Bra fitting help » Gapping, open on top, and wide cups
Freya » Kiyoko Padded Half Cup Bra (1883) » 30E 30:6
Issue resolved
Returning bra. I might try a different Freya half cup style in the future, but it's got to be narrower and shorter cups. And narrower gore.
Original problem
I really wished it was a good fit. I'm getting gapping, extra fabric at the sides, and I think it's too tall/open at the top because I don't have a smooth line against my breast and under shirts you can see the gapping. Is this something that can be or should be altered? It is $15. Other Freya half cups or half cups from other brands that might work better? I'm already considering the Cleo Mimi in 30F.

helpfulMaybe try Freya Mode and B tempt'd Ciao Bella? They are less open on top than Kiyoko. I've seen them working well for people with similar shapes to you. Not sure if their cup width/strap placement are good for you, though. Are you interested in bras with a higher gore in general, or half cups only? I am thinking that Curvy Kate Florence/Bridget and Cleo Piper may work for you, but they are more like balconettes than half cups.

If Ciao Bella almost cuts in, I think Freya Patsy is worth trying. It is slightly less open on top than Kiyoko. I am not sure about Sassy.
I think Ewa Michalak CHP might work for you too, but because you are in Canada, I am not sure if it is convenient for you to order them. Maybe order from Bra Obsessed which is Canada-Based? You may need to size up in the band in EM bras if you feel 30E Ellace is too tight, maybe try a 32/70DD or even 34/75D. There are some 75D/DD EM CHPs listed on Bratabase if you want to grab it for cheaper prices.

I definitely have Ewa in mind for future padded cups. lcl0706 is strongly encouraging me to skip UK bras and go Polish. I’m going to try a few more UK unlined before I go to Polish. She will help me once I’m ready for the jump. We’ll look here first. But budget wise, I want a few more unlined so that I have a few better ones (than now except for my So Free unlined and Ellace) to wear while I look at and save up for the Ewas.

In this anonymous imgur album for a fit on abtf fb group, the Ciao Bella is the first one. It’s borderline. Some say it’s too small and some say it’s ok. It felt a little bit weird though. I can’t put my finger on why. I tried a bunch that day and had no clear winners. :(

Just incase you weren't aware Ewa Michalak is only offering DHL shipping to Canada right now, which is very expensive and typically has customs fees. So if you are going polish definitely check out the Canadian and American companies that sell polish bras :)

Thanks for the heads up Impossibletofit. I don't hear good things about DHL. I'm going to probably start out by trying some from here and braswap first.

I think the 32DD Ciao Bella looks either slightly too small or just not projected enough. How does it feel? Can you try a 32DDD to compare?
-
Your assessment is correct...either too small or too shallow or both, given my shape. They didn’t have a 32DDD, iirc, but I was in a bit of a rush to get to the other store, so I didn’t look closely for a larger size because something about the overall fit and look wasn’t right and I wasn’t in the mindset to find something better fitting there.

helpfulI had the same problem with extra fabric at the sides and I fixed it by moving the straps outwards and turning them a bit. That also reduced the inner shallowness of this bra (a problem in general with Freya HCs).
But I doubt this will be enough to make this bra a good fit on you. To me it seems your lacking the upper volume this HC cut requests. Try one of the Freya HC with that extra horizontal seem like the Mode or Fearne. They fit better on FOB breasts.
You could give the Patsy a try if you want to, it is less open on top than the Kiyoko and also a bit lower, but besides the cut is very similar so I'm not sure if that one will work.Updated on February 19, 2018 Flag this

This is the second Mode suggestion. I’ll look at Fearne too, though I’m probably going to skip padded UK bras and just jump to Ewa once I get a few more unlined (probably Curvy Kate) bras.

helpfulI've included pictures from the initial try on, and then from today when I tried a more aggressive swoop and scoop to see if it helped to get more tissue in the cups. It sort of does and sort of doesn't. I just wanted both sets of images in for the fit. Also, does the gore look like it is too wide for me?

Thanks for your suggestions. I've tried the Ciao Bella in 32DD and I was borderline spilling out of the cups. I'm ok with highish gores, but not too wide. I have a Curvy Kate Ellace in 30E...the band is a little too snug and I'm using an extender. I think 32DD on that one will be better, but I might get another Ellace in the same size but different colour and still use an extender because of the $60 price difference between 30E and 32DD. I have a Florence in mind as a new one to try, probably a 30F since my 30E has a tiny bit of cup quadding and the stretch lace is kinda making it more forgiving than the non stretch of the Florence of the same size would be. I like round looks which makes why I was considering a half cup. And the lower cut aspect, and the cakes on a plate cleavage. I have looked at Sassy and Patsy but I don't know if either of them would work anyway better. I can look for Mode. I'm sure it is ok clearance right now. Stick with same size? Thanks for your help.
