Issue resolved
kept the 28f
Original problem
I have wide shallow breasts and tall?(I have a lot of upper breast tissue) so I can't seem to avoid the quadboob problem except the one bra that I've found that fits being the Panache Andorra in 28f. I sized down for this one after reading some reviews but I seem to be getting some poking and I think it may be too small. I also bought it in 28f- I'm new to this forum and can't figure out how to add pics of that one to compare. I get gaping if I'm not standing straight with both of them (read a lot of people having this problem too) but the 28f does seem to fully enclose my breast. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

helpfulThe Deco plunge is bad for shallow breasts. You're probably feeling poking because the wires are too narrow. The Deco Soft Cup or Half Cup will likely work better on you.

I guess you have soft top tissue then? Because half cups are typically recommended for people who are full on top since they tend to be more open on top, except in cases without firm top tissue). I would try the Soft Cup then in a cup size up from this one. It still gives a rounded shape, works well as a t-shirt bra, and cleavage.

so plunges work better for FOB? I had the same problem with the plunge Dexo and am FOBish.
-
No, not at all. The world isn't divided into the half cups, and full cups, and plunges. There are variations on each shape. The Deco plunge is definitely a full on top bra. To know what will work on you is to know each individual style or to read tons of reviews. For example, the Bravissimo Alana, the Goddess Keira, and the Panache Tango II Plunge all work good on full on bottom breasts with projection, in spite of the Alana being a plungey-half cup, the Keira being a definite full cup, and the Tango II Plunge being a plunge.

I strongly second the recommendation for the Deco Soft Cup.

Thank you Libby that is helpful!!

To play devil's advocate, I've found that the Deco plunge works about 50% of the time for shallow breasts.
-
Yes, it works on bigger (around 32 G) shallow breasts, but I haven't seen it work well around the 30D/DD range.
-
/shrug/ The only person with a G cup who tried on the Deco plunge who added their info to that spreadsheet found that it didn't work on them. Other than her, here's the fit/no fit for the other people who responded.
Fit:
26F/28E
28D/DD
28F/30E
30D
30E/32DDDid not fit:
28DD
28DD/30D
30D/DD
30DDI don't think that fit info is lopsided enough to say that the Freya Deco is bad for shallow breasts in OP's size range. And it's certainly not biased enough to say that the Freya Deco doesn't work for shallow breasts, full stop.
-
It's not full stop bad, but it's clearly not good on OP, which is at this point what matters.
-
I guess I took offense at the original comment, "The Deco plunge is bad for shallow breasts."

helpfulWhich is most comfortable?
I get the same problem in a few bras,I believe I am shaped somewhat similar to you, though a plus size version.I believe strap placement has a lot to do with it,I do have issues with straps despite being big.I have a convertible bra (that sadly doesn't fit anymore),but when it did,it was so cool, cause it had slots every half inch all around the top of the bra cups and you could put the straps wherever you want, which made a HUGE difference in fit.
I believe a modified version of this for a basic everyday bra in several different shapes would be a lifesaver (shoulder saver?),for many people.Must add that to list of things to try to include when making bras....Updated on September 5, 2013 Flag this

The 28F is definitely less painful and all my breast is in the cups but I feel a bit self conscious about the gaping although it happens with them both anyways. I think its not the ideal shape for me but its been so difficult to find anything that fits at all let alone something without seams/lace that will hide under most of my clothing.
I think you're totally right about the straps- they're way too fay apart for me and when I leave them there I find that I have significantly less gaping (almost none) but I feel like they're falling off and so I push them towards my neck.

helpfulI think you got a bit of orange in a glass effect going on. I would try the Cleo Juna (6461) Curvy Kate styles as they seem to work best on shallow shape

yeah I do have the Cleo Juna in 28F and it fit pretty decent but the band is huuuge (I'm planning on getting it altered in the next couple days) I still do get a bit of quadboob when I get everything in the cup but I think it might be near impossible for me to completely avoid that there aren't many 28 band styles to begin with. I will definitely look into Curvy Kate! Are you personally familiar with them? Should I start with a 28F as well? Thanks for the suggestion!

Curcy Kate has some crazy sizing though. Ive found Im different sizes depending on the model.
-
I don't know, apart from the Curvy Kate Tempt Me (SG4001) I don't know of any CK that really works well for shallow boobs.
-
ive got a tease me coming this month. I sure hope it fits. Ive tried tye thrill me and that didnt. I wouldnt this the tempt me would work for me wince i have soft boobs and try to avoid plunges as much as possible. The tease me seems really really shallow.

I've read this too, but I thought I'd give it a try since its a tall teardrop shaped bra- I have trouble with half cups because I have all that breast tissue at the top and it feels like I'm falling out of it/get quadboob.
