Issue resolved
band too tight, cup size ok, shape not optimal due to center fullness
Original problem
Following your suggestions for the last bra I showed you (Panache Dahlia), I got one with a smaller band and larger cup size + cup depth.
This one feels a lot better than the Dahlia, although the band is VERY tight. I am unsure if the cup size is right - there is some very mild gaping, but maybe I am just used to wearing too small cups? (Please note that one of my right breast is smaller than the left, I would need to adjust for that, but did not for trying the bra on).
Thank you again for all your help!
Edit: After wearing it for a while, I decided to send it back because the band is painfully tight (it digs into my ribs when I sit, and I cannot even put one finger under it). However, I will leave the question open because I am still unsure about the cup size and would like to get your input.

helpfulThe cups did not really look too big - a little gapping at the top of the cup there is not a huge deal - but if the band was too tight, it may have been flattening the cups to make the shape wrong.

helpfulThe cup fit actually looks pretty good. Strap gap such as you're showing in photo #6 isn't considered a fit issue. I can't see that well, are the wires sitting in your inframammary fold? If you add a non-elastic extender is the band more comfortable and do the wires sit in your imf?
The one thing I see is that your left breast is getting smushed down a little at the top towards the center, so you have a little more center fullness than the bra expects. I have center fullness too and that slight flattening is typical for me in Freya plunge balconies and Fantasie side support bras. If you like the bra and it's comfortable the flattening isn't a deal breaker, but you're not getting the best shape possible in this bra.

The wires sit fine, it is just really tight. I don't have an extender, so I cannot try how it would feel/look.
You are right about the non-optimal shape, but it looks ok under a shirt. Maybe I should give it another try in 30GG or 30H. -
BLee 30H.. 30GG would be going down 1 volume, it will be too small.

helpfulBecause the bra is black it's quite difficult to see what is happening on the sides. If the wires are super distorted that means you lost some cup volume due to the tight band, and would normally find a better fit in a cup one size smaller.
Can you link to your fit request or photos for the Dahlia? I'm curious as to why people told you to go down to a 28. A +0 inch band fitting formula is typical for very fluffy ladies, but as you experienced, for a person with only a moderate layer of ribcage padding, it will typically be very uncomfortable.
Entering your vertical and lying down breast perimeters may also help you find better cup volumes btw.

wendybien here'the link: http://www.bratabase.com/troubleshoot/dirnx/. She had a Panache Dahlia 30G that was too large in the band.

Thanks for your input. The band of the Dahlia (I still have it) is much more elastic because of the material, I think this is a factor. Generally, I can squeeze myself into a 28 band, but it is very uncomfortable, as there is (as you said) not that much "padding" and the wires sit directly on my ribs.
I believe you are correct that I lost cup volume due to the super tight band, the wires feel pulled backwards, and are strangely wrinkled on the sides.

ah I see thanks guys!
It looks like that Dahlia either was exceptionally stretchy, OR... it's possible the riding-up band on the Dahlia was basically only creating the illusion of being too big, because BLee overtightened the straps as people often do after a lifetime of wearing bras that aren't totally optimal in sizing. Insufficient strap length will typically make the band ride up at the back.
If you still have the Dahlia, lengthen the straps as much as you can to see if the band stays put. That one cup will still be too small but you'd see if that bra in a 30 would work or not. -
You are right, the band wasn't too tight, it's the straps (Dahlia)! However, when I loosen the straps, the cups look weird, probably that's why I did it. As others pointed out the shape of the Dahlia is just not right for me, so I don't see a way to fix it.

Yes Panache shapes don't really work for me either, it happens... In that case you can cut them both loose without any regrets and search for a more optimally sized/shaped cup on a 30 band (in most brands)!

Yes, now I also think the band flattened the cups, and they are actually too big. Apart from that, I find the fit pretty good for me, and I need to go up a band size.
