Bra fitting help » Starting point; trying to find a bra that works with new shape.
Panache » Andorra Full Cup Bra (5675) » 38H 38:11
Trying to find a well fitting bra, my size and shape changed after having a baby! Very soft, FOT (starting to get an omega shape, though), more fullness on the sides. Cups don't fit - gapping at the bottom, tissue pushes out of side and back. The gore tacks okay, but the band rides up in the back no matter what. And it doesn't feel like it's supporting my breasts at all.
Have tried lengthening/tightening straps, pulling up on center gore, adjusting sides. If I try to pull the back level, the gapping at the bottom and tissue spillage gets worse.

helpfulfor starters, congrats on the baby! I hope it is healthy. Yeah, your tissue will probably be pretty soft for a while. If you can do a laying perimeter measurement that would be really helpful. If you struggle to get all the tissue to balance even when you tilt your body on your side, you might be able to get a better measurement in the bathtub. If the bath water is just deep enough the cover about half of your tissue (from your chest wall) and you tilt a touch to get it all balanced, the floating can help you get a good measurement.
The pics look like this might be about the right volume, but the measurement would really help that with the side escaping. What the wrinkling at the bottom of thr cup indicates is not enough immediate projection. With the Andorra, that is not a surprise. You might try a Cleo Marcie, a Ewa Michalak BM, or a Gorsenia.
As to the band, do you think you could go down a size? That might fix the riding up, even if you need to use an extender for the first few months. Alternatively, it could just be the way your weight has distributed itself post baby and it might ride up for a while no matter what. With the band riding up, does it feel ok? If it feels tight enough, you may just have to put up with it for a couple months. If it doesn't settle, check your breast base height measurement. If it is relatively similar to pre-baby, (if you know) then the riding up might just be the bra compensating for the shape mismatch. If you try some Ewa Michalak BMs and have the same problem, then I don't know what to say.
Good luck!

If you use the bratabase measurements instructions, you measure your largest breast fromthe outside edge of your root to the inside edge of your root over top of the nipple. It is best if you lay on your back and then tilt sidways so that your breast tissue "balances" on your chest wall. The goal is to get gravity to do the lifting and compressing for you so that you can measure the depth of your breast at its smallest, most compact shape - approximately the depth you want your bra to have

Thanks again! I got 13.5", so (I think I got this) I need to find bras with cups that deep to make sure it all fits in.
I'm thinking the full-cup style might not be my friend, either! Pre-baby/breastfeeding, my best fitting bra was a Freya Rapture (38FF). It's now obviously too large in the band and much too small in the cups, but it still looks better than the Andorra did. I did try the Rapture in a 36H and although it fit better, there was a little quad-boob going on.

helpfulIf you look at the numbers, your band stretches out as far as your 'loose' measurement. When we are fleshy, we need stretched to be no bigger than our comfortable ribcage, usually (esp w bigger boobs). So i'd definitely try a 36, at least in anything this stretchy.
I dont see anything escaping the sides . . . that bra comes most of the way up in to your armpits. I'm wondering if the cups are actually too narrow for you - this can also cause you not to fill the bottom of the cups. But to be honest, the cups look maybe too big to me? You dont look super supported and the top looks like its laying flat on you.

Thank you! I'll try these suggestions and see what happens. I was just saying, I think this might be an issue where the full cup is not my friend. I never thought the cups would be too narrow though, I'll definitely be looking at that!

I'm a bit newer at this, so I'm sure more experienced ladies can give more specific advice, but from reading your description and seeing the measurements, my first thought was that the band size is too big. (I think you figured that one out. :) )
The cup depth and wire length seem really long, though maybe that's me. You and I have similar measurements apart from the ribcage and the breast base height. I've found that balconettes and demi bras work well for me (and 3-part cups). I love the Freya bras, too.
That's a bummer that the 36H Rapture didn't work for you.

Thank you! As far as the band goes, I bought a couple of 38s thinking that was the right band size, and all of them ride up. I can pull them pretty far away from my body too, so I probably do need to go down a band size.
I'm not exactly sure how to measure laying perimeter (I assume lay down and measure around fullest part), should it be quite snug or looser?
