Issue resolved
I'm going to try a cup size up and see if that helps.
Original problem
My Wellfitting demi bra finally got here! It's really close to fitting right, but I'm not even sure what the problem is.
Things that are good:
- The band is perfect. Tight enough not to move around, enough stretch that I don't notice it at all once I put it on and settle it.
- The bottom of the cup sits right in my IMF, even when I sit down!
- I really, really love the way it looks head on.Things that are bad:
- The top of the gore floats. Why? Are my breasts too close-set and pushing the gore out a bit? Are the wires too soft? Is it because the cup is too small? It seems pretty close to right to me, maybe a teeny bit too small on my larger size. As far as I can tell, I'm getting a pretty good tack on the bottom third of the gore. It's just the top part that's a problem.
- Because the gore floats (I think), I get all this weird gaping in the cup towards the center.
- Empty space under the strap on one side.
- Weird pulling at the fabric on the sides of the cup.So what exactly is the problem here? Should I try a cup size up, or a different style?

helpfulI vote for a cup size up It's just not fitting your larger boob (story of my life, lol, I can fit biggie or smallie perfectly but never both). For a low coverage style like this on a 14" boob you REALLY need it to tack and be secure. Otherwise those straps are going to cut into your shoulders like cheese wire due to the instability of the whole bra.

Someone in a size range of quite respectable boob weight/volume recently was able to find a successful fit in Comexim, so I think there is reason to be optimistic :-) If the gore isn't tacking then the whole bra is standing away from your body so any gaping is just a feature of that. Also remember a non-tacking gore or any other factor that diminishes the amount of support and containment coming from the band/wires, is going to transfer all that strain and weight to the straps, and sometimes that pulls the straps straight out and causes gaping that way.

helpfulI also agree that you should go one cup size up because of the quad. The gapping is because the cup is slightly too tall there and you probably have short roots with full on top breasts causing a crease or gap right there that on someone who is full on bottom or has taller roots will fill. Doesn't mean you're not filling the bra, you're just never gonna fill that spot in a fitting bra. I have that on all my bras. Even if you size up the gore might float slightly, soft wires do that. However, I get support anyway though my gore doesn't quite tack in Comexim because the cup is constructed well. I'm excited by how good this looks on you! Even with the quadding it's very nice looking and makes you look great!

Thank you! It's so close to fitting I almost just sent it back and threw my hands up in disgust when I realized it just wasn't quite right. Interesting point re: short roots. That would probably explain why I get that space in most of my bras!

Yeah, I'm definitely not getting the kind of stability I want wendybien, and the gore and gaping issues are exacerbated when I sit or stand in any other position than perfectly upright. I was just thrown off by the gaping and at first thought the cup was too small! So I was hesitant to go up a size. The wires just feel so soft - will they really tack in my size, you think?
I guess there's no harm in trying, as I've got free exchanges and otherwise I'll just return it anyway!
