Bra fitting help » Gapping
Cleo » Maddie Moulded T-shirt Bra (7201) » 30DD 30:5
I have some gapping on top. Especially for lil' righty The rest of the bra fits beautifully bit the band is looser on me than other 30. Idk if I need a smaller cup or maybe just size down in band. Can't return the bra as I washed it already also is a discontinued model. Just want opinions for future reference

helpfulThe gap may be eliminated in the 28E, and perhaps the straps will sit a bit closer to the gore, too.
Alternatively, you could move the strap attachment location 1/2" closer to the gore and the gaping may disappear. It is amazing how strap attachment effects the cups. : -)
So glad you found a comfortable bra!

Scaling sometimes changes the strap placement in sister sizes....sometimes. Just lots of trial and error. ;-)

bracrastination they're called sister sizes because they can hold the same amount of cup volume/have the same cup depth. This does not mean that the cups, under wires, straps, bands, wing heights or even Gore's will be the same. I definitely agree that if the band is stretching more than it should, it would make the straps wider. But, Sister sizing is supposed to only be used to adjust band size. Although Love4Pollinators has a good point. Technically/generally speaking a smaller band means a smaller build which would mean more narrow set straps. Unfortunately brands don't always grade their sizes really well so the straps could very well be placed wider or set the same. I think with Cleo the straps get a bit more narrow the smaller the band size.
I think this bra fits you very well! When i read the word "gaping" I said "what, where?" Those gaps a really insignificant and the bra looks great on you! All stiffly padded or moulded cup bras have a tendency to do this. Moving the straps in could definitely "fix" these gapes though. Give the 28E a try! See if you like it better. The only thing I worry about with the 28E is that the cups will probably be taller than these as cups sizes A-D/DD tend to be graded differently than cups sizes DD/E +. Manufacturers seem to think that if you have a larger cup size then you need taller cups.

helpfulThe Maddie has a very stiff cup rim and is open on top, so it is prone to gaping on top, unless it is worn by someone with full on top boobs. I've seen this issue on many people.
Unless it is visible under a shirt, it's not an issue and definitely no reason to size down in band or cup.
I would recommend to try the Cleo Lexi next time. It's the new version of Maddie, and the gap-y cup issue has been fixed, as it is more closed on top.
Also, the colored versions of Maddie (such as the leo print, flower print, also Maddie Pop and Maddie Spot, as well as Cleo Karen) do not have this issue as well. They are a couple years old though, so only available on ebay or similar.Updated on July 26, 2017 Flag this
Could you explain the "straps will sit a bit closer to the gore" thing please?
I thought cups were the same in sister sizes such as 30DD/28E, and so would the strap placement.
(With the tight band pulling the cups even wider, and bringing the straps closer to the armpits as soon as the bra is being worn, in my experience.)
