Bra fitting help » Claudette; shape mis match for me? Larger cup better?
Claudette » Fishnet Scoop Neck Bra (12012) » 28D 28:4
Issue resolved
Shape of bra seems fine, Cup is definitely too small. Can try to adjust wires.
Original problem
Wires feel to narrow, I think they sit on the edge of my root, not behind it. The wires may be too short, typically when I have wires this low under my arms, my tissue escapes. Thought I have not worn long enough to know if it will. Quading with straps fully tightened, slight quading with straps medium tightened (like the pictures). I know my breasts are pointy...but can not seem to figure out the basics of my shape...not sure if I should go up a cup or not. Best band I have ever had!

helpfulIf you get a cup size up the wires will be wider, the sides taller, and you shouldn't quad in the center. That doesn't mean it will fit :/ but it's worth a try.

helpfulThis bra is gorgeous! I love the fishnet section and it has a really pretty shape. I think you should try a cup size up if you like it - looks like there is some definite quadding going on. I'm glad the band fits so well - it looks like you need tight 28s or true 26s (tight 28s will be easier to find though).

I really do love this bra! My significant other even commented on how comfy it looked. I decided to wear this bra for one of my ten hour shifts at work before coming back and responding to this fit request. It is quite evident that my body is not used to wearing such a firm band as I felt a bit sore after wearing the bra all night. After sitting in this bra for my hour long drive to work it became very apparent where the bra was in fact sitting on my breast tissue. The wires in this bra a VERY firm and started to feel like they were digging into me while I was sitting, but while i was standing I did not feel it very much. When I took the bra off I had clear as day red marks on my breasts in the shape of the cup all the way up to where the cup connects to the straps. I could also feel my tissue hanging over the cup on the armpit side. I have NEVER worn a bra where my breasts actually stayed in the same spot all night, that they certainly did in this bra! It stopped all movement better than a sports bra (or at least any sports bra that I've worn) . Even though there is no space between the under wire channels at the Gore, the under wire was still sitting on my breast, only slightly uncomfortable and I am hoping this uncomfortable feeling would go away with a correct size cup. I do wish the bras under wires came up hire at the side than in the middle, I think the Gore may be too high for me... the wires do not fill the under wire channels so perhaps I could push the under wires to the outside from the inside? Put a stitch or two in place to keep it from moving..I do not have much experience with bras, but if the bra does not "soften up" with wear I may sew a soft, plush fabric along the under wires and band seems. They are not itchy or abrasive, they're just not super plush and soft. I have also found that I am of average projection and slightly shallow (between the two), FOT & inner fullness, with wide/tallish roots and pointy nipples which gives me a conical-ish shape. Most of which I never thought I was! I appreciate everyone's input so far and look forward to more input. I love almost everything from Claudette, so all information on shapes of any of their bras and their compatibility with my shape would be very much appreciated!

I'm definitely going to be sticking with the 28 bands rubypig as my body is still getting used to the well fitting band considering all the bands I've worn before now could practically wrap around my breasts! And the entire cup is mesh! The top section of the cup is one layer of mesh and the bottom section is two layers of mesh. The bra definitely "got me" on that because I originally got this one instead of the Dessous because I thought that this bra had an opaque/fabric lining/section of the cup instead of being all mesh. Super beautiful though.

LeProfessor - sorry I only just saw your replies! I was in Europe this week so I've been a bit absent from BTB. Have you tried pushing the wires down the channels so they don't irritate your sternum as much? Personally I find this really difficult with firm wires (i.e. Panache) and usually give up after a few half hearted attempts - but I may well be doing it wrong ;) The other potential problem with this technique is if the wires are sitting on breast tissue all the way round, you may just get more irritated sides - definitely sounds like you need to go up a cup!
As far as the band goes - if the cups are too small, the band will feel tighter from the tension in the cups - so a 28 band in a bigger cup will hopefully feel better :) But as you said, if you've been wearing band sizes that are actually too large, the feeling of a fitting band takes a while for your body to adjust to!
If you prefer softer wires a Freya bra could be good - I recently tried the new Soiree padded plunge, and while the cups were too wide for me, it might be a better fit on you. A Bravissimo Satine could also be worth a look?

rubypig Satine from Bravissimo comes in my size range? I swear I have been to their website a half a dozen times and never could find anything in a 28 band. I have been looking through a lot of @Freya's stuff and their sizing seems totally off. Half the bras that I look at are extremely narrow with an acceptable depth, or not too narrow but have a depth that is over my acceptable range. I guess I'm still trying to work out which of their models will suit me. I feel the same way about most of @CurvyKate's, stuff. I'm probably going to make a post asking for assistance with the Polish brands as I am dead in love with them. I'm going through their models measurements saying to myself "People say their wires are so wide! They don't seem so wide to me (4.5" and under)." But may be it is just my size range. Thank you for your input. And I'm definitely going to try this bra in a 28DD/30D, whichever I can get my hands on first. I have a sewing machine so I'm going to be heading on over to YouTube and other places to help show me how to shorten bands, shorten/narrow Gore's, shorten cups, and change strap location. I have always wanted to make clothes and lingerie and this seems like a perfectly logical place to start.

Yes the Satine comes in a 28 band - the smallest size is a 28DD, but if you want to give it a go I'd try 28E.

Also good luck with the alterations!

I definitely love this bra and everything you mentioned is the parts of the bra I feel need to be larger cupandahalf!
