Bra fitting help » Want opinions on if this fits, unsure of my real bra size
Freya » Patsy Padded Half Cup Bra (1223) » 28DD 28:5
I don't have too many issues with this bra, to be honest, I just want to know if it looks like it fits properly. It is very comfortable, but it is also the first bra of this size I have worn. I was previously wearing 34B's because that was how I was measured at Victoria's Secret and this is the first bra not of that size that I have worn. Upon entering my measurements into this site, it told me I should be wearing more like 28F-30E. If anyone has any advice, I'd greatly appreciate it!

helpfulI see the band riding up in back. If you fasten it on a tighter hook and loosen the straps a little is it still comfortable?
This may be causing the feeling of the wires poking under your arms. When the band rides up the wires tilt forward and tend to poke in at the sides.
I think you could use a larger cup though. The wires don't look as though they're enclosing all of your tissue.

dbmamaz I think that's most likely my issue exactly! I was so used to having to tighten my 34B bras all the way that I still tighten this one up to the shoulders. I'm going to look into others as well, this is the only one I have of this size and it fits well enough for now I think haha. I find the bra size issue so interesting in that so many women have no idea that they are wearing the wrong size. I didn't know until my friend who wears a 28K told me that there was no way I was a 34B! I thank both of you for the advice 😊

helpfulThe cup size does look too small to me. It looks like the wires are on breast tissue to me too. If you can measure your laying breast perimeter, I have read it is ideal to match it with the cup depth of the bra. I am sure there are variations within that advice, but it may be a good place to start. I love that the measurements of many bras are on here so hopefully that helps. Is the gore (wires in the center of the bra between your breasts) lying flat against your chest? If it is lifting away from your body, that is usually a sign the cups are too small. I have been in a similar place as you and started my journey just over a year ago. My cup size grew at least one cup size since that time. My breasts went from being more on my sides to being more on my chest! Apparently I was smushing my breasts down all my life in 34A/B bras. So you may not want to buy too many bras too fast if you think your shape and size may change. I am wondering if Curvy Kate may be a good brand for you? I am no expert by any means as I am still trying to figure it out. It may be good to get a more experienced user's advice. Oh, you may appreciate The Petite Collegiate's blog too as I found out a lot about my shape through her site. All the best!

Thanks! The gore does lie flat against my chest, yes. I haven't bought any new ones for that exact reason, I don't want to spend 60 dollars only for a bra to not fit me when I get it because I've changed! I was looking into Curvy Kate, yeah. I'm hoping I can find some stores in my area that have this size and bigger cup sizes so that I can at least try them on before buying anything. Thanks for the advice!! :)

helpfulHmm. Well, according to the measurements (comparing horizontal perimeter to cup depth is usually a decent estimate), this cup should probably be too small, and it does look like it could be a bit wider. It could be that the poking under your arms that you're feeling is the cup not containing all your breast tissue on the sides and cutting in. Based on your horizontal perimeter measurement I'd try 28E and maybe 28F as well just to see if you like them better. As long as you're comfortable in it, though, I wouldn't worry about it. Comfort is more important than technically proper fit.

helpfulThe straps look very far apart on your frame. It looks like the cups are folding in your armpit! Overall it looks too deep. I think you need longer underwires!

Sometimes the band rides up because when we are used to wearing bras that dont fit, we over-tighten the straps to get some support. I had to consciously start loosening my straps - just enough tension so they dont fall off, pretty much.
Also, when I started on my bra fitting journey, my first bra seemed like such an awesome fit! but i posted it here and realized it wasnt so great. But it was good enough that I kept wearing it while looking for other, even better fitting bras!
