Bra fitting help » slight wrinkling at top of cup

Issue resolved
I bent the underwire outwards a little in the middle and now its much comfier!
Original problem
1. Its a little squeazy around my back fat. I'm not sure if this will stop being a problem once its washed--I planned for it to stretch since every bra I've ever owned, whether delicately washed or not, stretches. Should I worry? Should I switch from a 28E to a 30DD?
2. The lace at the top of the cups wrinkles a bit. Is this because I can't fill it out, because of my shallowish-bottom heavy boob shape, or just because of the way its sewn? Should I look for a different sort of bra?
3. The straps are wide apart and irritate. Its actually useful for some of my shirts, but should I look for a different size or is it just the balchonette bra shape? I have rather narrow shoulders.

helpfulI think the band is just fine for you, but then I don't go by the +0 method (more like +2, brasihate has a good post on this in her blog, and there are also good articles if you google "reverse letterphobia"). My ribcage measurement is slightly smaller (1 cm, if you haven't measured supertight) and I wear my 28DD Bonnie with an extender (I extend the band by two hooks).
As for the fit of the cups: In our size range it's quite common for Cleo balconette cups to wrinkle at the top. At busenfreundinnen.net we call those "George wrinkles" and they don't bother most of us. The Bonnie is quite closed at the top, so if the wrinkles bother you, you can try a bra that is cut more open, such as the Marcie.
(Don't go down a cup size because of this, because then the wires and the rest of the cups would probably be too small for you!)
As for the straps: if they don't bother you, wear the Bonnie as it is. I think it looks fine on you!Updated on August 7, 2013 Flag this

Personally, I go by the "how much will this bra stretch" method. :P I read that this bra's band stretches A LOT, which means not only that it will stretch to fit me but also that it will gradually stretch with washing and wearing. If a bra is average stretchy but had the same measurements as the bonnie for example, I'd probably get a 30DD. Also, I measure pretty tight, at least for this bra. My tight is 28, but my snug is 30.
About the cups: That makes perfect sense.

helpfulBonnie actually has quite a stretchy band. It doesn't seem to be sitting flat on your back, so I'd actually suggest sizing down in this particular bra, except a 28 is the smallest band size. I'd say with your ribcage measurement (if that's your snug measurement), that you'd probably want a 28 band in most bras, but this one is unusually stretchy/long for it's size. It stretches to nearly 32", whereas most 28 bands would stretch to about 28.5-29". You may prefer a 30 band in some bras, but definitely not this one.
I also think that the bra is a little too deep in the centre for you & you'd be better off going for a shallower style. While I don't think it's overall too big for you, it's just not quite the right shape. Curvy Kate padded styles, Cleo Juna & sister cuts (like Poppy, Sadie etc), and Tutti Rouge brand bras are all fairly shallow bras (though I'm not super familiar with your size range to be honest).
Balconettes tend to have fairly wide-set straps, a full cup or a plunge bra will probably have closer set straps. It depends on how much it bothers you. It is possible to use something like a racerback converter on your bras to help keep them on your shoulders, but I think in your size you should be able to find options which stay on your shoulders without having to resort to something like this.

Hi !
I have almost the same measurments ! my ribcage is just 2cm bigger (less than 1 inche bigger). I like wearing bands that can stretch up to somewhere between 78 and 83cm (31-33inches). I think this band is good for you, it will strech a little after some wears, and you will be confortable. I don't think a 30 band is a good idea for this particular bra, but I think you can wear a lot of bras in 30 bands.
About the cups, they looks a little too deep, but in my opinion, if you are confortable and like the look of the bra, you can keep it. If you like sewing, you can try this http://www.boosaurus.com/2013/06/picture-tutorial-how-to-take-in-loose.html or http://brasihate.blogspot.fr/2012/10/the-flirtelle-lucy-cinderella-story.html . I think the bra wrinkle because your breasts are too shallow for the bra.I agree with Ereshiy 's suggestions and you can also try Freya half cup (padded with 3 vertical seems and longlines).

Actually, I think the band is PLENTY tight. In this picture I think I accidentally only had the bottom hook fastened, which creates the phenomena you're seeing. Agree with Galactica on the band.
As far as the cups, I agree. But DANG girl, it is really hard to find bras with lower gores. and I have a really short chest. My next bra coming the mail is a plunge, so we'll see how this goes.

helpfulOverall, it looks pretty good on you. If you're particularly attached to this bra, it wouldn't hurt to try a cup size down. It might help with the strap placement too. I occasionally choose a cup size smaller than I should because the straps are closer together. This may lead to other fit problems though and you'd probably be better off trying other styles to find something better suited to your shape. I think the band looks fine on you. Unless it is causing you discomfort, I would suggest sticking with the 28.

Agreed. What some see as ride up in the back I think is mistly due to the shape of the back in this case. I get the same thing - band always looks like it's riding up in the middle when in fact it's well anchored.
Bra is deffinitly wearable, seems to fit the larger breast well + I think there might be something more to scoop in from the back.
I think anforra plunge bra might work quite well here.
