Bra fitting help » How many sizes too small?
Cleo » Marcie Balconnet Bra (6831) » 30G 30:9
Issue resolved
Definitely need a bigger size and I have a better understanding of how to use my measurements with the measurements in the database to find a better fitting bra.
Original problem
Obviously the cups are too small, especially with my larger breast. The gore isn't flat at the top (but is at the bottom), but I assume that is because of the lack of cup depth.
Is the slight wrinkling at the bottom due to a shape problem or size problem?
This is a 30g. I'm thinking of sizing up to a 32 band - what cup size would you recommend?
I am center-full, pendulous, slightly full on bottom, with immediate projection. I believe I have an avg sized root.

helpfulThe wrinkle at the bottom of the cup is likely just because you're so much too big for the cup that it's pushing it down. Have you tried it on backward before deciding if you want to size up the band? If it's this much too small in the cups that's probably making the band feel extra tight. My instinct is to say up a minimum of two cup sizes - the Marcie is so open on top though that you might need 3 and the shape could be disguising that if you're slightly FoB.

I swear I saw you post that? Maybe it was a different fit request?
-
hemingweights It is ultimately up to you in terms of comfort, but i would say the red flags are if it leaves bruising or welts after a day's wear it's too tight. Hard to test this if you can't wear it because it's so small! Wire digging might be band tightness, but could also be cup tilting, or just wires that need slightly bent to match the curved shape of your body. Sorry to not have anything more concrete but it's mostly a judgment call!

helpfulIt would be easier to say if you had your breast perimeter measurements. Its the measurement around one breast, and should line up fairly well with the volume measurement of the cup - so you can look at other Marcies cup depth measurements and try to figure it out by the numbers

but also, if the band is very much too tight, that could be flattening out the cups - do you have an extender you can try?
-
Unfortunately I don't have an extender. I can fasten the 30" band and it's not necessarily uncomfortably tight but I don't have any wiggle room at all, if that makes sense.

Not sure if I missed the one measurement? updated ones arent showing up. but yeah, I would think possibly 30HH or 32H.
Does your hotmilk still fit? because 32G would be the same cup size as 30GG - so this is one size smaller than your hotmilk. and if your hotmilk is too small, you obviously need at least one size bigger
-
I add the measurements but it didn't update in my original post. Should it?
Both my vertical and laying perimeter were around 32 cm.
The Hotmilk bra is definitely too small. I'm really mentally fighting with the idea that I'm bigger than a GG cup.
-
Trust me, I get it. When I first got here, I was a J cup - and i managed to be ok with it because I hadnt been wearing normally sized bras in so long anyways. But some padded bras you have to go up one cup size, and then I gained weight . . it was very hard biting the bullet and buying my first K cup :-O
But in the end, its just a label. And having a bra that really fits is more important than whats on the label.

helpfulMight want to include your breast perimeters in your measurements too as that can be helpful in narrowing down sizes. You may need at least 13 inches in cup depth considering your 13.4 horizontal perimeter but maybe 14 depending on your laying breast perimeter. That's 3 cup sizes up depending. And yes, the gore is not tacking at the top because there is not enough depth in the cup to accommodate your breasts. A band size up seems reasonable too given your comfy ribcage and tight ribcage are 30-32 but will depend on how snug the bands are fitting in the brand you choose plus your comfort level. I can't comment on this bra as I'm not familiar with it but maybe other reviewers have?

I just updated my measurements to include the vertical and laying perimeters.
I'm still trying to figure out exactly how to take my data and use it to find bras that would fit.
I'm getting 32 cm/12.5 inches for both.
-
Yes, me too! For myself, my horizontal perimeter seems to be the magical number for finding cup depth as my laying perimeters are larger. I think you need to search for a 13" depth in cup to start...that's about a HH or J in UK cup sizing (depending on band) so if you go to this link and then find your cup size and band size and click the number it gives you then a bunch of brands pop up within your size including measurements:
http://www.bratabase.com/browse/by-size/And browse through from there...you will have to do some trying to hone in on what fits best for your shape too.
That being said I bet someone else will jump in with suggestions for you who is similar in size/shape. Hoping they do :)

I'm really fighting the idea that I'm actually an H cup or larger. I seem to have a complete mental block and can't seem to admit it to myself b/c I've literally been cramming my breasts into too small bras for so long.
-
I hear you I really do! I wore a C for so long and an FF/G was so incomprehensible but that being said the proper size will be freeing for you I promise :) It is like the heavens open up when you get into the proper size.
-
There isn't really such a thing as "an H cup" though... there is a breast volume and then the volume of the person that the breast is attached to ;-)

I like that wendybien ❤

I think I've always had "imposter syndrome" with my boobs. Even after putting in my measurements, my brain still says "I'm not really that big."
I'm trying to accept it. I have a 32HH on the way to me now.
-
Totally understood hemingweights ! I think all of us can relate. I bet once you get a bra that fits and you aren't rearranging and twisting and pushing your breasts around for comfort and fit that will settle down for you. The right bra will lift and give you comfort rather than discomfort. An ill fitting bra makes you aware of your breasts all day thinking about adjusting them to fit back in. Hope that makes sense. I put on a well fitting bra now and forget about my boobs as I do not need to adjust all day :)
-
hemingweights, it is really true that once you find it fitting, do not even think about the numbers and letters on the tag. What fabulouslyfullfigure said, "...I wore a C for so long and an FF/G was so incomprehensible," is SO gigantic dittoes for me. I just could not accept that I was that big. And my best size, 40FF UK @40:8, I do not consider very large at all, but it fits.

helpfulHow does the outer cup wire feel? It looks like your breast tissue is in the cup.... Is so, I'm concerned Marcie will quickly become too wide (perhaps too tall, also) as you approach a better fitting depth. From my "seat in the park", you look narrow rooted.
I thought Curvy Kate Ellace might be a readily available, shorter option. But, its cup, like Marcie's, widens quickly. Gorsenia K200+ models are more narrow and projected. However, there is virtually no data in Bratabase. And, the data is confounded (wide and narrow patterns) until we better understand their different patterns. I know from owning a Gorsenia 65H Cheri, it is the most narrow, projected cup I have ever encountered (4.8" wide, 10.7" deep). It is possible a 65K (maybe a 65J) Cheri would present sufficient depth for you and a more narrow cup than Marcie, but it would be an experiment because I have no data to reference. And, there is a two week shipping wait from Europe. When you meed a bra that fits, two weeks can feel like eternity. Sigh.
Sincerely, I hope you find a great fit soon!!

The outer wire seemed like it *might* be the slightest bit too narrow but I can't really tell right there what is underarm squish and what is breast tissue. It isn't uncomfortable at all, during the short periods I have the bra on. I actually got really excited because the wires seemed to fit my breast root better than any bra I've ever tried. Unfortunately, I didn't think about the wires getting much wider as I size up.
-
Perhaps the wider wires will feel comfortable then. In a bath, breast tissue will float because it is less dense. Sometimes, it is easier to find it all in the water ;-)

I thought I replied to this yesterday but maybe it didn't post.
I did try it on backwards and it's still pretty snug but I'm not even sure how tight it's supposed to feel. (I've never worn a 30" band before.) It isn't uncomfortable but if I take a deep breath, the wires kind of dig into my ribs.
