Issue resolved
Turns out it was just an old, scrappy bra in pre-BtB size.
Original problem
This is my pre-BtB/BoB size bras, this one particularly from teen section. Band too big, outside of cups sit on tissue, Gore seems to be sitting on tissue/larger breast, straps must be shortened all the way to pull cups onto chest or they would be pushed away causing gaping. I am trying to figure out why this style and shape of bra does not quite work for me. My breasts seem to have massively distorted the cups and I'm trying to figure out why it happened.

helpfulWhat cup distortion are you talking about? I don't see any damage to the cups nor are the wires being pulled out of shape? Are you talking about the cup edge curling outwards? It's not your boobs doing that... that can be due to tension from overtightened straps, poor quality finishes, materials aging badly, storage... lots of things, but your boobs are innocent here lol.
Also, I don't know as we can say much about shape--you can only diagnose so much from a bra that's sooo far from matching your proportions. Cups are 2" too small, they're also too narrow, that's for sure. Even very petite adults often have at least 5" wide breast roots regardless of how much tissue there is and how far it projects out. Shape-wise, if you pull the band wayyy out behind you you'll prob see the gaping disappear and will quad instead. Beyond that, you need another bra as starting point for trouble shooting as this one is so far off base. How about the Cleo Maddie? That is often popular in this size range.

Ohhh yeah I see it.
OK that's just the poor flimsy Wal-Mart cup being tired and worn out from fighting the weight/leverage of your boob that is too projected for this cup to handle. Don't worry about it. Shouldn't happen in something that is closer to being an OK fit.

helpfulThat bra is very shallow. Your breasts are too projected for it. Plus the usual too large band too small cup problems.

Thank you finallygotboobs
I never really thought that I have very much projection, or much of anything for that matter ;-)
I feel it's always better to ask others as they can you see far better than you can you.

helpfulalso, did you wash it in the washing machine? i mean, cheap bras dont really fit very many ppl well, but washing machine and dryer can destroy them

dbmamaz I have washed it in the washer machine in a pillowcase like I do most of my delicates, albeit not very often. Probably about 7 times since I have owned it. I have my patented vodka/water spray that I use to sanitize corsets, bras and other dedicated I don't feel comfortable putting in the pillow case and into the wash. Although MamaPagan posted this wonderful delicates bag for the washer machine that is structured, so it will not collapse and destroy the shape of anything you put inside. I will probably be ordering this in the future. Do you have any tips on hand washing molded cup bras without destroying the smoothness?

no, i dont wear molded bras. they dont come in my size

LeProfessor I’ve hand washed moulded cup and padded seamed cup bras. I have an extra large dishpan dedicated for hand washing. I use Eucalan or Variance fabric wash and fill the pan halfway with tepid water, then gently immerse the bra and let soak. I do the same with plain water to rinse. Then I lay out a bath towel and lay the wet bra on it outside up. I crunch up 2 small hand towels into balls and put one in each cup. Then fold the bath towel over and pat gently so it absorbs some of the moisture. Hang the bra to dry.

I use my top-load washing machine as a giant bucket and fill it while empty before adding my bras and the soap. If I'm feeling very lazy, I'll set it to the "delicate" setting, close the lid, and let it swish for a minute or two before stopping it; otherwise I swirl the water by hand or by manually turning the agitator or basket. I like finallygotboobs ' suggestion of towels, because gently squeezing them out and then hanging them over the open washer to drip into it while I fish the next one out like I do can be a pain, especially if I leave them all to be done together all at once. But then I fill up the still-full washer with clothes and use the water up that way. (I usually do an extremely cursory job of "wringing" my bras out when they are soapy, and instead put them all in a basket or bucket on top of the rest of the dirty clothes until I can re-fill the washer to rinse, because it gets hard on the hands.)

Very interesting calenlass This would be hard for me as I live in an apartment complex and share a washer room with 5 other apartments (which is very small considering).

I machine-wash my bras and I've never had this problem, to be honest. I put the bras in a pillow case, use gentle detergent, and run it on the delicates cycle -- then I pull 'em out when it's time to put the rest of the load in the dryer and hang them to dry.
I know it's not as good for them as hand-washing them, but the only time I ever tried that I was not able to get them fully dry. (I squeezed them out to the best of my ability, but where I live is just very humid. :( ) So I sort of figured the risk of them getting, like, mildewy was worse than the risk of the washing machine damaging them.

That's what I do too rainbrasspetals lol. Although where I live, the washer does not have a delicate cycle, just 3 temp settings called Cold, Regular (cold/hot rinse/wash or vice versa), and Heavy (hot water). Oddest thing I've ever seen. Can't wait to get my own washer!

its probably just a badly made bra

Thank you for your in depth response wendybien!
Picture 9 shows the distorted cup, it didn't come shaped that way! None of my others old bras have distorted in this manner. Perhaps it is just old and cheaply made. I have 2 new 28D's on the way and in the process of ordering more from the lovely members here on BtB.
