Bra fitting help » Band too tight?

Issue resolved
Need higher wings.
Original problem
I have a 30E - Freya » Patsy Padded Half Cup Bra (1223) that's a bit too loose in the band and a bit too tight in the cups. I think this 28FF fits better, but the band might be a bit tight. It looks like I have back fat and it's on the loosest hook. I'm hoping that it just means the bras new and needs to be broken in.

helpfulIt does look like it's a bit tight in the first picture, but is it uncomfortable? So long as it's comfortable for you, I wouldn't worry.
You could use a bra extender for a little while, as well. Eventually it will stretch out so that you don't need the extender, but the extender might make it more comfortable for now.

helpfulIndents don't mean that your band is too tight, it means the cup isn't wide enough. That being said, it looks like your wires are distorting which is an indication of a too tight band. Perhaps a different brand in a 30F, like Cleo. The colorway of the Meg this season is very similar to that if you're partial to the pattern. I would think that you'd to better in the Juna or the Lucy though, as far as wire width goes. If you like the Juna though, I'd get it in 28FF simply because the band is very stretchy.

I will have to try those bras. I've heard good things about them. Thanks!
How can you tell the wires are distorted?
-
Your side shot. Freya, in spite of having weak wires, designs their bands so that the wires don't distort that badly, in my Piper for example my wires are distorted, but not that badly even though the band is too tight for me because of the boning behind the wires. Your wires are distorting even worse than the ones on my Freya. Some signs of wire distortion are the wires being pulled back diagonally rather than pointing up or nearly up. Another is them coming up too low on your sides (which doesn't seem to be an issue with you) and them coming up higher when you put in an extender. This almost looks like a case of reverse letterphobia because your bra is sitting about a half a centimeter too low. If you pull it up, how does the cup fit?

Ah, that makes sense. I added a back shot, which looks ok. It's just the side shot where it digs into my side. The cup's ok if I pull it up a bit, though the band's still a bit tight. Jillsas , I never knew my wires were distorted. Thanks so you, I've remeasured my boobs and I think I need a 15 or 16 cup width. I thought I needed a 14. Thanks!

helpfulA back shot would really help to evaluate that. Ultimately, it's you who decide whether or not it's too tight (if it's uncomfortable), but it could really help us give you some hints and tips.

Ok, I'll get a back shot once it dries.

Seeing your back shot, the hooks definitely don't look strained. I think the band size is fine, especially since you're saying that you experience no discomfort from it. The fluff you get on the side could be caused by many factors.
1) Too low wires
2) Too low wings
3) Uneven tension in the band structure; the fabric is perfectly fine in tension, but the elastic strips on top and on the bottom are cut significantly shorter than the fabric in the middle, ultimately leading to a tighter fit at the edges = more squishing there. It could be a combination of all three factors, two of them, or just one cause.

Thanks so much for everyone's help!

It's not uncomfortable, but I've just put it on to take photos. I was so excited to get another bra. I've washed it and am waiting for it to try. I've got a bra extender that I'll be using.
