Issue resolved
Not the right shape/style for me - I returned the bra and I will be trying other styles now.
Original problem
I have worn a 34 A for my whole life. I realized about a month ago I have been wearing the wrong size. I have more shallow breasts (I think!) with some projection so I tried this bra. I don't love it - I think the 32 band is right but shape seems odd on me and it is not very comfortable. I pretty much fill it out after scooping and swooping but there is still some space at the bottom center of the cups where the gore meets. The gore lifts up every so slighty. In the picture I do have the left strap much tighter than the right strap because my left breast is smaller. Overall this bra just feels "odd" and "off" to me. I am thinking it is more of a shape issue than a size issue perhaps? I am confused...

helpfulIt looks like you'd need a wider gore. I'd try a demi style like B.tempt'd By Wacoal Ciao Bella Balconette (953144) , maybe the Lepel Victoria Balcony (113700) (I haven't seen anyone try it, but Lepel padded tends to be good for shallow breasts), small cup brands like Aubade and Mimi Holliday (if you can afford it), I've always looked at the construction of Implicite bras and thought they'd suit shallow breasts, Chantelle is pretty good in smaller sizes too (though I'd avoid the Rive Gauche), apparently the Freya Lauren Padded Half-cup (4821) is made down to a 32C, and Freya padded half cups are usually pretty good for shallow breasts (they also have a fairly wide gore in my opinion). There's a ton of options available to you. Plunges don't work as well on shallow breasts usually (with a table exceptions). In stores, Betsey Johnson Intimates, @b. tempt'd by Wacoal, Stella Mccartney, and Natori aren't terrible options to try out.

You mentioned empty space towards the gore and the bottom? Your breasts should fit snugly in the wires of your bra, preferably with as little empty space as possible. How do you think a wider gore would feel?
-
Yeah, that would probably help with the empty space. I'm thinking that the problems with this bra is the shape, not the size. It's just odd going from wearing a 34 A my whole life to a totally different size - takes getting used to. I have just started trying on different sizes so it has been frustrating so far. I really don't like how high the sides of this bra rises on me - I feel like it gives m weird armpit fat!
-
Huh, usually higher sides reduce armpit fat on me. Perhaps you can get a picture of what you mean? That could be a shape issue too.
-
You can actually see what I am talking about in my frontal picture. The sides go up higher and cause bulges between my armpit and breast tissue. I think I need a different style honestly, bras with demi or half cups...
-
Are you talking about the straps, because that's all I see in the front view. This looks like a problem of strap placement.
-
You say a 30 is much too tight--perhaps you're used to bras that are much too loose.
What is your actual underbust measurement? That's your starting point (no measurement is an absolute). I measure 32 and I wear a 32 in most bands. Some brands a 30 and some a 34. When I first learned about proper fitting I had been wearing a 38!
-
RG While smaller breasts do need support, I wouldn't say +0 is absolutely necessary. If it feels too tight for her, it feels too tight. A well fitting bra should be comfortable, and if a +0 band is uncomfortable, then that's not her size. Additionally it states her underbust is 31.3, 32 is a reasonable band size.
-
Jillsas We're saying the same thing.
-
RG It seemed like you were suggesting that she should actually be in a 30 band to me. I apologize if it seemed like I was attacking your stance.
-
No prob. I didn't notice her actual measurements. Just suggested she start with a +0 as a baseline. That would be about a 32. But some brands are really stretchy so 30 might work. I wear a Freya 30. I gave up on Wacoal a while back so I can't say how they run.

Thanks for all of your suggestions! Sorry I haven't replied, I have been under the weather. I ended up returning the bra - I just don't think it was the right shape/style for me. Waiting for some bras I ordered online to arrive and then perhaps I will try this again! :)

helpfulYou look bigger than a C cup. The reason for the space in the middle of the cups is because this bra is a plunge bra. Also you look like you might have separate boobs. If they are more than 2 fingers space in between your breasts that means you do have separate boobs. I think a different style bra would work better for you also a different size. http://www.bratabase.com/browse/parfait-by-affinitas/athena-balconet-padded-bra-3812/32DD/ I saw this bra and thought it might work better for you instead of the plunge style I see you wearing in your pictures. I hope I have helped you. You can post messages to me if you have anymore questions. I will try to help. It has taken about 8 months for me to figure out a lot of new info. About bras.

Besides the obvious shape issue, how does she look larger than a C? That bra, other than the shape thing, isn't too small.
-
You know, my measurements on this website and a couple of other websites have suggested a D or DD cup too - but honestly I can't fill those out! A 32 band seems like the right fit (I tried on a 30 at a store and it was WAY too tight). I think this bra might be a shape issue too......I ordered the "Ciao Bella" bra and a Betsy Johnson demi style online in a 32 C so I hoping that those shapes will work out for me.
-
You may also want to try the Masquerade Antoinette (4381). It accommodates lower fullness well, has a wider gore and tends to work well for shallow shapes because of the short half-cup style and open top.
-
How does a wider gore help?? I did order the Ciao Bella online and I am waiting for it to arrive!!
