Bra fitting help » Cups too wide?
Elomi » Matilda Plunge Bra (8900) » 32JJ 32:14
Issue resolved
No real solution. Just going to try and find a brand with more narrow wires.
Original problem
This is the closest I can get to a bra that fits me. However, the wires go really far back under my armpit. If I go down a cup I am spilling out the front. If I go up a band size it is too loose and sits away from my body.

helpfulUgg, thats why I've been afraid to try any Elomis, even tho they DO make 32JJ now. That does NOT look like it would fit me.
Check out my bras - I have a bunch of bras in that size range and you can see how they fit. I think this is too wide but also a bad shape for you

So, the cups ARE too wide, so you, I think, have to go up a size because so much of the cup is over where you dont have boobs. I think a bra that fit you better would support your breasts better. The Ewa Michalak bras are from Poland . . . but they have narrower wires and more projection.
I was looking at my pics, and yeah, the panache wires are kinda wide - but not as wide as some of the other bras I'd tried on before. But Ewa's wires are much narrower, you can see my breast like bulging out at the side because the wire comes in to my room - i have very narrow roots, tho. My breasts are 'omega' shaped - the letter Omega is sort of like a ball with a thick base? My breasts come out much wider than my breast roots. So most bras are either too wide in the wires or too narrow in the cups? But Ewas work the best for me.
So, look at your side pic, where you breast is in the side of the cup, and how much empty space, and compare it to this bra (which i sold because I outgrew it - but its easier to see in lighter bras) 75J - Ewa Michalak » Sf Gładzioch Beż (849)
The side of your boob is nowhere near the end of the bra, whereas mine is firmly held by the outside of the cup (well, moreso on my larger side!)
thats what I meant

Yeah that is exactly what I was seeing on me as well. I'm just not sure how to get a bra that fits around my ribcage and also fits me properly in the cup. If I go up a band size the bra floats away from my rib cage. In fact this is brand new and I have to wear it on the tightest setting to get it to be snug against me, I could probably go down to a 30 if I could find a bra that the wires wouldn't wrap around me like that. I will look into Ewa's. Thanks for the tip.

yeah, try a 30JJ or 30K.

helpfulI know your pain....some bras have wires which almost end behind my armpits
You should try Freya and Fantasie, they have much narrower wires than Panache, Elomi etc. and have excellent projection to give you lift. On my pictures you can see how weird Panache looks on me in comparison to Freya!

helpfuloh wow. Yes, this is MILES too wide for you! What is happening here is that due to a cup shape mismatch, you have a lot of "wasted volume" in the cup; in other words, there is empty unused space in the side of the cup that is not being filled (since you don't have any breast tissue that goes that far around onto your sides). Meanwhile, this cup is probably cut fairly shallow at the center, in the cleavage area, which is why the smaller sizes are not able to contain your center fullness. So if you can find a bra with cups that have a shape more compatible with your actual anatomy, I think you will need less volume because you won't have 2-3 inches of cup depth that's sitting unused on your sides. Cay you take your lying-down single breast perimeter, or at least measure it when you're in a bra? This will give a better sense of how much volume you need in a cup.
I would NOT size down in the band --the sense of looseness that you're getting in this 32, comes from the fact that the cups are empty on the sides. This makes a bra band feel loose, but it doesn't mean that a 32 in a bra where you fill the cups would be equally loose. If your measurements are accurate, a 30 in most brands would be overtight.
Many bra-wearers benefit from wearing a band smaller than their tight measurement, but only because they have a much fluffier torso than you i.e. several inches of "padding" covering the ribcage. You look to have only moderate padding to protect your ribs, so a true 30 band without excess looseness from a too-big cup would be quite bruising!

Thank you for all the wonderful info. I really appreciate it. I am going to try a few different brands others have suggested. Would you have a particular recommendation for a brand with a better wire shape for me?

It's hard to know where to start without your lying down (or in-a-bra) perimeter cos that would tell me which brands have you in their size range. This one is SO wide that just about anything on the market is narrower! Perhaps we can deduce some information about your general shape and suggest a size in a better-shaped cup if you tell us what other models you tried and in what size, and what made them not fit exactly.

Thank you, I always love to see a fellow 32jj. Looks like you wear a lot of Panache which fit me even worse than the Elomi ( the wires in those fit my shape really oddly) I might try some of the other brands you have listed if I can find them. I am curious what you would improve on the shape? I actually like the shape it gives me under clothes, but would love any advice you could give.
