Issue resolved
Can't achieve perfect fit. Going to try 30C, 28D & another 28DD. Going to buy rixie clip/shorten band.
Original problem
I'm looking for a technically perfect fit for this bra, or if it is even possible given my shape and the shape of the bra.
The band is too big.
Tried the 28DD, and woah. Seems like an entirely different bra. When I stretched the band of the 28DD about an inch the cups/wires started warping immediately. You can see the pictures here:
http://bra.pe/XXwQ/ .
Which essentially explains all my issues with that bra.
If I tried a 30C or 28D / E would I get a better fit (with no wrinkles, collapsing or other wise warping of the cup)?
It's pretty evident that my bigger boob fills in the cup. Are my breasts too tall for this bra? I don't quite understand what is causing the vertical wrinkles. I clearly fill out the projection of the bra, but I think it was designed for a breast that has more outer and bottom tissue.
The picture where I have pulled the mesh up to where I believe it is supposed to sit is on my smaller left breast.
HELP!In general I consider this a win for me. Super comfy. Looks super great. Does super things for my boobs. The tightest hook keeps it fairly stable although I do have to pull the top of my breast back into the cup from time to time.

helpfulThe loose band means that the straps are bearing more than their share of the weight and this is causing the vertical wrinkles in the mesh. (Claudette mesh is notorious for wrinkling, it's just a mushy mesh that doesn't sit very smooth.) I would keep this one and alter this band or Rixie clip it tighte. The cups appear to be a perfect fit. 28DD probably has a hair narrower wires and that didn't work well for you.

lcl0706 for real!

Well that certainly explains why almost everyone I look at looks slightly different....I caved and purchased a 30C for science I tells ya! It was like 15$ on Amazon.....Will probably end up buying another 28DD& 28D if I can..you know...for science. The one 28DD I have is more like a 24H because the cups/underwires start warping after stretching the band past 23". lcl0706 wendybien

stretching it PAST 23"? how long is it unstretched??

Sorry it took me a week to see this wendybien but the 28DD only measures about 20" unstretched. I know, it's freaking crazy. When I started taking it's measurements it became very clear why the 28DD fit so oddly. It could stretch to about 26" but the wires start warping after the 23" point. AKA, it only stretched 3" before the wires began to warp. So the cup were all sorts of warped sitting on my body as the band stretched to a minimum of 26". They're finally asking me to re-check the measurements for the 28DD, lol. I've checked it 6 times on my own!
Not to mention every freaking season Claudette changed the fit of this bra so unless you know you're buying 2 bras from the same season, Lord only knows what you'll end up with!
