Bra fitting help » Does this fit me?

I love this bra and think it's super comfortable, but I can fit my fist in the back, and there is some space between the bottom of the strap and my chest. I wonder if I could just take the back in or what other solutions there might be.

helpfulThis actually looks pretty good. Does the band feel comfortable? If so, there is absolutely no reason you should feel the need to take it in. I always thought that the metric of two fingers vs. your whole hand fitting under your band is patently ridiculous, because everyone has different band preferences. I feel more comfortable with my whole hand as opposed to two fingers fitting under my band, so that is my perfect fit. That gap seems to be common among women with a certain shape. I believe it is something that arises if you have top volume but short breasts, and your bra is slightly too tall. Comfort-wise, is this bra good? Does it provide enough support that you don't get shoulder pain from putting too much work into the straps?

I agree. Also, it depends not only on preferences, but also on fabric. Some fabrics are more elastic, while still being supportive. For example I have only one Curvy Kate bra and on the beginning I was shocked how far away I can stretch it with my hand... but still it doesn't ride up at all and gives me normal support.
So yeah, if it doesn't ride up and if it gives you enough support, it means it's ok.
It looks really well. Space between bottom of the strap and body isn't a bad sign, imho.

helpfulThis is a matter of personal preference, but if it's not riding up, your breasts aren't falling out underneath (i.e. you fill the cup when you swoop and scoop, but during the course of the day you don't any more) and you're not tightening your straps to get lift, this should be fine. Most of my bras are 'too loose' by the 'fit no more than 4 fingers, ideally just 2' method, but they don't ride up or do any of the things mentioned above and I find them more comfortable that way.
I find the gap at the bottom of the straps/top of the cup happening a fair bit, I think this happens when the bra is fairly low cut at the side and attaches where the breast has a lot of volume and where breasts are full on the bottom, though I may be wrong.
Generally speaking, I can't see any glaring fit issues, but if you would prefer the band tighter, take it in
- oops, just noticed that basically everyone else has said the same thing!

The thing about not tightening your straps to get lift... I have to disagree a bit. Some women really need to tighten their straps A LOT. I'm only 5 feet tall (152 cm) so if I don't my straps are simply floating in the air or are not on my shoulders at all. I also have high-set breasts so straps are very long for me to begin with. High-set breasts usually equates a small distance between the breasts and the shoulderblades. You don't need to be petite to have these features but I'm just saying that it's very common in petite women.

helpfulI think it looks great! No need to take the back in if it's giving enough support and is comfortable.Usually for me if I can fit my fit in the back it's too loose, but I normally do that when I'm getting a lack of support from the band being too loose and can tell. But it seems like some women are fine with that.
As for the straps, there might be a way to alter them if it's causing you discomfort.Updated on November 10, 2013 Flag this

helpfulThe band looks perfect! As long as it doesn't ride up or down I wouldn't be worried

helpfulI could seem completely crazy in saying this, as I'm new to this and so far off getting myself sized, but I think you could probably go up a cup size. I think it'd be just enough to maybe help fix the gap at the bottom of the strap issue as they'd come up slightly higher. But it might give you more coverage than you want... also, in regards to the band, if it's comfortable for you then I see no reason to change it. Though I don't suppose going down or altering the band size would be a bad thing. I think I would definitely have thought you to be at least a 65G/GG!

helpfulbraquistadora (great name, by the way!), I agree with everything Jillsas said. If the bra is not causing discomfort, wear it. It looks great in the pics.

I think this is really sound advice :) The whole thing about only fitting 2 fingers underneath... I think that's a pretty crappy advice tbh. I think everyone should ditch that idea and just go for what feels most comfortable. I can fasten bras much smaller in the back than I would prefer to wear, but I don't have to and I'd have to get a seriously tight bra if there was no more wiggle-room than 2 fingers. If you prefer that tight of a band, fine :) If you feel comfortable with NOT wearing a bra that tight... I don't see any reason for you to size down.
I was veeeery confused about that in the beginning of my bra journey and I remember being frustrated about BOTH being uncomfortable in that tight of a band, and not having a bra that was TIGHTER. How was I thinking? I was fooled and was thinking that a textbook surely must've been right, not what I was actually experiencing. I think we really need to stop this whole "2 fingers underneath the band". It doesn't need to be that complicated, why not just say "as big as you're comfortable with but tight enough so you don't get fit issues because of it." ? Good luck with your fit journey, I think this bra looks pretty good on you :)
