Bra fitting help » Madonna Boob effect- pointy projection
Panache » Envy Balconnet Bra (7285) » 32G 32:9
Issue resolved
exchanged for sister size down
Original problem
This seems to be a recurring theme with some of the balconnet style bras I've tried (like the Panache Jasmine)- it seems to be too pointy for my tastes. I'm sure it has something to do with the fact that the junction between the lower and upper cups if right around my nipple area and that I'm more FOB. Any suggestions for ones that don't cause the Madonna point but aren't too loose on top? Thanks!

helpfulIt looks like you have short roots, you're very projected and need depth at the wire. I believe Curvy Kate is designed for your shape. I don't have a recommendation for a specific style but hopefully others who would know better will chime in.

dbmamaz Envy was not a great fit for me either. I think I'm even fullness but I need a lot of depth at the wire as does OP. She could try a smaller cup but then it might not have the depth she needs.
I don't know fob bras either, I hope someone who does can help.

yeah, too shallow at wire for me too but crazy-round

Curvy Kate Vegas and Daydreamer are short root and full on bottom friendly. Ellace is awesome but can accommodate taller roots better than the aforementioned. Belle and Wildcat I haven't tried, but they are cut similar to Ellace.
I must preface this comment with: I've seen virtually no boobs except my own in the two bras I mention below. They are outstanding to me because of their ability to round and adapt to different breast shapes. Wacoal Halo and Bodysuede are fantastic rounding bras. You may need a 34 band in Wacoal models to get the cup volume you need. Suprisingly, their 34 bands often hold tightly on my 28" underbust.

dbmamaz So I just received the Panache Envy in 30GG and it fits much better. it's not pointy at all. but the side wing height seems a little high- it comes up almost to my axilla. I think the height may be enough to be too annoying to be worth keeping, but at least it gives me more info on what to avoid in the future.

You can swap the wires for a shorter wires. Several of us here do that. Bravo Bella wires are shorter and more flexible which may or may not be your preference. cupandahalf is successful using wires from inexpensive, different-sized bras. I loathe underarm poking and body protests passionately. Yikes.

Love4Pollinators I think the 30GG wire height is actually ok, it's the fabric that is the problem. The fabric at the side of the cup from the strap to the wire is the part that's annoying. I think I could alter the fabric height there (and I'm not going to even attempt that) it would be comfortable.

RoadRunner if I recall correctly the wire channels of Envy are significantly longer than the wires themselves, so it leaves this little flap of fabric under the arms that sticks out and rubs. What you can try is to move the wires within the channels so that the ends of the wires are closer to the ends of the channels on the outside. If that feels more comfortable you can sew a couple of tacking stitches across the channels at the gore to keep the wires from sliding back up.

helpfulThe junction of the seams is supposed to hit right around your nipple. The shape you get in any given bra is a combination of the shape the bra is good for and how it does or doesn't match your breast shape, plus shape the bra gives and your natural breast shape.
Try unlined Cleo bras like Hettie, Kali, and Lucy. They tend to give rounded shapes.

hurrrrrmione So I've tried Hettie- the gore is too high and was uncomfortable after just 5-10 minutes. I felt like someone was stabbing me in the chest! Also the lace part at the top of the cup on hettie seems a little loose, but the rest of the cup fits ok.

RoadRunner Some Cleo and Panache gores are stabby on some people, they use pretty firm wires. If you find a bra that fits perfectly except for that, you can try bending the tops of the wires away from your sternum a bit. The lace being a bit loose is not a big deal fit-wise but suggests you'd do better in a bra that's more closed-on-top like Kali and Lucy.

Yeah, i always do a double-take when bras that are crazy round on me are pointy on other ppl - its a FOT bra. I also dont know FOB bras. I actually wonder if its also too large in general, since this is not a particularly wide bra
