Curvy Kate » Portia Balcony Bra (CK4001) » 36K 36:15
This bra fits well in the band, though I usually prefer 38, but as you can see I have a fair amount of quad boob at the top and gapping at the strap. I'm looking for suggestions on what bra I should try since my size is on the large end of things and options are limited. Measuring my bust, I should wear either a 38K or KK.

helpfulEwa Michalak (a polish brand) has a 'full bust' model which you would be like at the bottom of, size wise. But yes, you mostly have to order those directly from Poland. Its a scary step but a lot of us have learned its worth it!
But did you start by putting your size in to the search bar at the top? that will bring up bras in that size entered here. I know there's a UK brand that goes that large. We have a few women in that range here.
(i wear 32/34 J/JJ and my bras are all either Ewa Michalak or Panache)

Have you tried the Panache Thea? It looks similar to one of my favorite bras, the Panache Floris.
-
No, i only have floris and jasmine. I loved floris in 32J but when I outgrew them, I tried a JJ and it was waytoo big - but i grew a bit more, so I just bought one NWT from someone, and it seems to fit ok. havent washed it yet.
I cant wear plunges - my boobs fall out of them

I do have to second the suggestion that you look at Polish bras, but the price might be an issue; the FB Ewa Michalak cut has a bit of a surcharge, ~$100 new.

These are all on sale for ~$77, but in your shoes I would want to try the biggest sizes in one of her other cuts before I sprang for an FB, especially as this could be a shape mismatch.

here are 2 bratabase users modeling and discussing the FB in a 75 (34) KK

Not sure if you're in the US, but Levana Bratique sells EM bras. I've never ordered from them, but found out about them through some posts on Bratabase. They do offer the FB bra. Returns wouldn't be as much of a hassle as ordering directly from EM (if you're in the US anyway). Shipping cost looks fairly reasonable. Looks like they have the US size listed, with the EM size in parentheses next to it. You'll still have to wait a while for your order, but it may be worth a shot!

helpfulPortia is a little shallow and this one looks really shallow as my 40J is an inche deeper and about an inch narrower as well. I'm somewhere around your size (40J or so) and for a second I thought I was looking at my boobs! Because of our shape and size similarities, looks to me like you are fairly short rooted and full on top, which can be hard traits to fit.
How are the wires on you? How narrow do you think you could you go? Are they low, just right? Because for me Panache is just too tall and wide. I'm omega shaped too so bras with a lot of lift push my breasts back onto my chest wall and I get a crease at the top of my boob. That's what happens to me in all EM bras but the BM (probably the FB would be good too as it's basically a larger BM)
RollsAndCurves is about the same size as you and has a blog where she does reviews. I believe she's a 36KK-LL. She's tried the FB from Ewa Michalak so she could advise.

Hi! I actually looked at your boobs while searching different bra options and thought they looked similar to mine as well! I was going to try the CK Princess because I thought it looked similar to the Portia but after seeing your review and pictures I changed my mind. I do have a problem with the upper part creasing when my brests are lifted, I never get a smooth transition from armpit/chest to breast. Soo envious!
I actually really like the height of the underwire for the CK and the gore height isnt so high, whereas the Panache come all the way up to my armpits and dig in there.

RollsAndCurves Would you recommend trying a FB or seeing if I can fit a BM Ewa Michalak? I know many of them don't go to K but I thought about trying a J or a JJ.
-
I would recommend Elomi but the wires do stretch back over time and they are pretty closed on top which causes me problems. But you can try the Cate or a plunge like the Danielle or Carmen. Actually I didn't like the fabric of the Carmen but RollsAndCurves didn't mind it. I do like their plunges a lot because they have lots more center room which helps with my top fullness too. I struggle with the center/top of their full cups cutting in or pushing me east/west.

helpfulYou might try Curvy Kate Bardot or Ellace as they are a little bit better built for larger breasts. I love my Curvy Kates for their short wires, but ugh, RollsAndCurves couldn't be more right about the lack of actual support and reinforcement for larger breasts. Portia is a great sitting on my ass all day bra but I was in a ton of pain the one time I wore it to work. Princess and Daily Dream also have more room at the wire than Portia.
Panache makes several styles in up to a K cup, though nothing in a KK and they top out at 38 in the band. Unfortunately Panache's "plus size" range only makes up to an HH cup and not even in every style and ooh, don't get me started on Sculptresse.
I would particularly recommend Panache Thea. It's advertised as good for lifting heavy breasts and I have to agree. It ultimately did weird things to my boobs but dang, that uplift. The spring/summer pink colorway can still be found at a discount. FWIW, I found the band to be pretty stretchy, which is unusual for Panache.
Ellia is a less well known brand in our size range. Their bras are somehow even less exciting than Elomi's, but they look REALLY comfortable.

helpfulOut of curiosity, have you tried this same bra in 38K? It'd be a cup size bigger, in theory, which might possibly help you determine how much depth you need in other bras...
I mean, I'm not suggesting you wear the 38K, since you say this band is fine, and going up a band unnecessarily just gives a bra less longevity, since it'll stretch out and be useless faster. But it might help for size diagnostics.

I've never been able to find one in a 38K or I would have!

helpfulThe curvy Kate Portia is a cup size too small. You can try the bravissimo Alana in 38KK-L. That bra has a deeper gore. Good luck! I hope this helps.

I have been eyeing the Ewa bras but the FB seem so scary big. I don't know if I should try the largest of her Plunge of Balconette's or if I should just go for it and do the FB.
