Bra fitting help » Quadboob but empty cup in the middle and orange in glass
Curvy Kate » Smoothie Moulded Bra (CK2401) » 28F 28:7
Issue resolved
It's wrong for my shape.
Original problem
This bra didn't fit at all, there is quadboob, orange-in-glass and I can't fill the middle of the cups. The cup is quite pointy which leaves empty space in the front of the cup, but at the same time it curves inward to much at the top and cuts into breast tissue. At least the band was a good fit... I don't know if it's a size och a shape issue. Thinking about exchanging it for a bigger cup size but is unsure if that would be a better fit. Seems like this bra is perhaps for someone with more projection and less tissue higher up on the torso. Should I try a cup size up?

helpfulHave you tried adjust the bra so it sits higher? My guess is that this is actually too deep/too big for you and you might be wearing it a bit too low. The Smoothie isn't so good on smaller breasts. I would try other good bras for shallow breasts in the same size or in a cup size down like Only her plunges, EM, Masquerade, Freya half cups (Patsy, Gem, Piper longline, Fan-tastic, Flourish longline are the ones that come in 28 bands), perhaps the Freya Marvel (I haven't seen it much in smaller sizes, but it looks like it has wide wires and shallow cups, it runs tight in the band, so that will be a plus for you), Parfait by Affinitas, Claudettes padded stuff, Cleo (especially the Juna, Maddie, Jessie, and Marcie) etc...

helpfulFrom the first picture, it also looks almost like the cup is too small all over, the wires seem to be very narrow for your breast tissue.
And to add to what Jillsas said, I agree that there's empty space on the bottom of the cup, so pulling it up might reveal other fit issues that might help discover what's going on.

Yes perhaps it's a bit too small, and also wrong for my shape. Thank you for your help!

helpfulI just returned the Curvy Kate Starlet (same bra, different fabric overlay) for the exact same reason. I also have wide, shallow breasts and the Starlet looked pretty much exactly like this on me. I think it's just a bad bra for shallow boobs.

I thought I was top heavy, because there is a lot of tissue high up, almost to my collarbone, but now I realise that I´m probably shallow. Maybe we're boob twins ;) :D

Just a quick comment here. It's possible to be shallow and top-heavy or shallow and bottom-heavy. Basically the two descriptors are looking at two different axes of your breasts; how much they project outwards (shallow or deep/projected) and how your tissue is distributed on the vertical axis (top or bottom full).
Petiteaudrey - I'd say that at least from these pictures, you look like you are both shallow and have breasts which are fuller on the top. :)

Thanks for the clarification Ereshiy! :)

Yes, the term "shallow" can be really confusing because different sites seem to have decided on different meanings of shallow. A lot of sites that sell bras will use shallow to mean "full on the bottom" and not much fullness on the top. You can see that herroom.com uses that definition here:
http://www.herroom.com/upper-breast-fullness,335,30.htmlHowever, the term makes much more sense when used as you see on Venusian Glow. Quoting directly it says "shallow breasts are broader at the root but don't stick out much. Their base is much bigger than the depth. They often start very high up, at the collar bones; so they cover more chest area than other breast types. Most of the breast tissue stays close to the ribcage"
I would recommend reading the whole post at: http://www.venusianglow.com/2012/09/small-breasts-with-broad-base.html#sthash.6Nxsu1SU.dpuf"
As you can see in that definition, shallow actually includes upper fullness, so yes, you can be shallow and have upper fullness.I think it doesn't make much sense to use "shallow" the way that sites like Herroom do because "full on the bottom" covers the same territory. However, there isn't any other term that covers "most of my breast tissue is close to my ribcage rather than projected outward."

Thanks Ulalume, very helpful!

The orange in glass almost disappears when I pull the bra higher (need to remind myself to do thos with all bras, I often put them on too low) but there is still quadboob and empty space. I guess it´s not a bra for my shape. Thank you for your suggestions, it´s great to know which bras are good for my shape :)
