Issue resolved
I'm going to try this bra in a larger cup and perhaps with an extender
Original problem
Hi guys, I would appreciate any thoughts you have. I'm currently just starting to try to nail down what my current sizes are. While this 34E isn't too bad, it has enough issues with it-- especially on the second wear oddly-- that I'm thinking something is wrong – either the shape is not a great fit for me, or the actual size is wrong. I'm having trouble with the band getting pushed down below my IMF. I also feel like the very flexible wires are getting stretched east west and messing up the shape of the cup. If you look at the side picture, you can see that the wing seam is not straight up-and-down but skewed. I'm getting torpedo boob as a result. The top edge is strange – the flower embroidery edge was cutting in and giving me quad boob, but I was getting a bit of wrinkling between the top seam and the apex seam. The very top of the Gore's also digging into my sternum a bit, even though this is a plunge. The band feels just about right – if a little flimsy. What are you guys think? Do I need to go up a cup size? I know if I went down it would be way too tiny. Or is this just a fit mismatch? I have splayed breasts with a lot of immediate depth needed at the wire on the bottom and outer edges of the cup.

helpfulI think the bra cup is too small. The top of the cup looks like it is cutting in and sliding down, causing wrinkling above the apex. Have you tried a 34F? A larger cup might solve the cup depth at bottom, wing height, gore height, and will definitely have wider wires.
Princess cuts are really open at top which often lead folks to think the bra fits when it is too shallow in the cup. I would try the size up, wear it for 30 mins with the tags still on a few days, then decide whether it's the cut or the size.

helpfulA back picture would be nice. I think often plunges also have low wings, which is part of what you are seeing with the sideways wire, maybe? The numbers look like the band should work. I dont think Curvy kate princess fits many ppl tho - it definitely looks too shallow at the bottom

That's not the case now. Also the Princess plunge is a different cut from the Princess Balconette.
I just bought a Princess in the correct size and it is great for the short rooted and high set among us!

I am short rooted and high set too, and picked the princess because just eyeballing it I thought it might be a good match. I think my boobs are pulling the wire open east-west and forcing the bottom of the cup to become more shallow to accommodate the pull.... I do agree the wings are lower than I'd like- we shall see what happens with a larger cup!

helpfulI don't see a super compelling case for you to be in a 34 band in most bras when I look at measurements and pics--you don't have a the torso padding nor the heavy bust that are typical of people needing a +0 band size--much less in this specific bra... I agree with you there are several signs of excessive tension on the band and excessive outward pull on the cups. What happens if you throw on an extender? How do the cups fit then?
Cups cutting in on outer side may mean you need wider wires OR it can mean the bra is too darn tight, so this is an important point that needs to be elucidated. If this wire is too narrow then you know you can't wear this style in this size at all--wire on breast tissue is bad news.

Ok, just want to make sure I am understanding you- so you think 36 might be better? I can totally see where you're coming from that something is up with the band and tension – I'm reticent to go to a looser band in general, as with many 36s they promptly need to be put at the tightest hook, and begin riding up my back. 34 is typically where I can fit two fingers and depend on the bands not getting pulled up my back and dragged down by my breasts in the front. However 36 might be better in this bra - except it so darn stretchy a bra that maybe I'm just looking for something sturdier? I was unable to get a back shot, but the band since parallel across my back, and does not cut in.

In this one I'm almost positive a 36 might be better. In others, I can't say, since I could be wrong -- there are always assumptions involved in interpreting photos (to me looks like you don't have a lot of squish but perhaps there is more than meets the eye) and numbers (I assumed your loose measurement was post inhalation but if it actually does not again that would mean I underestimated the squish factor).
In which bras were 36 bands riding up? Were they new?

Riding up usually occurs in most brands I have tried if I do not put the 36 on the tightest hook right at the first wear-- Here are a few examples of brands in which I have had 36 bands relatively recently: Panache- even with an overly small cup, I immediately needed to put this on the tightest hook to get it to that "two-finger width" snugness- at the loosest hook, I could pull it far away from my body with ease. Victoria's secret- 36 is a joke due to stretchiness of band and generosity of band length in all but their longline/bustier bras-- then 34 is snug just on the brink of over snug. Freya - again, 36 is far too loose and cups get jiggly, gore won't lay flat-- so to compensate for the lack of band support in my Deco, I was tightening the straps until they ug in so the cups didn't gape away at the top. Wacoal b. tempted- needed to be on tightest hooks immediately to feel appropriately supportive without cutting. Maidenform's 36 band is absurdly stretchy and a bra I bought from them in a 36 D (wrong cup, I didn't know!) a couple months ago is already almot unwearable because of the band looseness. I will say that the Charlotte Parfait by Affinitas bra I had in a 34DD a year ago was crazy uncomfortable due to the tightness of the band! So generally, I am finding 34 to be an all-around better choice- I didn't get a pic of the back yet, but I can say that with the exception of the Charlotte, 34 bands never cut into back tissue, and I don't have issues typicially with fat bulges in the back unless I wear worn 36 bands, which ride up and create extra rolls below!

One last thing-- I have some squish for sure, but you're right that I haven't great deal of squish!
-
Yeah fingers/hand under band is not the best test, riding up vs staying put is much better. You will definitely need 34 in the brands where 36 rides up.

Thanks, that was going to be my next move, but it helps so much to have someone confirm- I think this is not going to be my "perfect" bra, but my hunch is That will improve it markedly. You da best!
