Bra fitting help » spillage on top - but it looks worse in the next cup size up
Simone Perele » Inspiration 3 Way Memory Foam Bra (12W361) » 65E 30:5
Issue resolved
Herroom allowed me to return this bra, and I will look for something else with a different cup shape.
Original problem
30E fits perfectly in the bottom half of the cup, but it cuts a quadboob line on top. So I tried the next larger cup size, but 30F was actually a lot worse. 30F cups were too wide, and too flat, enough to flatten me noticeably - and 30F still had a quadboob line across the top. The 30F flattened quadboob fit looked worse than the 30E rounded quadboob fit (to me anyway). I have pictures of the 30F too.
Maybe I need a brand with narrower, deeper cups instead of wide flat cups so I can size up without having extra room around the underwire. Or maybe I need cups that have more room at the top and the same amount of room on the bottom. Or maybe I just need cups that are closer together. I don't know. I don't live anywhere near a good bra store, so I don't know which bras to try.
I also need straps that cross in the back (or at least attach close to the center in the back), because otherwise the straps will fall off my sloped shoulders.

helpfulI believe you should try 30E and 30F when trying on new bras because you might find that some fit you better in 30E and others fit you better in 30F. That being said, yes, I do recommend a 30E with more projection or a 30F with narrower wires. You will also do well to find bras whose cups are closer together. Looking at the bras you have already tried, and Marie Jo and Simone Perele tend to have broad and shallow styles (from my personal experience). I recommend looking at reddit's A Bra That Fits Shape Guide to figure out if your shape has average projection or above average projection, whether your roots are medium or narrow, and whether your volume distribution is FOT, FOB, or neither. Once you have figured out your shape, try ordering bras that are known to cater to that shape.
As for needing a criss-cross back bra, you can get the same effect by buying a racerback converter clip: http://www.iherb.com/Hollywood-Fashion-Secrets-Bra-Converting-Clip-Fashion-Edition-3-Plastic-Clips/64173?CAWELAID=120224250000013080&gclid=Cj0KEQiAxMG1BRDFmu3P3qjwmeMBEiQAEzSDLvrZTmY8Iuih4MgAzxsYc3aQbl7_ohLPIReEPUPU3oMaAoOI8P8HAQ
***EDIT***
I forgot that 65E in Simone Perele is really 30DD in UK sizing. I now recommend that you try 30DD and 30E bras by Cleo and Freya.Updated on February 2, 2016 Flag this

Cleo Marcie is a good one for FOT, medium breadth roots, and average projection. If your roots are very narrow and you have well above average projection, it won't work.
Freya Deco Plunge is also a good one for FOT and narrow roots. I recommend you try both bras in 30E and 30F.

Thank you! :)

I totally forgot that 65E in Simone Perele is actually the same as 30DD in UK sizing. Simone Perele I believe is French and Marie Jo is Belgian so their "E" cups are not the same s UK "E" cups.
I recommend you try the Cleo Marcie and the Freya Deco Plunge in 30DD and 30E.

That makes sense ... thank you!

I tried Freya Deco first and it worked perfectly for me :) Thanks again!

helpfulThis bra appears very much a 'standard' moulded style, as found in many brands.
Suited for breasts that are further apart, not full on top, not so projected. Your own analysis seems spot on: you need more depth, a narrower gore, more openness on top and probably more projection.(FWIW, this is exactly how I look in a too small 'regular' bra (non-full bust brands)
Can you return or resell this bra? Narrowing the gore may also improve your fit (this alteration tends to give more depth where you're quadding now). Here's an example; https://brasticmeasures.wordpress.com/2015/01/04/fit-issues-center-heaviness-is-a-dominant-shape-trait/If you like unpadded bras; Panache Jasmine, Envy and perhaps Clara may be good bets! They all have forgiving stretchy lace on top, which allows for more fullness without quadding.
And I agree with Saskia_C about Cleo Marcie! In padded bras, I've personally found Flirtelle to have good options with more openness on top. However, their wires are average-to-wide. Freya Deco that was recommended is a good option as well, although it is somewhat bulky (thick foam).
Good luck!

Thank you for the reply!
I am definitely thinking about finding a tailor to make that center gore narrower. I wonder if they could cut and resew the gore into the cups to avoid a fold? I want to make this bra work if I can because I really like the band (no exposed elastic), and the convertible straps, and the smooth/slick fabric that wouldn't catch on a shirt ... there are lots of good things about this bra, if it didn't give me quadboob :)
But if I can't get it working with an alteration then I'll resell it. Unfortunately I already took the tag off so I don't think I can return it.

helpfulI agree that taking in the gore may help, but I don't know that it would guarantee a decent fit.
A cup that is 6.0" wide and 7.5" deep is extremely shallow. It allows for breasts that are only 1.5" projected beyond your ribcage! Based on the numbers, here are some ideas for you to try. Hopefully someone with more experience than me with your size and shape can weigh in on some options:

Also, with problems with straps slipping, I think it would expand your options to find a cup and band that fit comfortably, then cut the straps off the back and resew them closer together. I wouldn't crisscross them because they would probably end up too short, but you could sew them quite close to the hooks and eyes in the back.
I have a little bit of experience with sewing and this would be WAY easier than taking in a gore.

Thanks so much! It helps a lot to see how you're doing that search. The info about which alterations are easier than others definitely helps too!

Thanks! I googled all of the above. I think I definitely have a "full on top" shape. I admit the explanation of root width and projection confused me a bit because it's all referring to bras that I don't own. But maybe "full on top" is enough for me to start looking - how do I find bras that fit that description?
