Bra fitting help » Are the bra cups too large and the band too small.
Scantilly » Knock Out Plunge Bra (3311) » 32FF 32:8
I think that is bra is just too large in the cup and too small in the band. Or the bra is too wide and shallow for me.
1). The cups are too big, there is wrinkling on the sides and the bottom.
2). The bra band is tight, but I am finding that when I wear the bra without an extender I need to wear it on the second set of hooks.
3). I think that the gore is sticking out because the bra is just a crummy shape mismatch.
Also, if you click each picture I state whether or not I am wearing an extender in the picture. I forgot to add that.

helpfulIt looks too small in the cups to me, which is why the gore isn't tacking. I would try 34FF next, but also this bra might just not be a good shape match for you so I would also try some different styles. Freya unlined bras might suit you well.

You're welcome

I dont understand the too-small cup when the top and outside of the cups are empty? Sometimes a too-tight band can pull the cups wider and flatter than they should be but it looks like a serious shape problem
-
Yes, sometimes a too tight band can distort the cups. I missed where dawnss mentioned the band felt too tight, and I missed the horizontal wrinkles on the band that indicate the band is too tight. But afaik that can't cause the gore to not tack, so the cups are definitely too small as I said.

helpfulThis bra looks like a better fit for less center-full breasts. Sigh. It is so beautiful on you!
From my seat in the park, it looks like if we could move the wires closer together, the wrinkling would disappear. Often, this is how bras fit me. If you have time and desire, you could add a few stitches at the gore to hold the wires closer together. It may improve the fit enough that you'd feel comfortable wearing it. The gore alteration will shorten the band a bit, but with your breasts inside the cups instead of fighting for space at the center where the cup isn't, the band may fit better, too.
Best wishes!

Thanks I really like the color and style of this bra. Curvy Kate really knocked it out of the park with this one no pun intended. I've been thinking of picking up sewing, but now I think that I'm going to need to give it a shot possibly.
I want to at least try out the alternation and see if it might make the bra more wearable for me.

Have fun :-) I hope you find an alteration that works perfectly for you!

I will and fun and I hope I find an alternation as well.I'm going to need to watch some Youtube videos on sewing alternations. My sewing books are in my storage unit.

helpfulI have the same issue with Scantilly Exposed Plunge bra. It's so wide in the cups and it makes me look saggy. I tried on a similar plunge shape from Scantilly in a cup size smaller and it fits so much better. The band fit ok for me, but if it bothers you to where it's too tight for comfort, I see no problem using an extender. Scantilly's bras are always inconsistent with sizes (just like Curvy Kate). The plunge bras seem way bigger in the cups.
If you're normally a 32FF, try a 32F.
If the band is too tight for comfort, try a 34E.Updated on October 2, 2023 Flag this
Thank you. I'm going to check into Freya's unlined styles in a 34ff and 32g if the 34 bands are too large.
