Bra fitting help » Should I go up a cup size in Comexim bras?
Comexim » Jade Plunge » 80HH 36:9
Issue resolved
Comfortable bra, reasonable fit. Have ordered a plunge in 80J for comparison.
Original problem
I posted this bra as a review and realized that I tacked a fit request on at the end. Apologies for the repost but I wanted some advice on fitting with Comexim and whether or not I should order a larger cup size next time. I would say the best size for me in UK bras is 36FF/G. I’m full on bottom, more centre full and am looking for more immediate projection in my bras. The bras that have had the best fit for me have been the ChiChi, Cleo Hettie and Lucy.
I don’t think this bra has enough immediate projection for me, but still works pretty well. If I don't adjust just right, I get a little quadding in my right breast. I noticed when I leaned over to pick things up, I had to adjust the fit as I had shifted in the bra and was quadding. My breasts are definitely pushed together and up in the bra and while the gore tacks, the top of it does feel like it's being pushed out slightly. I've read about orange in a glass effect and this bra can give that effect.
I'm considering ordering my next Comexim bra in 80J. Is this bra supposed to fit the way it does on me or should I go up a cup size? When it comes to Comexim bras, which styles would you recommend I try? I’ve read that I should look for a three part bra for extra projection. I’ve considered trying a half cup bra, but am not sure if it would work with my soft tissue. I know that full coverage bras tend to not work well for me as I have trouble filling the top. With Comexim do I need to size up or down depending on the style? I'm looking for styles with more immediate projection and deep cups.
If I order from Ewa, given my preferences, which styles would work best for my shape? I know Ewa runs more true to size, so if I’m an 80J in Comexim should I try an 80GG cup or stick with 80G?

helpfulWhen compared to Panache Cleo, Comexim wires are far more flexible and not easy to get to tack, so it is not uncommon to get that pushing out feeling with the brand. It is one of the reasons many women find the brand more comfortable. (The softer wires not the pushing out that is!)
From the photos, I am not really seeing issues with fit, BUT photos can be deceptive! I often get quadding that is hidden in the photos so your description is just as important. You know how it feels and what you see so trust your instincts too! Hopefully some of the other ladies can help you (or see it better than I do) to offer specific insight. That being said, if you have issues filling the top of the cup like you mentioned, keep in mind that sizing up in the cup will make them taller so you may not be pleased with the results. You can order with reduced cup height if ordering direct from Comexim but Comexim hasn't been consistent with honoring customizations lately and such bras are not returnable so it's a gamble. I don't have experience with their half cups personally but have read they run more shallow and open on top I believe. Reading some reviews around your size range and browsing the photos may help get a good idea on that style and how it fits. (And of course the input from others would help here too!)
In regards to Ewa. Sizing suggestions are tricky as everyone has a bit different need depending on which style is chosen and whether its padded or not. I span over 3 cup sizes in Ewa depending on the style. Some on here wear the same size across the board, and many require a size smaller for the unpadded compared to the padded. So depending on the person, you can get a lot of seemingly wild suggestions! It's most likely going to be some trial and error to get a great fit with each style for Ewa.
For both brands, if you live in the US, try Zathiya. She offers easy returns and stocks a wide variety of sryles and models for each. This will allow you to try them and pinpoint your sizing without breaking the bank with returns.
Sorry I couldn't offer more concrete advice but I hope this helps at least a little bit.

dbmamaz that is something I was wondering about. If I request more immediate projection then I would probably settle into this bra better and not need to size up. I would like to try the next size, just for comparison, but that isn’t possible without ordering online.
MamaPagan thanks for your input, it actually is helpful. I’ve read some of the reviews, but as you said people have had such individual experiences. I’ve read that the Comexim half cup has more immediate projection than the plunge and vice versa, so am just confused now. From what I’ve looked at I’m leaning towards Ewa unlined bras, and I’ve read about which styles has the most immediate projection, but of course it’s all muddled now.
I do like the support of this bra. I’d given up on finding a plunge bra, and this one is so secure feeling. I don’t feel like I’m going to fall out at any moment. -
dbmamaz is correct, you can order Comexim with "deeper at the wire" which in my experience also makes it deeper at the apex (as in the fullest part not near the strap area.) My Comexim Gloria was done with deeper at the wire, as was Naomi and Moulin Rouge Black.
I think part of the confusion with deeper or shallower for styles is that it truly varies with each band/cup combo so what one experiences in their size can be complete opposite from another in a different size. With Ewa, I do believe that in general, the full lace cup BMs are the most spacious cup that Ewa offers, as well as projected. (For me, the padded half cup CHP is as well.) Their half lace BMs are slightly smaller in the cup than the full lace BMs (but spectacular in my opinion) and their SFs slightly smaller than those. That was how Kaska at Ewa described them and in my range that is indeed true. All 3 of those unpadded styles (Both BMs amd SF) have stretch lace on the top half of the cups making them very accommodating. I don't have experience yet of their FB, SM, or unpadded half cup to compare them, but know those (aside from the FB) are not stretchy on top.
The BM gives a more natural look and would be a fuller (taller) cup, the SF is more rounded and slightly lower than the BM. I do believe the SM would be shorter than those.
Also the SF is listed as semi padded but indeed is not padded. The bottom half of the cup is made with a stiffer material which gives a bit more support and lift than the BM but no actual padding is there.
Last extra bit of info, I have found the bands that are fully lace lined are not as stretchy as their bands without lace, so this could effect which band size is needed. -
Kasey17 From my experience the half cup was shallower on the bottom than the plunges. The rule I've seen is size up for the half cup, but I think that depends on how your breasts are shaped. I have tall shallow roots and sizing up makes them too tall on me, so I can't do it. You look short rooted to me so this might give you the same problem. If you are in the US, I'd suggest ordering a half cup from Breakout Bras in your normal size and the next size up and compare.

Sovavosi, I may have to make a special order for more immediate projection. The Jade is wrinkling a bit at the bottom, so I know I need more projection than this. Is there a difference in projection with the half cups with one vertical seam vs two vertical seams?
You are right, I am definitely short rooted (just didn’t know what to call it until now). I end up in smaller cup sizes than my measurements indicate. According to abrathatfits calculator I’m a 36GG, and that is definitely too large for me. I’m in Canada, but I think shipping isn’t a problem from breakout bras. I also have sent a message to bra obsessed about fit in both Ewa and Comexim and am waiting to hear back. Ewa bras that are supposed to have more immediate projection often look like they may be too tall for me. I read that CHP and SM have the most immediate projection, but have also heard other styles may also work. I need to order some online and try them out, I just need an easy return policy. Or, I need to take a trip to Poland (in the long run, it almost seems like the cheaper solution).

The two seams give a rounder shape than the one seam half cup. I’ve not tried it so I don’t know what other fit differences it gives.

helpfulI think you should go up a cup. This is low cut enough that even as cup and gore height increase while cup depth increases, you shouldn't have a huge problem with cup height. Especially as Comexim grades their bras size increases (cup width and height) pretty gradually compared to British bras.
