Bra fitting help » gaping at cup top
Comexim » Eris Half Cup » 65N 30:14
I have this bra in a smaller cup size and it cuts into breast tissue, now I have enough immediate projection but get a little gaping at the top of the cup that isn't visible under clothing. In theory, this should have been made with straps moved in 2cm and an overlapping gore and at least the gore alteration is done. It also, as you can see, has nursing clips added. What alteration do I need/what would fix this issue? It happens to a lesser extent in the plunge I ordered too. I do need a smaller band size and shortened straps on my next order too... Will ordering a 60N fix any of this? Will Ewa bras be any firmer for lift/what should I try in EM?

helpfulAre your boobs soft? The cup looks too tall for you, so you can either tell them to reduce the cup height by 2cm or try the next cup size down. It really depends on how your breasts squish, if they can squish up into the upper portion of the cup. My 60Ns are around 8-8.5" high, so they will be the same height as the one you have there. Most of the 60s that I measured stretch to 28" so they will be too tight on you if your comfortable is 30".
I find EM bras around the same height as Comexim, so if it is a height problem you might want to try the EM models with stretch lace on the top, such as the BM or SF.

Sovavosi thanks! Yes, my boobs are super soft. I debated lowering the cup height but didn't- wish I had now! I got the 3HCs in 65N and the plunge in 65M. The information on your 60N's is helpful. I know Eris runs stretchy, but even Aida wasn't as tight as I like. I haven't logged my honey cookie yet which I ordered in 65N too, ran out of time at the last nap :)

Agreements with Sovavosi here. The most you could do to fix that is shorten the height of the cups or buy bras with shorter cups all together. I REALLY don't think you will be comfortable in a 28/60 band from Comexim, since it's a full inch tighter than your BTT rib measurement. My unworn comexim 28's measure between 26-27' stretched but I have heard that they measure more true to size now. Might I suggest trying Cleo in 30GG? Cleo cups tend to be shorter and have narrower wires than most UK companies. They also have tighter bands than most.

I misread the name of the bra, the half cups "should" be an inch shorter than the plunges. I say "should" because all bets are off with Comexim. Actually, it might not matter if the half cup is the correct height if the cup is open. I can't wear open cups because my boobs are too short. You might have to ask them if the cup is open or closed next time you order a half cup.

Sovavosi thank you, I will. OK, so next order will move straps in more, reduce cups/or check if it is a closed cup, overlap gore (and shorten, is that a thing?)
Ah postpartum, apparently my BTT rib measurement is now 28", comparing to my old Comexim's I think they are more true to band size now, or I just ordered really stretchy fabrics.
Any recommendations for resources on altering your own bras? :)
Thank you so much, everyone. I would be a miserable soul without Bratabase and abrathatfits.

They will reduce the gore, but I don’t know how much. One user has tried this and they told her they wouldn’t reduce it past a certain amount.
I have only tried to move a strap myself, I just winged it. I think Love4Pollinators has reduced the cup height but I don’t have the link handy. Good luck if you try this 😀

I have had the same issues with padded Comexim, with the gaping at the top like that. I just gave up on them and found that the BM and SF styles of Ewa Michalak bras work a lot better for my squishy boobs.
I've been messing around with my own alterations; it started as a strap narrowing, and sorta turned into a oh crap I screwed this up in the cup now I gotta fix it alteration, hahah. I wouldn't recommend trying to mess with the cups at all, or you'll end up getting some weird lumps and/or squishiness. I'm not a professional seamstress at all, so take that into consideration. :P
I just noticed... is this a 65N or 65M? Your others you listed as 65M.
