Issue resolved
cups are simply too tall!
Original problem
On paper this is the perfect bra for me -- immediate projection, but not too super projected over all, open-on-top half cup, snug band etc. -- but I get a TON of gaping at the top when I move even a little bit. My S&S will NOT stay put and despite being really snug, I feel like I have to adjust the band all the time. I have no idea what's going on here, but am very sad because it's such a beautiful bra and I really thought it was going to be The One.
My one possible diagnosis is that the underwire shape is wrong for me -- it's a very gradual curve, kind of like a sideways ")" -- which is causing my S&S to vanish. There's not very much information about this bra out there, but maybe it runs big in the cups too?

helpfulI get the same issues with bras based on the Anise cut. I find them big in the cups, but most of all - they just have too much cup height for me, and thus I cannot fill the top.
I'd suggest to look for bras with less cup height and perhaps shallower cups - the Masquerade Georgiana (5471) fits beautifully in your size range and shape, but sadly it's discontinued.
Maybe you can find one or one of its cut sisters on eBay, Bratabase, or braswap. The Masquerade Angie Balconnet Bra (7171) is presumably based on the Georgiana cut, but has slightly more cup height. It might still be a better fit than this one.
Besides that, Cleo Juna Balconnet Bra (6461) and Cleo Juna Animal Balconnet Bra (7731) have cut similar to the anise. They have one vertical seam in the cups, but considerably less cup height.
When trying on the Juna or any of its many sister cuts, keep in mind that the lace is not supposed to lay flat. It's usually a little loose when the bra is in the correct size and that may seem weird at first, but that's not visible under clothing. In case you end up finding the wires of all these bras too narrow for you (if the wires hurt your sides, or boob tissue keeps escaping), take a look at Libby's list of wide root shallow friendly bras (link: http://www.bratabase.com/adventures/entry/2346/), and scroll down to the paragraph starting with "The main reason why we started our "research" was that there are a number of women who need even wider wires /shallower cups than the bras listed so far provide."
These bras have wider wires than Cleo/Panache/Masquerade bras usually have.Updated on February 19, 2016 Flag this

Yay, glad I could help :)
Oops, and I forgot to mention that the Cleo Maddie Moulded Balconnet T-shirt Bra (7091)/Cleo Maddie Spot Moulded T-shirt Bra (7881)/Cleo Maddie Pop Moulded Balconnet T-shirt Bra (7741) and Cleo Karen (6881) are essentially the same cut as Masquerade Georgiana, but in a molded shape.
Make sure you order the print-patterned version of the Maddie (the solid colored ones have a really stiff cup rim that tends to gape at the top).
Might also be worth a try, if molded bras are an option for you.Good luck with your search :)

helpfulLooks like it is just made for taller boobs than yours. The center of each cup is really tall compared to most bras as well--this would probably be a difficult fit even on someone who has average height boobs.

helpfulI think this is a shape mismatch; I think if you went down a cup it'd be too small. I'd look for something with less room up top.

helpfulJust going off the measurements the cup may even be to small. But sense you have lose fabric at the top, I'd have to say the shape is off.

Super helpful, thank you! I was actually recommended Juna by someone the other day too, so that one's on my wishlist for sure. Georgianna looks beautiful too -- I'll try to track it down. Angie seems to be pretty readily available, but the cup height thing does worry me. I wonder if it's a scaling issue -- I can't think of many women of my size/shape/volume whose breasts go up that far.
