Bra fitting help » Straps dig in to armpit, cups too small?

Issue resolved
Band to tight, cups to small, not a good shape for me
Original problem
After trying the Cleo Maddie I went for an unpadded bra in the Cleo Kali. The fit is better then the Maddie but the cups seem a tad small in the 32d but too loose in the 32dd. The straps dig into my armpit as well. The band fits ok and I can fill in the bottom just fine. I also think I get a slight cone shape in this and wonder if the straps being too wide cause this.
Any suggestions on where to go next or what to try?

helpfulIt looks like the cups are too small, therefore there is boob tissue that gets squished to the sides and into your armpit, making the straps rub.
Did you scoop and swoop after putting it on to make sure all boob tissue is inside the cups?I usually recommend Cleo Marcie to people who don't fit Lucy or Kali, but I would rather recommend one of the more projected Marcie-clones like Meg, Lily or Erin to you. Your shape looks rather projected with lots of immediate projection and not too much fulness on top, so these 3 might be a better option to try than Marcie.

helpfulI really think the band runs small in this Kali. I measured the stretched band several times and can only get 28-29 without stretching beyond normal amount. I know normal amount is diff for everyone so maybe I need to try a 34 c or d for a better fit.

Well do try that, but I think the super tapered V shape of your upper torso may also be playing a part... bands that fit your underbust (where you are smaller) may be too tight to accommodate the broader part of you that's higher up, at the level of the bra wings. But if this Kali also runs supertight do try an extender and see what happens!

Oh I never thought out how tapered I might be. That's something I'll consider. Thanks

Yes a sharply-tapered torso can make things a bit complicated when you are slightly built with moderate breast volume because bra designers tend to fail to anticipate that you could have some substantial side tissue needing either support or freedom from poking, and on top of that most bra designers don't deliberately allow for a big difference between underbust and overbust in terms of a bra's overall construction. BUT you should be able to find a decent selection of bra designs that do accommodate this, either by using nice soft materials with a lot of side coverage and strap placement/cup top/wing design that doesn't cut in, or by doing a very low coverage design at the sides and narrow-set straps that basically leave that area undisturbed. Some people with your build do seem to feel that nonwired bras are a better fit though, especially now there are a lot of formed, molded options that look and feel just as firm in their support/uplift.

I tried some bras on at Nordstrom s today. I found that a lot of the chantelle line flatter me the best. I loooovvvee the fit of the chantelle merci demi. I ended up fitting in a 32e (dd in US size) but I wish they had it in nude. I had to order the black so I'll get good photos and measurements when it arrives. I also got the chantelle merci spacer in 32d but I couldn't decide if it fit better then the 32dd. The others that fit well were wacoal lace finesse 32e, chantelle vous et mois 32d and chantelle parisian 30dd. Although I do think most chantelle run large in the band and I wanted to try most of these in a 30 but Nordstrom s didn't carry any.
I think I do best in high center gore bras too. I set out thinking wider cups would help but the chantelle merci demi is only 5 inches wide but 8.8 inches deep. So after the whole swoop and scoop it fits really well.

Thanks for the suggestion. I definitely scooped and swooped when trying this on. I did try this in a 32dd as well but the cups became a bit wrinkled near the top. Still had the rest of the issues but the band was way too tight even if the cups were fine. :)
