems a touch small but the other side seems to fit or even be a touch large. It's my first Curvy Kate but I was going off measurements on brata base and my other bras. My best fitting bra so far has been my Ewa Michalak SM Triumf. Its a 40HH,but i think the cups are a little big so I went smaller with this. Suggestions?
After wearing it for a couple of hours I noticed the cups slid down so there's space at the bottom of each cup now. I sit at work a lot and this is common with other bras too, but I dont know why. Does that mean the band is too loose or the cups aren't projected enough or is it normal?

helpfulI feel like there is a shape mis-match here but I cant put my finger on it. I usually try to size bras to my larger boob, and this doenst look like there's extra space on your big size, but the shape just looks wrong. It looks like its covering your breast but not supporting it, but I dont know why!
I tried looking at your other bras, but you have no pictures or measurements in them to compare. How do your other bras fit, esp compared to this one? I have not done well with most curvy kate bras. I tried a 32JJ - Curvy Kate » Portia Balcony Bra (CK4001) and it didnt support me at all

helpfulI'm not sure if this is too small for you or just right. To me it seems like a pretty good fit. I've tried this bra in two or three sizes now (38J, 40HH, 40J) and noticed that when it is too small I get a boxy, downward shape. Because you get a nice round shape it looks pretty good. However you can try a size up and see if that helps. It did help my support when I was in the correct size. The lace was pretty loose on both sides for me in the correct size and I am FOT so it is made to be very accommodating to that shape.
This is not the most supportive bra I own, probably because the straps are quite stretchy. Curvy Kate just doesn't have the lift of Panache or Ewa Michalak. However, it is the narrowest UK bra I have found and it looks like you need narrow wires so this might be a good bra to wear until you can get your hands on another SM.
By the way, if you could measure that SM on the non-broken side and input it that would help us compare size data etc.

I adjusted the straps a little more and it seems to support more. I think the right cup is a little small still but I don't know if it's a whole cup too small. Maybe after washing and wearing a couple of times it will fit better. Meanwhile I'm keeping it because I have nothing to wear. I actually bought two because there was a sale. Lol. I added measurements for the Ewa SM for comparison. I will add the measurements for the rest of my bras later. I think I have another bra I haven't added yet too. It doesn't fit but I think all that helps.

It does! Thanks for adding them!

helpfulI feel like that band might be riding up on you, and this might explain some of the lack of support that other posters have observed. If you put it on the tightest hooks and readjust everything and scoop and swoop, does that improve the support? A lower band size might be worth trying if that is the case.
I don't like when the straps need to be adjusted a lot for support... I always fear that it is going to put undue pressure on the shoulders as the day goes on.

I will try fastening it on the tightest hooks. I didn't adjust the straps a lot so they aren't digging in. I wondered about a smaller band too because it is stretchy. I think part of the issue is the strap placement which might be helped by a smaller band.

Yes, I would definitely try a smaller band then. The straps look too far out for adequate support, you are quite right about that.
In your size range, band lengths and band sizing tend to be an EXTREMELY confusing gamble, with frustrating inconsistencies in stretchiness as well as unstretched length-- so trial and error is the name of the game. I would also suggest looking at blogs for ideas of other bras and brands to branch out to!

I've read a lot. The problem is in my size there isn't much available. It takes so long to order from Poland too. I stalk ebay and have bought several from there. I'm taking some to a seamstress this weekend to see about alterations/repairs.
For this one after trying the smallest hook and swooping and scooping like my life depended on it I definitely need a couple sizes larger for the right side. My recommendations say 38J for CK so I'm going to return the other and try that size. I might be able to return both because I bought them from Kohls. Their return policy is great which is part of why I bought them there. They were on sale too. I didn't believe the recommendation because others had said it wasn't accurate but now I'm not so sure it's wrong.
I'm also thinking about ordering an S style from Ewa. I have the S Diament multiway in 95GG and even without the cookies it's too small. I think a 90HH might work but if you have a suggestion please let me know. I'm going to email them to see what they think too.

Have you done a search by measurements here on Bratabase? It looks like you would need a cup depth 14" or possibly a hair less in some styles... that cup volume is indeed hard to find in small bands but in the 36-40 range you should still have a good number of options unless you have other fit challenges. Have you tried brands such as Elomi, Elila or Goddess?

I have searched by measurements some but need to do it again. I need to measure the rest of my bras and take pictures of those too.

None of them fit perfectly. The two prima donnas are too small in the cups and too big in the bands. The Ewa BM is too big in the band. The best fitting one is the Ewa SM but seems too big in the cups to me. I broke the underwire on the larger side so I can't even wear it right now.
