Bra fitting help » Do I need to size down one or two cup size ?
Maison Lejaby Elixir » Mosaïque 3-section Underwired (G81333) » 85F 32:7
Issue resolved
I will try a 32DD as soon as possible. I think this bra is 2 cups too big.
Original problem
I ordered this bra last week. I took my usual size : a 85F (I wear this size in Chantelle, Passionata, Rouge-Gorge-Lingerie, Lise Charmel...)
But when I try the bra it was huuuge. You can see in the pictures that I can't fill the cups. It's gaping, particularly on the top of the cups.I don't know if I need to size down one or two cup size.
Lejaby as a weird size range (for a French brand). A, B, C, D, DD, E, F. What does that "DD cup" means ? They are the only French brand I know using DD cups... Does that mean a "usual" French E cup ? And so that would mean I ordered a G cup by mistake ?
Do you think I need a 85E or a 85DD ?

helpfulWell, different brands can be very different size ranges, not to mention UK vs US vs Euro sizes are different.
The only bra you have listed here where you show a depth measurement is the 85E Aubade half-cup, which you measure as a full inch DEEPER than this one. So I'm wondering if your measurements of the bra depths are consistent? Plus, the perimeter should be close to at least one of your three breast perimeters - but you only have 1 of the breast perimeters, and its much larger than your cup measurements, which would mean these should probably all be too small. So something is not adding up!
If you look carefully, you'll see that this bra is labeled by our system as 32:7, meaning the 7th cup size on a 32 band. Your other bra is labeled as 32:5, or the 5th cup size - so that means this should be 2 sizes larger, even its one letter higher - they must use different size ranges.
Finally, why is this an unknown model? Did you buy it 2nd hand?

helpfulLapinette1992 it's likely this is a Lejaby Elixir, they run huge. Unlike Lejaby's main collection which runs sort of average, some designs run a little bit large, but nothing crazy (basically similar to most French brands you could find at Printemps, etc.) Can you upload a photo of the tag?
I think it is this bra by the way
http://www.bratabase.com/browse/maison-lejaby-elixir/mosaique-3-section-underwired-g81333/If you find another Mosaique, the DD size does indeed exist in Elixir. I recently got a 85DD in the Elixir Enlace-moi which fits me perfectly, even though that size in just about any other brand would be hilariously undersized.
For us to be able to tell you if you are better in the DD or E, it would help for you to measure your lying down perimeter for your larger breast.
I think you would proooobably fit in some of the main line Lejaby (not Elixir) 85E mais je ne veux pas trop m'avancer sans voir les mesures

Yes that's the bra you posted (but in a different color)
I never tried anything in Lejaby that's why I took my usual size in French brands. Can I ask you you're usual size, maybe we've have the same one...
My lying down perimeter is 26 centimeters.(Au fait tu es française toi aussi ?)

Oui je suis francaise mais j'habite aux USA!
Buuut I think we are supposed to speak English here (not sure if it's a rule??) so we should behave ;-)I fit pretty well in 85E in some French brands now, but not all. First because really I'd be better in an 80 (but hard to find if shopping in actual shops when I am in France...) and also because I have a very projected and center-full shape. So, my ideal size is not super consistent. Because I wear almost exclusively unpadded, unlined bras, it's 80F/85E and occasionally 85F. If you wear 85F all the time, in almost all other French brands, then I think in Elixir 85E would be fine for sure.
I find that Lejaby has changed dramatically in the past few years-- the main Maison Lejaby line has chosen more recherche, lightweight fabrics etc. but the result is the bands are a little too stretchy. This is not the case with Elixir, where they have stayed safe with the firm fabrics. So my "normal Lejaby" 85Es are feeling a bit loose in the band after wearing them all summer and into the fall, and my 85DD Elixir is still good, not loose at all.

Enchantée de te connaître chère compatriote ! :D
Well, that's not a problem for me to speak English so let's speak English :)Ah !! The HUGE problem of the 80 in France... If you can find one, you can hardly afford it (or have to wait for a discount or the sales) !! I often have the same problem. I'm between the 85F and the 80G.
I used to be a 85D/80E (from my teenage to 23) and since I'm a 85F/80G I had to discover the non-French brands especially for swimwear, babydolls and basques (guêpière, je ne sais pas si "basque" est la bonne traduction ^^).
I wear 30FF in Bravissimo (but the band is a bit short for me and in 32F it's too big)
32F in Pour Moi, Cleo by Panache.
30FF in Heidi Klum and FigleavesCHANTELLE is the only French brand that fits me like a dream in 85F (but i've only one bra, i'm waiting for the sales to afford more Chantelle bras).
ROUGE GORGE can sometimes fits me well, but not perfectly. I think they run big in the back so I have little issues with the gore center. For a perfect fitting I would need a 80G but they don't sell this size. They also like to put extra plastic wires on the sides, in the wings of the bra. These wires hurt me and I have to remove them. Plus, I don't feel more side support with these additionnal wires...
AUBADE doesn't fit me in 85F (the band is too big) and I haven't yet try their 80G size which they started to sell last year.
DARJEELING is not fitting me. They band are too loose and the cups fit weird... I tried a 85F which fitted in the cup and a 80F which also fitted... But both of them didn't fit in the band. The 80F nearly fitted at the tighest hook ... I also tried a 80G (too big in the cup and in the band) and a 85E (too small in the cup, too big in the band) Really weird fitting !! So I didn't buy anything and will never buy anything.LEJABY ELIXIR seems to be ok in 85... but the cups run huuuuge ^^ I measured the cup depht of my best fitting bra (a Chantelle in 85F) and the Lejaby is 3 centimeters deeper ... It seems a lot, doesn't it ? Is there 3 centimeters between each cup in Lejaby Elixir ???

No, I don't think there is 3cm between cups on the same style in Elixir. But what is your Chantelle exactly? The width, projection and height of the cup can make a difference.
Darjeeling had not yet started to offer full cups when I left France (when you were prob in CE1 hahaha) and I haven't tried during trips back. I haven't tried Rouge Gorge. Chantelle has such a vast selection of shapes, fabrics and designs, it's hard to use as a reference since they make something for everyone at this point--which one is the one that fits well for you?
Aubade traditionally has had stretchy bands and shallow cups (sexiness oblige, shallow cup creates more cleavage, but can be hard to fit a majority of full bust customers with that shape) but I have not tried their actual, dedicated full bust line. I will do that in December and report back!!
If you want to try another Elixir I think you should first consider the options you're looking at, unless you have the possibility of exchanging this same exact model for a different size. The older models run even bigger than the more recent ones I believe, because they are so tall.

It's a Chantelle Intuition with a plunge shape. This one : https://www.glamuse.com/chantelle-intuition-soutien-gorge-plongeant-pomme-d-amour-p-85725.html.
I also took the measurements of my bravissimo bras : Erin bra (full cup) and Penny Bra (balconnette). Both have also a 3cm difference with my Elixir bra. I fact, I took the measurement of all my well-fitting bra. They are all about 24-25cm deep. This bra is 27,8 cm deep. All my bra are unpadded and most of them are balconnette or full cup bra. So I think I will try the 85DD.Haha yes, I was probably very young at that time. I don't know how old you are but i'm 25 ;)
I think you shouldn't bother to try Darjeeling because I don't think their bras are supportative enough for big cups. Even in the nearly-fitting 80F I didn't felt really well, there wasn't a real support (and no side support at all) and I felt like my boobs were going to pop up if I moved too much. And if we have the same band size (i'm 76,5 cm) I think you will have the same issues with the very stretchy band.
For Rouge Gorge, it depends of the model. Some can fit me, other don't it depends of the band size and it's strechiness which vary according to the model...I used to fit in Aubade when I was a 80E. But now my breasts are more projected that's why I don't know if I will fit in a 80G... But I will try in January, during sales and before that I will have a look at you december review ;)
I will exchange this model but I don't know yet if there's my size. If I can't have this model in my size, I will take another Elixir bra with the same shape.

Yes that makes sense. For me the Enlace-Moi is a perfect fit now in 85DD--I am not COMPLETELY sure it would have worked as well when I was young and more full on top/sides (after two babies breast composition is different and shape as well). So tentatively, I think you'd be in the 85DD-E range in most Elixir bras nowadays. Definitely post updates when you try new ones!

http://www.bratabase.com/help/rules/ for what it's worth, I don't think there's anything wrong with you two talking it out in French if it's easier. :)
Maybe a quick summation of the resolution in English at most? But we can all use google translate, I think, if needs be. :)

Well I must confess that I'm very bad for measuring my bras that's probably why the measurements are so inconsistants,
I didn't found the model probably because I search in the Lejaby collection and that's à Lejaby Elixir. On the comment below Wendybien has posted the link of this model.
