Bra fitting help » Projection/wire width/gaping at top of cups
Cleo » Lucy Balconnet Bra (5851) » 36HH 36:12
Wires too wide, band far too loose, slight gaping at top of the cup. The best fitting bra I have found so far is a Curvy Kate Ritzy in a 38G, but that is loose in the band and could go down to a 36GG. I've tried about a dozen different brands, shapes and sizes and I'm struggling with not enough immediate projection and lots of space at the top of the cups. Please help!

helpfulAre you able to provide a few more pictures? That will help us determine better fitting bras more easily. Thanks!

These photos are so helpful :-) When you have a few minutes, look at this (NSFW) and let me know what you find: http://thepetitecollegiate.com/2016/04/21/photo-glossary-bra-fitting-and-breast-shape/
1. Do these wires sit on any breast tissue near the gore?
2. Do these wires slide out of your IMF? If yes, how much time passes before that occurs?
3. When you make a hand bra (or two-hand bra), how much space is between your breasts? Are you center full, side heavy, or even horizontally? Full on bottom, full on top, or even vertically? From what I can gather, you may be my short-rooted friend :-) That characteristic helps explain why Ritzy is your best fit: half cups are shorter and often a better fit for short roots. But, Ritzy is quite shallow near the wire. Your answers will help narrow your options.

Love4Pollinators thanks for your reply. The link above doesn't seem to be working... I get error 404.
I don't have this bra anymore, I returned it as it was so wrong! I've been trying various things for a while now and have had numerous fit checks on another group, but not managed to find the elusive perfect bra! My breasts are quite wide set, definitely side heavy I would say, about half an inch between them in a hand bra. I think I have fairly even fullness but I definitely agree on the short roots... I cannot fill the top of a bra unless the cups are too small everywhere else!
The gore on this one wasn't sat on breast tissue but did dig in at the top and felt too high. I know the ritzy is too shallow at the wire as the wires dont sit in my IMF at all and i think the cups on it are still a little too tall for me, but i got to the point where i desperately needed out of the old 38Es I was wearing which were too big in the band and way too small in the cup -
I think a Comexim half cup may be a better fit. And, they will even reduce the height of the half cup :-) Additionally, you can order a bra with more immediate depth at the wires, a specific wire width, cup depth,..... Their options are amazing. However, you may want to specify "No overlapped gore" because many of their half cups arrive with overlapped gore which you don't require.
Jaimie at Bra Obsessed will be very helpful identifying the Comexim alterations you require, and she accepts returns. There is more time involved because the bra ships from Poland and Canada before it ships to you.
@Cupandahalf Are there Elomi bras you could recommend? Rita? Thanks for your help :-)
Your breast base height is identical to mine, and I have had a difficult time finding a bra that fits my shorties which are several sizes smaller than your own. Exasperating. Sigh.

helpfulHave you tried Panache Envy, Cleo Hettie, or Elomi Etta?

I haven't yet. The hettie was recommended but I can't find it in the right size anywhere! I'll have a look at the other 2 and see how they fit. Thank you ☺

Fairygothuk Did you see this? The cup height is discouraging, but it was designed for a "petite frame" which creates hope. :-)

Fairygothuk You're welcome, good luck!

I have experienced all sorts of bra size issues and imho this situation is reminescent of a too small band combined to oversized cups and unfit for whatever you have shallow wings.
The back picture tells the tighteness that forces the band to roll up. Yes, it happens with narrow models without uniform "load distribution" accross the fabric. Result, the sturdier lower elastic reinforced portions bites in.
Idem, such a non-uniform load renders swooping-scooping futile as there's nothing to keep the underwire from walking far too back under the armpit.
I would try a deeper sturdier more hooks hugger model maybe 2 cups lower size and work my way from there.
I've had the occasion to spend a couple of hours in my new Elila 2801 and from what I can tell, it behaved as no other underwired bra I had. Including this issue that brings back vivid memories of discomfort.

helpfulArgh! I posted earlier but apparently it didn't take.
Is this bra used? I ask because the band and wires are super wide for this size. That's unusual for Cleo wires to be stretched out.
Elomi is made for FOB shapes. I recommend their plunges, Etta, and Amelia fit short roots. Comexim halfcups have worked well for a gal on here shaped similarly to you. I do not recommend Ewas- they will be tall. Curvy Kate might also work (shorter cup). Maybe try a Plunge like Cabaret? Lots of depth at apex and wire, cuts in at top so good for short roots? In your size CK and Comexim will end up being narrower than Elomi because Elomi will widen over time.
