helpfulYou're right, these cups aren't even nearly covering your whole breast. You definitely need a much larger cup, I can't tell if the band fits since you only provided a front facing picture.
Try the calculator here: http://brasizecalculator.tk/ I'm guessing you've never been properly fitted, so the result might surprise you. You can look up your new size at http://www.brabandproject.com/ and see what people look like properly fitted, or you can look it up here.
Bras like VS have very stretchy bands that do not provide support. Most of the support from a bra comes from the band. Look into brands like Freya, Panache, and Curvy Kate which use properly strong materials in their bands to support a full bust. You can find these brands in the US on Amazon or eBay and sometimes at Nordstrom. Also, a molded cup like this will only sit on your breasts, not lift it. A seamed cup will give you better lift. There are padded seamed bras, if you prefer padding.

VS is notorious for cramming folks into too small sizes because that's all they have. From your perimeter measurement the cup depth on this bra are at minimum 2 inches too small and maybe even 3 depending on the other perimeters which have not been entered. Try the calculator linked above for more accuracy.

Thank you for your help - I am going to measure the bra again to make sure I did it correctly, but seems like a mute point and the cup size is just too small?
-
It is not necessary. This bra is too small. Try the calculator to see what size it recommends for you :)
-
The calculator recommended a 34E which seems crazy to me, but perhaps I have just never been fitted properly or wore the correct bra. Thanks to everyone for their help.

helpfulshort answer: no it does not look like it fits. Depending on how tight you prefer your bands, you might be in the right band according to your measurements, but you could probably try a 32 just to see how it feels. As to cup size, you, like most of the rest of the real world, do not fit in a traditional A-DD matrix. If you think of one cup size as one inch difference between snug underbust (which is the best starting point for actual band size) and comfortable total bust at its highest value, most women, especially those who have had children, are more than four to five inches different. Unfortunately, correct bra fitting can be a saga more involved than finding a flattering dress or pair of jeans. Have a look at some bra fitting blogs and around bratabase and see if you want to try finding something that is more comfortable and more flattering ** It IS possible - if somewhat frustrating. This is a site full of people on that very quest and there is tons of information and help available. Good luck!

Thanks for your help and suggestions. I used to wear 32 band size, but went up after nursing three children. After our last my cup size never went back to my pre-nursing size like it used to so finding much larger bras is a new project for me.

helpfulNo reason why you shouldn't keep it if it's comfy and works under low cut shirts. You may find you enjoy a more supportive bra under higher cut shirts as well. And there are low cut bras out there that will give you more support and lift than this one does if you want them. There are many shapes, cuts, and levels of support to choose from!

Paula50, I tend to sell things immediately if they don't fit well. And, I wish I hadn't done that. If it is comfortable, hang onto it until you have a viable alternative. Sometimes the journey to a bra that fits is long and uncomfortable. ;-)
-
Thank you - its not that uncomfortable, but just looking for the right size and style. I buy too many clothes so I feel your pain - lol

helpfulSo I am starting to learn from this site, but still have questions? Am I an FOB, center, etc... there were so many terms I never used to worry about, but I would like a nice fitting bra so I think I need to understand the terms. Thank you for your help.

Your shape can't be determined from one photo in a molded bra. You will have to try some seamed bras and see how they work to figure out what your shape is. If you want, you can continue to post fit checks in them so we can help you out. :)
FoB means full on bottom. The opposite of this is FoT or full on top. It's not related to being center full vs having outer fullness--a person could be FoB and center full, for example. But we can't tell this from one photo, especially in a molded bra which holds its own shape, so we can't see yours.

helpfulSo the problem is the gore doesn't sit against my chest? Is that a cup size issue or band? Thanks for your help.

It's not just that the gore isn't sitting flat--that's just one thing indicating that the cup is way too small for you.

helpfulSorry to say this but no it's not a good fit; Its creating cleavage which a proper fitting bra wouldn't do. You want all the breast tissue to fill snugly into the cup. That center part of the bra between your breasts should be resting on the skin perfectly; it doesn't look like that from the photo.
Victoria secret is notorious for marketing DD as their largest bras but in my experience; DD is actually very small; My sister is an 'I' cup who had the same problem with these brands; got a proper bra and she looks like a supermodel. Boutiques will give you a better selection.

Thank you for you help - it isn't uncomfortable, but did look small to me so it is now in the back of my lingerie drawer. Haven't been too satisfied with VS lately so need to find a new retailer.
-
Cleavage is possible in a properly fitting bra.
-
Once you get to a certain size, you might need to start buying bras on line. It might be worth going once to a pricey boutique type store to get a REAL fitting - as mentioned elsewhere, Victoria secret only sells bras up to a DD or maybe DDD - so they will SAY that you are one of those sizes, just to get you in a bra. But you will fit much better in something . . . else.
-
Thanks for your help - it seems clear I am no longer shopping at VS. I wasn't thrilled with my last purchase there and everyone seems to think I was sold the wrong size. I am going to have to learn the European sizing - when did this become so difficult? lol
-
for some reason, american corporations still get away with selling women bras that dont fit. it is the weirdest thing, in such a HUGE market, that they dont offer decent bras to women of all sizes
-
tho there is also a cultural prejudice - some ppl say that anyone with a D cup is a porn star . . . or they simply think you are lying if you say there are bras in other letters past D.
-
lol - I never thought there were many larger than a D or that I would be one! How do I upload a new picture - I want to add one with clothed view - thanks.
-
I wear a 32JJ!
I dont know exactly how . . .first look for something that says 'edit fit request' . . . then maybe manage photos?
-
I figured out how to add another pic - manage photos like you suggested. I can't even imagine going larger than a 36DD never mind a JJ - wow. Thanks for your help.
-
the thing is, cups are proportional to the band. So the 36DD is the same cup as a 34E or a 32F. but since victoria secrets doesnt carry Es or Fs, they increase the band size to where it doenst actually fit (usually)

I am looking at Chantelle now

Thank you for your help. I was fitted at VS and she told me either a 34DD or 36D. I don't really care about the padding and will take a look at a seamed cup if that is a better option for me.
