Bra fitting help » Obviously too big but what can I learn from fit?

Issue resolved
Bra still too large but I have a better understanding of what gore/wing heights I need as well as wire width.
Original problem
I tried a Cleo Marcie in 30G that was way too small. Based on comments on that fit, I sought out a bra that had a 13" cup depth and found a great deal on this Panache Emily.
Yeah, 13" is definitely too deep for me. I had a ton of open space at the top of the cup and I felt like my boobs were flopping around in the bra.
But the band and wire kind of confuse me. It's a 32 band and feels snug but not too tight. Despite that, the wires are digging into my ribs right below my breasts. And the gore tacks fine at the bottom but sticks out at the top.
The wires feel way too wide for me but they seem pretty standard for the size. I definitely need a bra with narrower wires. And shorter as well because these were painfully digging into my armpit.
The width of the gore was fine.
I don't have a clue about the wrinkling under the boobs, other than it just being from lack of support, due to a too-large cup.

helpfulWhile its clearly too bit, there could be a few other issues, too. The wires look too wide, the cup might not be projected enough, and it may be more FOT than you are. Its hard to tell much when its so far off. I'd probably try a different bra, but 1 size down. i know the experimentation can be frustrating!

helpfulBecause the gore sits away for ok your sternum at the top, in my experience , this shifts the force of your breasts to a location on the wire near the center, under each breast. This sensation can also occur when a cup does not have enough immediate projection. The wrinkles in the bottom of the cup are often a sign of a too-shallow cup.
Because Marcie is readily available, you may want to try her in 32GG or 32H. Both sizes will be more diminutive in wing height, wire width, and gore height.
@cupandahalf Do you think a Curvy Kate plunge might fit? I know you've experienced great results with their plunges.
Alternatively, Gorsenia K200+ unlined balconettes will have the narrowest wires and amazing immediate projection as well as significant center projection. Ava Sunflowers has a very immediately projected cup, too. With both of these brands, a few weeks for international shipping is required. If you order through Other Eden, the bras can be returned to a location in the U.S. And, if you buy with PayPal and enroll in the free return shipping program BEFORE you purchase one of these bras with PayPal, Paypal will reimburse your return shipping costs.

cupandahalf , how do you know my roots are tall? That's something I keep questioning.
-
Ok, some of this takes experience with bras and looking at other people's pictures in comparison.
The gore on your bra is about 4 inches tall. That's pretty tall in this size. And if you look by the top of the gore you can see the curve of your breast starting about an inch above it. So that's probably the top of your root. That means your roots are more or less 5 inches high (you can measure this by running the tape from the bottom of your root, where the bottom of the gore rests, to the top where your breasts begin to curve, up your center line).
One way you can figure out if you are narrower than average, taller than average, etc. is to look at all bras in a size that might fit you, click on "measurements" and the sort by measurement type. In size 32H, for example, the average gore height is about 3.5 inches.

I HATE how high the gore is in this bra on me. I'm so glad that it isn't typical of most bras in my size.
-
Panache bras that aren't plunges tend to have tall wires in general. Envy and Andorra and a few others are lower though.
-
I continually forget about Freya plunges because the wire is not wide enough for me before the cup is too projected.. The plunges have a taller height than I can tolerate, but the gore height is lower than Panache/Cleo. The cups can be quite projected and narrow as well as accommodating taller roots. However, there is a remarakable difference between some of the cuts. For instance, Morning Meadow fit significantly better than Pansy. I do not yet understand the fit differences between the different plunge cuts. Anyone Freya who can enlighten me? Thanks :-)
And, Ewa Michalak BM model in 70GG may be comfortable. dbmamaz What do you think?

helpfulTry another Cleo balcony - Cleo Marcie Balconnet Bra (6831), Cleo Hettie Balconnet Bra (9011), Cleo Lucy (5851), Cleo Minnie Balconnet Bra (7431) - in 32H. By comparing the sizes in the same style, you can get more information. You can usually get a decent deal on an older colour design with Cleos. Panache is almost always wider and less immediately projected than Cleo. They are sister brands, but they make totally different bras. Your other commonly available and well known options for narrow and projected would be Curvy Kate Ellace Balcony Bra (CK4401), Curvy Kate Daydreamer Balcony Bra (CK5401) or a Flirtelle Ellie Balconette Bra (FL6401) or Flirtelle Anneliese Balconette Bra (FL6301) in 32HH (their cups run small). If you are feeling a bit more adventurous, but price conscious, you could try a Gorsenia unlined K200s series in 70K. Miss Mandalay in a band up and possibly a cup up (so 34H) might work - they are narrower and projected, but their sizing is a bit problematic and they can be more expensive. Keep at it!

helpfulIt's not a bra I think of because in my size it's too wide but whoever I search by measurements for a narrower cup with a little less depth for you, Curvy Kate Dreamcatcher Balcony Bra (CK2301) in 32GG keeps popping up. It's got a lower gore and lower sides, closer to that tiny Marcie you tried, but a lot more room in the cup than the Marcie. About 12.5 inches of depth. I dunno, you could try it and send it back if it doesn't work.

helpfulGoing to take advantage of the Amazon discount today and order a couple of bras.
Cleo Marcie - I'm not sure if I'm better in a 32H or GG since I don't have as much upper fullness?
CK Dreamcatcher - I looked at the measurements here and was about to put a 32GG in my cart but then saw that maddy2596 mentioned them running small and recommended a 32HH. Obviously there is a big jump between the 2 sizes so I'm not sure which way to go.
Suggestions?

Looking at your perimeters, the 32GG may be a good fit. If not, the 32H and 32HH are options. Curvy Kate can run a size small especially for those with taller roots. If you can, order a few sizes to help you best select the most comfortable and supportive option.
Because there is dramatic variation between models/brands and the associated measurements, a variety of sizes are often recommended. And, you may find a 32HH in several models a good fit :-)
Best of luck!!
-
Dreamcatcher: I would try a 32H as the wires on your Emily is too wide and a 32HH has the same width.
Marcie: I would try both sizes. The jump in cup depth from the GG to the H is an inch! Which seems like a lot.
-
The wing height on both Marcies (GG and H) looks higher than I can stand. They're awfully similar to Emily.
-
Wing height on Panache/Cleo is a problem for me, too. Curvy Kate, usually, is much more friendly under the arm.
-
You look quite high set. You may find you can tolerate bras that are narrower with higher wires though because they aren't in your armpits. But maybe not. It will take trying on a few more probably.
-
I just looked at some measurements.
Bras that might work considering root width, cup depth, wing height:
CK Daydreamer, 30H, 32GG
CK padded plunges (Kitty, temptress) 30H, 32H
CK Florence, Ellace, Madagascar, Belle, etc
30HCleo Lucy 30H
Good luck!
-
Daydreamer ran narrow for me in the 30G/GG. And, Ellace has great space for taller roots....if you need it ;-)
-
I found a couple of good deals on Amazon and ordered ck Florence (in a couple of sizes) and Dreamcatcher (bc I confused that with Daydreamer). I will report back!
-
I read a lot about Ellace yesterday but the wing height scared me off. I may have to get over that and try it.
-
You may be able to size down in Ellace. The material has some give and the top is stretchy lace.
-
OP's roots are quite tall so I don't know if a Plunge would be right for her. On top of that, the wires aren't any narrower, as far as I can tell.
