Issue resolved
bending the wires until i can afford a replacement
Original problem
Of the bras that i've tried, so far this one is my favorite, but the base of the underwires seem to pull away from my ribcage and the gore pokes in uncomfortably at the top, is there some way I can adjust to fix these?I like the shape of this bra okay, still wish i had a bit more lift. Maybe Freyas just arent for me?

helpfulTry putting in an extender? The wires look like they're being pulled back too hard and jabby gores are often caused by too tight bands. Also, what part of the underwire do you mean when you say they base? Do you mean the bottom or the sides?
Have you tried pulling up the bra higher? I get incredible lift in Freya when I wear them high (not so high that my tissue spills out the bottom obviously).

helpfulTry extending the bra straps longer, 1 cup bigger or an extender. The reason I suggest 1 cup size up is because the center gore isn't lying flay against your sternum and because the top of the cup cuts into your breast tissue. I am suggesting extending your straps longer because that might be the reason the back of the bra band is riding up. also an extender might help the center gore lie flat against your sternum. I also agree with the other suggestion why she was suggesting an extender. Good luck! Freya bras are beautiful.

Yeah, as you can see in Image 5 the cups are clearly too small -- lots of overspill. I think a cup up would be a lot better and would probably relieve a lot of the gore issue. Plus, I bet the band would feel a lot less tight.

Personally I think that's a shape issue, but that can certain be fixed by a 38FF in my opinion and then some cup modifications like making it shorter and/or less deep.
Going a cup size up without a band will probably be worse as far as jabbiness goes. A too big cup in a too small band means the wires will be places they shouldn't be even more so, and too tight. Also, try shuffling the underwires up just high enough that your breast tissue doesn't spill out the bottom. You'll get the best support from this position and also you'll see that you might have different fit issues.

i've recently lost 50 lbs, and i think i have too much skin over my ribs (excess) because in a 38 i could immediately hook on the tightest hooks, and still fit a hand between myself and the band, and i've just had my only, albeit, ill-fitting, bra altered to a 36" band and this seems more comfortable. I can fit a whole hand between myself and the band of this bra. Do I need a new cup size or back to the larger band size? I would really like to have more than one bra someday! lol Thanks for your help :) no one warns you how difficult bras can be :P

Perhaps the cups is too big? Maybe a different brand altogether would just be better. I would try a tighter 38 in a bra with less depth and that's more open on top. Maybe Masquerade ?

I really don't think the cups are too big. You really should look at picture #5 -- there's overspill on the sides and she's got slight quadboob on the top near the rainbow trim.

helpfulI had the same pokey issue with an older Freya bra with a similar cut (can't remember which one). I bent the underwires a bit so they would be rounder, and also bent the tops of the underwires at the center outward. Still not perfect, but it's wearable. Maybe bending the underwires a bit would work for you?

BIHAL has a post about bending the underwires so they dont poke as well. And of curving them around your body since theyre flat and people arent. People are round.
