Issue resolved
Try smaller cup size with empreinte.
Original problem
I am new to this site and am looking for input on what works and doesn't with this bra. I am posting the other three bras I've bought as well. My previous bras were all 38Ds so am adjusting to tighter bands and different cup fit. This bra is comfortable, but not sure if I've got the best size. Should the sides of the cup overflow the way this bra does?
I am posting the other bras I've bought as well. I've had different information from different fitters and am looking for some trouble shooting with my bras. Looking for input on overall fit and style as well as which bras best suit me.

helpfulEmpreinte runs absolutely HUGE in the cup. This looks a little loose to me, it is actually hard to see visually in an Empreinte bra because they use such nice material but this is usually what their bras look like on me when they're a bit too big in the cup. Did you have a chance to try the 36E?

No, not at all. As a 32G (UK), I was able to wear a 30G (FR) in Empreinte's seamless Melody, (was fit into it professionally!) although a more experienced Empreinte user told me that this was a mistake and as a then-true 32 I should've worn their 32. (The 30 stretched out super fast, a 32 would've apparently fit very similarly but lasted much longer.)
(French cups seem to go D-E-F-G, for reference.)

dbmamaz no it runs crazy deep and projected. I think the "flat" appearance here is an optical illusion, the cup is too tall for her because it's a little larger than she needs. None of the Empreinte bras are designed to be truly full coverage so if that's how it's fitting it's typically too big.

yeah, that was my 2nd thought, it was just too tall

I was actually fitted as a 36E. I didn't realize that this was an F until I got home. It was 50% off and that was enticing even though I new the lace at the top was a little loose. I tried a few different styles including the Cassiopeia (sp?) which was my favourite, but full price. I will buy it one day, but want to make sure I have better sense of fit and what to look for, although I do think the 36E was a good fit in this style.
The fitter also tried me in a 34 to start, but I really didn't like the band. Overall it was hard to tell if the band would have worked because the cup was too small as well but I'm positive the 36 was the better fit.

One tip we sometimes give people is to check the band fit seperate from the cup fit. Put the bra on upside down and backwards, so the cups are hanging down towards your rear. Get the band in the place where you bra band fits. How does it feel?
Sometimes the fit of the cup and the fit of the band interact with each other. So its best to FIRST find a band length that works, and THEN find what cup at that band fits best.
of course its made more complicated by the fact that different brands are different amounts of stretchy. thats why we usually look at the 'stretched band' measurement. I need about 32-33 inches stretched, 34 might still work. I have bought a used 30 band here, and a used 80 band here, because the stretched measurements showed that they were in that 32-34 inch range . . . the first one ran big and the second ran small.
and then of course, all cups are different. Some are more wide and some more deep, some have more room at the bottom and some haev more room at the top. So figuring out your cups size is still not quite done.
and remember, fitters are trying to get a sale. they will see what they have in the store right now that fits you. but many of us end up getting bras on line. I have bought and returned many many bras to amazon - many of them have free shipping.
I'm a more unusual size, so I can just search by my size and not get too overwhelmed. but i would find bras that were on sale on amazon (last season's colors) and then come here and read all the reviews of that bra and look at pictures as close to my size as I could find, and try to get a feel for if this bra would work for me or not.
Its a long process! but if you find your unicorn bra it will all seem worth it. When . . WHEN you find your unicorn bra lol

dbmamaz I haven't found my unicorn yet. What's yours?

Well, it WAS floris, in 32J, but in 32JJ it pokes me in the underarm.
My main three bras now are Panache Jasmine, which is the most projected, so technically fits the best, but the wires are so firm its a bit more painful end-of-day, and the fabric is scratchy and the patterns are all eh
I have some Ewa Michalak S, which are technically too shallow. My boobs push them down so they hurt, and I sometimes fall out (I wonder if I need to go to a 32KK? ugg, keep holding out for weight loss) Anywyas, the cotton lining is awesome on hot days (absorbs sweat so i dont get irritated under the wire), and also on days I'm sort of achy.
I also haev some Ewa Michalak SM - one of which fits better than the other. Its a bit too shallow so also pushes down. Its a little stretchy, esp compared to the SM, so its a little easier fit.
If i could get Jasmine's shape with Ewa fabrics . . . that woudl be unicorn.
it looks a bit flattening to me - do they run shallow? I've never worn them
