Bra fitting help » Back fat, straps too wide in front?

Issue resolved
I need to try bras made for high set boobs/short waist.
Original problem
I think this bra fits pretty well. This is the first bra I have found with a good fit so I need a second opinion.
My issue is that it creates some serious back fat. Is this just due to my squishy nature (I'm not in shape) or is it the bra itself? I also have scoliosis so one side is worse than the other, and I am pretty sure my shoulders are uneven.
Overall I think the shape is good, and my boobs are lifted. I wish I could find a bra that gives me better cleavage though. I also wish it didn't come up so far into my armpits because it shows in my shirts with more generous arm holes.

helpfulAt least in my experience, I find that this bra has elastics that are less stretchy than the powermesh, so there's unequal tension causing the elastics to cut in more while the fabric gives way. Being a bra maker myself, it can be quite difficult to equalize the tension so that the elastics and powermesh compress equally, so some bras will cut in more than others. Being a bit squishy does contribute as well, but the overall fit looks really good. Your body measurements and the bra measurements also look good in comparison, so I would blame it on the problem fabrics!

skyepilot Sorry, no other personal recommendations! The Marcie doesn't fit me perfectly (a bit too wide and shallow in shape for me) so I rarely wear it any more and don't have other bras like it. :(
On the Marcie 32F page, the middle column has "These will also fit" and "Bras with the same cut," you should try looking at those pages and compare the measurements and photos to the Marcie to see if you can find something similar. :)
Good luck! ^_^

helpfulBack fat is not really a fit issue, but the skinny cleo bands do make it worse sometimes. Its weird about the straps because your shoulders look plenty broad to handle them, but they are totally up in your arm pits, arent they. anyways, you could always try a longline, maybe. i dont think cleo makes any tho

helpfulOne thing you can do for the back is to loosen the straps a bit and pull the band down in the back. It's firm enough -- it should stay there. This will also give you better support.
For the wide straps -- this is a balconette, so it does have wide set straps. But they do look quite wide, maybe too wide, in the pic. It's difficult to tell without a side shot, so if you could update with one that would be great. It's possible if there is any extra room in the cup that you could go down one cup size, and this will bring the straps in. Cleo is designed to be low under the arms, so normally they shouldn't show too much under tops.

Thanks for the reply! I updated 2 new side/angle shots. Does that help?
I'm only 5'2 and my natural waist is only about 1 hand width below my boobs, so bras might just fit high up on my body?? I am having this problem with just about every bra I have tried on. So far this one and a Pour Moi? have been the best fit. :/

Yep, you are for sure in the right cup size, thanks for posting those!
Bras with more centered straps will have a tendency to be uglier/more matronly, but there are definitely exceptions.
Some more centered straps to look out for: Fantasie Rebecca, almost any Wacoal, several Chantelle styles including Rive Gauche (both unlined and t-shirt, the unlined is better imo), and the Panache Sport, both wired and unwired.
Chantelle is pretty pricey, but if you figure out your size (prob 32F or G) you can find them on ebay inexpensively.

helpfulmine do that too. is it possible you're high set? (based off the bra being in your armpits and your apex being pretty high). I'm high set, and I think that bras sit on top of the end of the ribcage or something, but I have a good bit of fat there anyway.
I second the longline idea, I had a comexim longline and I had zero rolls with it.Updated on June 2, 2016 Flag this

I probably am high set. I'm 5'2 and really short waisted with a fairly short torso. "low rise" jeans hit me right under my bellybutton and my natural waist is about 4" under my boobs.

Thanks for the advice. In your experience can you recommend any other bras that are similar in width and shape? Bratabase isn't giving me very many recommendations right now. I have a problem with a lot of bras being way too wide, such as Freya half cups.
