Issue resolved
I'm filling out the top outer corners better now and the wrinkling seems to have gone, perhaps because I put on weight during a recent holiday. wendybien's comments about the tail of spence were very helpful and I was able to identify my tail of spence curving round into my armpit. I also realised that although I have fairly tall roots, my upper tissue is a little shallow, so I need bras that aren't too closed on top but don't expect loads of upper fullness.
Original problem
As you can see from the photos, I have some wrinkling in the top outer corners of the cups. Does anyone know what might be causing this? The straps are floating above my boobs too. I think the fit is pretty good, but it would be good to know how to avoid these problems in future (if that's even possible!)

helpfulI'm wondering if these cups are slightly big or at least too tall for your shape? the wrinkling at the top of the cup where it meets the straps is not usually a worry for me on its own, but it might be a sign that you've over-tightened the straps to make up for too-big cups. Do freya run large?

helpfulI think the cup depth looks pretty good, so while you could try to size down, it could just be a design issue. Cup is taller than you strictly need on outer quadrant and the angle from apex to shoulder is more generous than your tissue. I have a gap or wrinkle there in almost every single bra as I have zero tissue in that zone. My tail of spence is super shallow and it goes straight up and then curves and then goes horizontally to my armpit crease so it is rarely under the upper cup corner/bra strap.

Thank you, this makes a lot of sense! To be honest I'm not sure where my tail of spence is - I need to do some more research! I have quite a lot of tissue around my armpit (you can see in the photo a bit) so perhaps it's hanging out in there... On the upper front panel the lace is sitting flush with my boob, it's just the outer corner that I have an issue with. It is quite a tall style so I might look for lower cuts in future. Off to look up tail of spence now.... thanks again :)

Haha yes armpit tissue is a fascinating thing actually... it's a source of shame and self-loathing for many ppl and for a while even in bra-fitting (which is meant to be body acceptance oriented) there were myths about how it was "always caused by ill fitting bras" i.e. pathological, which is NOT true.
The two biggest myths are that (a) it's just "fat" and (b) it goes along with "big boobs." Neither are true. You have people who are slim and lean all over with small to moderate size boobs but have a prominent amount of breast tissue going into the armpit area and you have people (model Ashley Graham springs to mind) who have large breasts and plenty of body fat but tail of Spence is flat/shallow and essentially invisible.
The other issue is whether or not it should be contained in the bra cup and that is also a very individual thing. Placement, volume and just personal preference will mean that people will want to handle that completely differently.

I'm usually 30F - FF in Panache so Freya run a little larger (at least in this plunge style). There wasn't a 30E in store for me to try on unfortunately, but I'd quite like this style in black so next time I'll experiment with 30E Thank you!
