Bra fitting help » Cup wrinkles at bottom, top
Gossard » Glossies Moulded Bra (6271) » 30DD 30:5
Issue resolved
The band didn't seem super tight, but the pull was distorting the wires and making the cups fit more shallow. An extender helped way more than I thought it would!
Original problem
Meh - that's how I feel about this fit. It's not super great. It's not super horrible. Most of my fitting bras are in 30E, but I made a last minute decision to order this in 30DD after looking at some reviews.
I'm wanting some opinions on what is going on here - too big? too small? just the wrong shape? I'm not too sure on my shape still.
From the front I feel like it makes me look flattened out and wide, but from the side I don't think the wire width or shape is bad or really very flattening. Maybe that's just a consequence of how sheer it is.
The cup wrinkles at the bottom mostly, but I'm afraid that if I sized up the wrinkling on top would get worse and the cups would just be too tall. I think the full cup shape doesn't really suit me.
Edit: I updated my measurements to show include all the fields. I did try swooping and scooping and tightening and untightening the straps. Tightening them a little helps with the wrinkling on top.

helpfulIt looks to be fitting a bit shallow but I would suggest you see what happens when you throw on an extender (without elastic). Gossard runs notoriously small in the band, plus the numbers here suggest it's on the smaller side of OK for you, and it makes more of an indent on your torso than I'd expect given that you are quite slim. All of this suggests that while it may be comfortable, it could be just tight enough that it is throwing off the fit of the cups a little.

Yes, worth a shot! Seamless cups are often rather shallow anyway, but who knows. Gossard is reputed to have quite good depth in general, not sure about the Glossies in particular.

Thanks for this suggestion! I didn't feel the band of the bra was super tight on me originally, but an extender really did help - it helped the cup width not to stretch out, so it remained narrower and allowed more projection.
I always see this suggestion given and was doubtful, but now I'm behind it :) I wish I had with some previous bras haha.

Yes it's a super secret bra ninja trick ;-) No seriously, it's always something that's subject to experimentation because adding length to the band won't do a bit of good if the cups are just constructed too shallow from the start. But if the shallowness is partly caused by excessive lateral pull due to a tight band, yes, it can help to add an extender!
Also re: sensation, although most people are sensitive on their ribcage and will immediately object to a band tighter than it needs to be, a surprisingly substantial minority can tolerate super snug bands without feeling discomfort. So it's deceptive, because they feel perfectly fine in it, but it could still be tighter than the designer intended and thus the tightness is doing bad things to the fit of the bra in other regards.

helpfulWrong shape. The wires look too wide and there is not enough depth at the bottom of the cup for the amount of immediate projection you have. It looks like your breasts are pushing down the bottoms of the cups and underwire, which happens when a bra is too shallow at the wire for your shape.

Agreeing with this! I was just thinking that it seems like your boobs are forcing the cups downward because they aren't getting the room they need.
Unfortunately you might have to abandon this model in particular. : ( -
You're right - when I took it off, the marks left by the wires were pretty far from my IMF.
Ughh, I want it to work so badly :( I love how it feels under t-shirts and it's pretty comfy, but yeah, I probably can't deal with the wrinkling.
Thanks!

helpfulWhat is the stretched band measurement?

About 29.25 - I'll add that in. The wires are softer and flexible, I think they're stretching wider with the band.

It's about time I grab an extender anyway, so it's worth a try :)
