Bra fitting help » Gapping/Gore not tacking, why?
Curvy Kate » Daily Dream Padded Balcony Bra (CK4501) » 40HH 40:12
Issue resolved
1. Will try this bra in a cup size smaller
2. Will try bras with lower gores and shorter cups, specifically Comexim and EM
Original problem
I know that this bra is too shallow at bottom and that's why I get wrinkling at the bottom. What I don't understand is why I also get gaping at the top unless I push my arms against my body to stop the underarms from gaping and push the gore to my sternum. Why is the gore not tacking AND I'm getting gapping? It's just such an odd fit. Do Ewa S bras avoid this by providing projection at the bottom? I fit Curvy Kate Princess in this size perfectly for reference. I was hoping to get cakes on a plate in this bra.

helpfulYes, it is too shallow for you. The Princess is one of Curvy Kate's most projected styles; the Daily Dream is significantly shallower. I'm seeing a short rooted shape in tall bra cups too. In addition, At first I thought that the gore might be too wide for you but then I checked your review of the Princess, which has roughly the same width of gore. The major difference between the gore of the Princess and the gore of the Daily Dream is that the Princess has a 3.5" tall gore while the Daily Dream has a 4.3" tall gore.
EM is a good brand to research because they have multiple styles with the projection that you need. For maximum comfort at the gore, make sure that the gore of whichever style(s) you want to buy are 3.5" or lower.

My EM bras in the PL cut measure 3" for the gore in a 40" or 100 cm band :) I am an G which is an F in EM so you would likely be a 100H in EM? Email and ask :)

Thanks roxannelovesbras ! I'm always nervous since they speak Polish! But if you can do it I can too!

Yes keep your English simple and they understand just fine.

helpfulThis cup is just too big, period and that is why you have extra space all over. The whole bra is fitting very loose and that can sometimes cause the gore not to tack.

Do you agree that it's too shallow for me? Is that what's causing the fold over at the bottom? Do you think it's worth it to size down?
-
It is really difficult to assess shape compatibility when a cup is much too big or too small. Folds at the bottom can also occur when there is insufficient surface tension due to the cup being too big. However, just looking at the bra, the design certainly doesn't appear to be shallow at the base, on the contrary! If you like it and can do free returns and exchanges I would certainly think it is worth trying in a smaller cup size.

Ok thanks! This is an Amazon bra so I will try that. The wires certainly feel like they are in the right spot or a bit wide so I'd like it to work if I can.
-
yes it is certainly worth a shot. I know a lot of ladies in your general size range who have had success with CK styles like this, I think it's a size range where generally they have put out some good designs, so it's worth trying!

helpfulI'd say lack of projection and too tall cups. The cups are clearly too small for you depth wise, thats why the gore wont tack. Tall cup issues are pretty standard for high set people. The gore also looks too tall for you. I second EM, although you might still get gaping at the top (its a hit or miss for me, I'm high set as well)

Yeah I'm high set and so pendulous I only have a few inches of breast tissue attached to my chest. It's hard being high set and short rooted in my size :(

Could I do Comexim with reduced cups maybe?
-
ah you must be really projected then! Yea, I'd say over estimate how much you need reduced, because in my experience they are super duper tall. Comexim is more shallow toward the center, if that is relevant to your fullness (I have issues with them bc that).

That might be problematic unless the gore is really low. I might try out Wellfitting then since I can send a bra back easily if it doesn't work and get an idea of what size I need before I start customizing. This is so helpful to me, thanks!

no problem! my abracadabra from wellfitting is my BEST fitting bra. It didnt have any alterations either (I'm short rooted too). I got my normal EM size (which I think is like +band and +cup from UK?) I heard that their sizing is really iffy though, but yea they do have a good return policy. Still debating on getting a green longline.

I don't see any EMs in my sizes with that low of a gore. Are there any other brands in my size range that sell actual plunges with narrow wires? That's why I've been looking for Curvy Kates that fit. Elomi is too wide and it seems no one else makes low gores in my size.
