Bra fitting help » My boobs are *square*!
Curvy Kate » Daydreamer Balcony Bra (CK5401) » 34JJ 34:14
Issue resolved
I think Curvy Kate is just a mismatch for my size and shape. Thanks for your help, everyone!
Original problem
The Daydreamer gives me firm, comfortable support and seems to fit well. It looks OK by itself, but it makes my breasts look square under clothes. It's like I have blocks in my shirt! It seems much worse in person than in does in the photos. Does anyone know what causes this?

helpfulAll the CKs I tried gave me the same shape (and I was not even in the same size range, I was 32FF/G or so). It was the shallowness and "flatness" (if that makes sense) of the inner half of the upper cup portion that was at odds with how ample my natural shape is there. Also the apex was a bit too low for me due to this. It looks like you have a similar mismatch perhaps?

Yes, sometimes the bra is built in such a way that the inner quadrant tissue is contained (at a given size, I remember having to size up a lot in some bras) but it is kind of flattened as the whole breast is pushed outwards laterally. Compare the front view to a photo of yourself in a bra with a more roomy upper inner portion and you'll see the breasts are able to sit more centered, usually.

helpfulI get a square shape in Cleo Marcie when it is too small, and Daydreamer was just like Marcie for me as far as shape and general fit. Maybe you need a size up (if you can find it).

eBay saved search is my only hope there, I think. But worth a try! The Daydreamer did go up to a K cup.

helpfulWow, infuriating! In photo #2, maybe there's some interaction between the two fabrics on the diagonal seam creating an artificial high spot? Actually, there's a bit of that -- a curve too subtle to call it a double bubble -- visible in photo #4 as well. I'll bet when the tension of the shirt knocks the apex back a little, it makes that more prominent and the odd corner effect happens.
I tried on a Panache the other day that technically fit but gave me triangle boobs, so my sympathies are fresh here.

helpfulCurvy Kate Ritzy gives me square boobs. Elodie's comment makes sense. It must be somehow due to the placement of the seams.

I do have some center fullness. The bra seemed to handle it quite well in that it's supported and contained, but I never thought about center fullness getting squashed. You may have something there. Thanks!
